Matt Schudel -- Washington Post

Paul Motian, whose subdued, shape-shifting drumming with pianist Bill Evans and other musicians influenced generations of jazz drummers, died Nov. 22 at a hospital in New York. Frank Sinatra Made A Dirty Movie At 19, Says New Biography

John Thomas Didymus -- Digital Journal

A new biography of Frank Sinatra alleges that at 19, struggling to get his singing career started, he agreed to appear in a porn film. According to "Frank Sinatra, The Boudoir Singer: All the Gossip Unfit to Print from the Glory Days of Ol' Blue Eyes," he was paid $100 for his part in the 1934 movie "The Masked Bandit." The author of Sinatra's new biography, Darwin Porter, says he got the information from British actor Peter Lawford, a member of Frank Sinatra's gang of friends in the 1960s, the Rat Pack. The Rat Pack included Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. According to Peter Lawford's story, Sammy Davis Jr., who collected porn movies, had a copy of Frank Sinatra's movie.

Obama's Strategic Misfires Behind The Mess That U.S. Is In, Says Bill Clinton In New Book

Associated Press

Former President Bill Clinton says in a new book that last summer's political fight over raising the US debt ceiling made the nation look "weak and confused" overseas and he doesn't know why President Barack Obama didn't seek a hike in the limit when Democrats still controlled both houses of Congress. He says the final deal did little to create jobs or solve the longer-term debt crisis. In his book, "Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy," Clinton analyses the factors that contributed to the nation's current economic woes and offers several policy prescriptions he says would create jobs and make the US more competitive.

Was Vincent Van Gogh Murdered?

Christina Caron -- ABC News (US)

Video AND TEXT. Experts have said for more than 100 years that post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh walked to a wheat field on July 27, 1890, shot himself in the chest with a pistol, then died two days later in his room at the age of 37. But "Van Gogh: The Life," a new book by Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith -- who were honored in 1991 for a biography about American painter Jackson Pollock -- argues the troubled artist might have been murdered. The authors questioned why (and how) the Dutch artist would have obtained a gun, and pointed out that the gun was never found. They also challenged the idea that Van Gogh could have walked all the way back to his room in Auvers-sur-Oise, northwest of Paris, with a serious injury.

With an age difference of over 30 years, the duo had a magical courtship in the 1960s that eventually gave way to the dark side of Grant after they were engaged. Following three years of marriage and not long after the birth of their daughter Jennifer, the couple divorced and Cannon suffered a nervous breakdown.

Geithner Ignored Obama Order To Plan To Wind Down Citigroup

Donal Griffin and Caroline Salas Gage -- Bloomberg News

Geithner didn't proceed with Obama's order to develop a plan to dissolve New York-based Citigroup in March 2009, several months after the bank had received a $45 billion taxpayer bailout, according to "Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington, and the Education of a President" by Ron Suskind, a former Wall Street Journal reporter. Citigroup, led by Chief Executive Officer Vikram Pandit, posted $29.3 billion in combined losses for 2008 and 2009, much of them tied to subprime mortgages. U.S. taxpayers also guaranteed more than $300 billion of the lender's riskiest assets to prop up the company as it neared collapse.

John F. Kennedy "Worried" About Lyndon Johnson Presidency

Agence France-Presse (FR)

President John F. Kennedy "worried for the country" should his vice-president Lyndon Johnson succeed him, according to taped interviews of Kennedy's widow to be aired next week on US television. In the interviews to be shown on ABC News, recorded months after Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas and succeeded by Johnson, Jacqueline Kennedy said her husband had begun discussing how to ensure Johnson did not run for president in 1968. "Bobby told me this later, and I know Jack said it to me sometimes. He said, 'Oh, God, can you ever imagine what would happen to the country if Lyndon was president?'" she said, referring to Robert Kennedy, the president's brother. The transcripts are being released in a book this month entitled "Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy."

How Fear Turned Jane Fonda Into A Sex Addict

Patricia Bosworth -- Daily Mail (UK)

"Jealousy is bourgeois," said Roger Vadim, who at 37 was ten years older and embarking on his third marriage. "If I have sex with someone else, it's not betrayal, because I love you." Uncertain of her identity and racked with insecurity, Jane said nothing. If she objected, she feared she might lose him -- and the thought of life without her gentle and charismatic lover filled her with terror. Only when they had been together three years did he confess he'd never been faithful to her. But these nameless women weren't important, he insisted, and he vowed that he'd never embarrass her in public by taking a mistress. On top of that, he had a shocking suggestion. Jane should try having adventures of her own to enjoy "sex for its own sake"; then he'd be able to tell her about his conquests, and they could share their experiences. Adapted from "Jane Fonda: The Private Life of a Public Woman," by Patricia Bosworth.

9/11 Children's Coloring Book Angers U.S. Muslims

Alison Flood -- Guardian (UK)

A coloring book about the events of 9/11, complete with pictures of the burning twin towers and the execution of a cowering Osama bin Laden for children to fill in, has provoked outrage among American Muslims. "We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids' Book of Freedom" has just been released by the Missouri-based publisher Really Big Coloring Books, which says it is "designed to be a tool that parents can use to help teach children about the facts surrounding 9/11". Showing scenes from 9/11 for children to color in and telling the story of the attacks and the subsequent hunt for Osama bin Laden, "the book was created with honesty, integrity, reverence, respect and does not shy away from the truth", according to its publisher, which says that it has sold out of its first print run of 10,000 copies.

Laurie Whitwell -- Daily Mail (UK)

In his book, "In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir," Mr Cheney writes that if he was at his "undisclosed location", he could join conferences by video. "If I was traveling or at an undisclosed location, the president would often be briefed in the White House Situation Room, so I could join by secure videoconference," he writes. The memoir is dominated by the attacks of September 11, 2001, and Mr Cheney's role in shaping the intelligence and national security response.

Why Do Cats' Eyes Glow In The Dark? The Weird Truth About Animals' Sight

Malcolm Welshman -- Daily Mail (UK)

Cats and dogs can only see the colors a color-blind person can see: yellows, blues and violets. So no reds, greens and oranges. This is because, while the retinas of dogs and cats are like ours, in that they contain two types of light-receptors called rods and cones, in the human eye there are more types of cones, which are the ones responsible for color vision. But cats and dogs have more rods, the receptors responsible for seeing in the dark. This means that our pets have poorer color vision than us, but superior night vision, and are also much better at tracking movement. But while humans struggle to process violet wavelengths -- meaning that although the sky is violet, we see it as blue because it's easier for us to process -- birds can fully process them. Birds can also see ultraviolet light, which has even shorter wavelengths than violet light and is invisible to humans. It is this ability which allows roosters to detect sunrise and start crowing before we can see it. The author of this article is also the author of "Pets in a Pickle."

Slow Sex: The Art And Craft Of The Female Orgasm

Rowan Pelling -- Daily Mail (UK)

First of all there was slow food. Then slow travel. So I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone wrote a book called "Slow Sex" - although, as one friend wistfully put it: "What other sort is there on the far shores of middle age and beyond?" Mind you, author and sex instructor Nicole Daedone clearly has something more artisanal in mind than the creaking coitus of your average married couple. She is teaching, as the book's subtitle has it, "The Art and Craft of the Female Orgasm," which, she claims, with the right partner and advanced technique, can last for anything up to four months. No, that's not a mistake: four whole months.

Demint Book Reveals Widening G.O.P. Divide

James Rosen -- MccCatchy Newspapers

In his new book, "The Great American Awakening," Sen. Jim DeMint describes himself as an upstart freshman lawmaker on a lonely mission among "sorry rascals" infuriated by his bucking of venerable Senate practices in his bid to cut federal spending and limit colleagues' ability to fund local projects. Describing his book as a story of "the battle for America's soul," DeMint said he was tired of Washington after his first term and came close to not seeking re-election last year, but God persuaded him to stay in the fight. DeMint's criticism of President Barack Obama in the book is relentless as he accuses the president of trying to impose "European-style socialism" on the United States. Yet, DeMint also charges Obama's Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, with having abandoned conservative tenets."The Great American Awakening: Two Years that Changed America, Washington, and Me,"

"Some Will Call Me A Torturer": CIA Man Reveals Secret Jail

Spencer Ackerman -- Wired

Glenn Carle, a former CIA operative, isn't sure whether he's the hero or the villain of his own story. Distilled, that story, told in Carle's new memoir "The Interrogator: An Education," is this: In the months after 9/11, the CIA kidnaps a suspected senior member of al-Qaida and takes him to a Mideast country for interrogation. It assigns Carle -- like nearly all his colleagues then, an inexperienced interrogator -- to pry information out of him. Uneasy with the CIA's new, relaxed rules for questioning, which allow him to torture, Carle instead tries to build a rapport with the man he calls CAPTUS. But CAPTUS doesn't divulge the al-Qaida plans the CIA suspects him of knowing. So the agency sends him to "Hotel California: an unacknowledged prison, beyond the reach of the Red Cross or international law. Carle goes with him. Though heavily censored by the CIA, Carle provides the first detailed description of a so-called "black site."

Is The Internet Bringing Out Your Dark Side? A New Book Says Technology Is Changing Our Personalities ... For The Worse

Marianne Power -- Daily Mail (UK)

Elias Aboujaoude, a doctor at Stanford University's school of medicine and author of "Virtually You: The Dangerous Powers of the E-Personality," believes it is transforming our personalities. He warns many of us are developing 'e-personalities' that are like the worst, drunken versions of ourselves. "Our e-personalities are an uninhibited version of who we are, a collection of personality traits that make us more child-like, impulsive, darker and narcissistic," he says. "This distorted version of who we are doesn't just stay online; it seeps into our real lives, too."

La Toya Jackson Claims "Michael Was Murdered" In New Book

Daily Mail (UK)

During an appearance on "The Today Show" to promote her new memoir "Starting Over," La Toya told host Matt Lauer how her late brother had told her he was afraid of being assassinated over his multi-million dollar music publishing catalogue. "He told me exactly who he was referring to, he was terrified, he had this catalogue that they wanted," she said. "You have to remember this catalogue was more than 750,000 songs." La Toya, who recently appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice," claimed that "everyone who surrounded" the singer wanted control of the catalogue.

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

A reader who wishes to remain anonymous sent in this criticism:

Great news coverage. Too bad you market by exploitation of women and by increasing interest in our already broken sex saturated sex focused culture. Why not drop the rot and go for excellence. I had possibly considered financial support but not with your sex oriented lead headlines. Please consider a change.

Robert Jay March Responds:

Actually, I agree with you. The reason we put the "exploitation" articles in is that, since we began doing so, our traffic has gone up 30%, and with that, advertising revenue. Regretably, sex sells.
I am a disabled, home-bound journalist, and MarchReport.com is how I make my living. I must use any means to get traffic up in order to survive, even if I find the method(s) distasteful. Also, as I have been celibate for 15 years, I find these articles even more offensive than you do. I've experimented with removing them, and traffic goes way down. I have to do what I must to survive, both individually and as a daily web site news platform. Just skip over the articles you find offensive.

Reader Jacob Martin of North Carolina sent in this criticism:

In response to your editorial on BHO's birth certificate, you seem to end it by saying "Oh, well, let's just move on." This attitude is the reason our country is in the shape it is in. If we don't find out for sure and prosecute all involved, to include the "criminal-in-chief", and incarcerate them, then we have no excuse for any future fraud perpetuated on our nation. I've heard that the "government is scared to prosecute" because of the anarchy that will ensure from blacks, well, it's time to deal with that too. Every time something happens in this country and blacks don't like the outcome, they mob, riot, loot and destroy public and private property; and blacks are not alone, as the liberal "march on wall street" group are no better. Our founding fathers stood up for something and we as a nation are letting them, ourselves, and our future down. Liberals as a whole are destroying the very foundation of what this country stands for and it needs to stop now.

Robert Jay March Responds:

You need to read the Editorial again, as it seems you have missed the key point: I believe the birth certificate Obama released is real, and that the unflattened layers were left there as "red meat" for those unwilling to let it go. After stating that, I went on to discuss the "what if it's not" scenarios.
The Founding Fathers actually lived in world of despots and not-so-benelovent dictators; their courage was forged in that cauldron. The "leaders" of our country today are made of a weaker alloy, where freedom is the assumed norm. The axiom "freedom is not free" is lost on them; only those of us who are the children of Holocaust survivors and Iron Curtain escapees comprehend that it is not. If it turns out that the birth certificate is not real, there is no one in a position of authority who has the courage to act on it: absolutely no one. If the Supreme Court ever actually displayed to courage to hear this case, they'd simply issue another Bush v. Gore type of ruling, and would let Obama remain in office.
Your efforts would be better spent on seeing to it that he is not allowed to serve a second term.

A reader who wished to be referred to by the nom de plume "Great Granny Jane" wrote:

Hi, just wish to let you know how much I love your Report! And please,if possible do not stop ! I would be happy to help, financially, but am almost 90 yrs old, on an extremely limited income, but I will, if I ever have any extra, count on me to send you a wee bit!

Robert Jay March Responds:

While I welcome donations from those who are willing and able, the fact is that most readers do not donate, and that's fine. I'm delighted to have you as a reader. I thank you for your kind note, and congratulate you on your longevity.

Spirited "Black Friday" Has Much Darker Roots

Martinne Geller -- Reuters

Most Americans associate the words "Black Friday" with the ritual of excited consumers rising early to begin holiday shopping in search of doorbuster deals, but the term's origins have a deeper, darker meaning. "Black Friday" was used to describe September 24, 1869, which, according to the American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms, was a Friday when two stock manipulators tried to corner the gold market and caused its collapse. ...

YEST Sagging Economy Means Scaled-Back Thanksgiving Dinner For Many Americans

Video AND TEXT. Some are holding potluck dinners instead of springing for the entire feast. Others are staying home rather than flying. And a few are skipping the turkey altogether. On this the fourth Thanksgiving since the economy sank, prices for everything from airline flights to groceries are going up, and some Americans are scaling back. Yet in many households, the occasion is too important to skimp on. Said one mother: "I don't have much to give, but I'll be cooking, and the door will be open." Thanksgiving airfares are up 20 percent this year, and the average price of a gallon of gas has risen almost 20 percent, according to travel tracker AAA.  Will World War III Be Between The U.S. And China?

Max Hastings -- Daily Mail (UK)

American strategy guru Paul Stares says: "If past experience is any guide, the United States and China will find themselves embroiled in a serious crisis at some point in the future." Beijing makes no secret of its determination to rule the oil-rich South China Sea, heedless of the claims of others such as Vietnam and the Philippines. The Chinese foreign minister recently gave a speech in which he reminded the nations of South-East Asia that they are small, while China is very big. Michael Auslin of the American Enterprise Institute described these remarks as the diplomatic equivalent of the town bully saying to the neighbors: "We really hope nothing happens to your nice new car." Auslin, like many other Americans, is infuriated by the brutishness with which the dragon is now flexing its military muscles: "We have a China that is undermining the global system that allowed it to get rich and powerful, a China that now feels a sense of grievance every time it is called to account for its disruptive behavior." ...

Laurel And Hardy Fan Group Keeps Laughs Alive

Susan King -- Los Angeles Times

They meet every Tuesday afternoon at the famous Culver Hotel in Culver City, seated at a center table in the restaurant, engaged in lively, loud luncheon conversation. They are members of the Sons of the Desert, the international Laurel and Hardy appreciation society, and a more devoted group is hard to find. The name derives from the 1933 comedy starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. They play friends with domineering wives who hope to attend a convention of their fraternal organization, called Sons of the Desert. The film society has "tents" all over the world, including several in California, with the Way Out West tent in Hollywood. A recent Sons gathering was particularly ebullient. The group was thrilled about the recent release of "Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection" DVD set which contains 58 comedy shorts and features starring the gangly Englishman Laurel and the portly Hardy that they made for producer Hal Roach from 1929 through 1940. Among the highlights are "Sons of the Desert," 1937's "Way Out West," 1938's "Block-Heads" and 1932's Academy Award-winning short "The Music Box," in which the boys try to deliver a piano up a massive flight of stairs.

Jerome R. Corsi -- World Net Daily

Over the past few years, the E-Verify system has received national attention because of its ability to determine if prospective employees are illegal immigrants who have entered the United States without the legal authority to work. Entering Obama's Social Security Number into the E-Verify Self Check, the system indicated Obama's Social Security Number produced a mismatch that warranted a visit to the Social Security Administration to investigate the discrepancy. ...

Missing the Plot While Chasing the MacGuffin

by Robert Jay March
Sunday, May 1, 2011

Just as we were about to post the Wednesday, April 27, 2011 issue of MarchReport.com, a bulletin came in to the effect that Barack Obama had finally released his long-form birth certificate. Since it was "press-time," I uploaded the issue, sent out that day's newsletters, and then went to the WhiteHouse.gov web site to download the birth certificate. I revised that day's issue to include the story, with a link to the pdf file of the birth certificate as released by the White House.

Having covered the story that we called "Certifi-Gate" since October 22, 2008, I was relieved that it was finally over ... or, so I thought. I was tired of being called a racist (despite the fact that I myself am racially mixed, being a mix of Polish, Ukrainian and Mongolian ancestry), a right wing conspiracy theorist (despite the fact that the story originated with Linda Starr, a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter and ultra-left-wing zealot who advocated the impeachment of President Bush, the arrest of Harriet Miers, Josh Bolton, and Karl Rove by the U.S. House of Representatives' Sergeant At Arms, and a Radio Left/Daily KOS partisan; and was initially prosecuted by Philip J. Berg, a Democrat, former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania and former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, who had worked on her campaign). I was sick of the death threats, although those had tapered off in proportion to the decline in Obama's popularity.

After uploading the revised April 27 issue, I took a closer look at the pdf file. Being a computer graphics specialist since 1971, and having made the transition from mainframe to desktop software in 1991, I had worked with Photoshop since version 2 and Illustrator since version 3, I immediately saw evidence of layering in the document. "Oh, Scheißdreck," I said to myself ("Scheißdreck" wasn't the word I used, actually, but some kids read this page, and I'm a father and grandfather myself). The following day I found, unsurprisingly, that others had spotted it as well. I even ran articles and videos over the next couple of days, which described the analysis performed by others.

The layers could be innocent enough, in that some modern scanning software breaks typographic elements into layers to facilitate optical character recognition; but, PhotoShop and Illustrator offer the option of flattening the layers into one. Was the failure to do this the result of a naive operator who was insufficiently familiar with the software, or who simply did not comprehend that the presence of these un-flattened layers would drive those who believed with all their hearts and souls that Obama was a usurper ... a Manchurian Candidate in office ... nuts. Was it simple sloppiness caused by the desire to get this out quickly and embarrass Donald Trump? If so, that sure backfired, having made Trump look like the titan who finally forced Obama's hand. Or, were the layers left in place deliberately, to make it look like the document had been falsified. Was it red-meat for die-hard conspiracy theorists? Was it a new MacGuffin for us to chase, while losing sight of the plot?

Alfred Hitchcock Redux.
With his 1935 film, "The 39 Steps," Alfred Hitchcock popularized the MacGuffin; both the term and the technique. Hitch described the MacGuffin technique as follows in a 1966 interview with François Truffaut:

"It might be a Scottish name, taken from a story about two men in a train. One man says "What's that package up there in the baggage rack?" and the other answers "Oh, that's a MacGuffin." The first one asks "What's a MacGuffin?" "Well," the other man says, "It's an apparatus for trapping lions in the Scottish Highlands." The first man says "But there are no lions in the Scottish Highlands," and the other one answers "Well, then that's no MacGuffin." So you see, a MacGuffin is nothing at all."

The MacGuffin is a person, place or thing that drives the narrative; but, as Hitchcock said in television interviews, "the audience don't care" what it is. I am of the opinion that we have been focusing so intently on tracking down the MacGuffin that we've lost sight of the plot.

Enter Stage Right.
By 2009, Obama had spent in excess of $1.3 Million to prevent his birth certificate from being released, and had succeeded in demonizing everyone who dared ask a question about it.

Enter Donald Trump, and suddenly, Obama releases it without a whimper. The "mainstream media," who as recently as the day before the release, had been saying for years that Obama had already released his birth certificate; that they'd already seen it, and that anyone who questioned Obama's legitimacy was a racist or a loon, suddenly was reporting on the release of his "private, long-form birth certificate" as if it was a mere footnote to the story, rather than the earth-shattering event that it was.

They either could not bring themselves to admit the obvious: that they had been dutifully reporting what the White House told them to report, much as Pravda would have done in the days of the Soviet Union, or they simply could not confront the truth about themselves. The days of reporters wearing out shoe-leather to follow a story where the facts lead have long since been over. This is the day of press-release journalism: A "source" supplies an alleged fact, another "source" confirms it over a three-martini lunch, and that gets reported as fact. The days of Edward R. Murrow, or even Walter Winchell, are over. These are the days of "Ted Baxter," the dim-witted news anchor played by Ted Knight (born Tadeusz Wladyslaw Konopka) on the "Mary Tyler Moore Show," come to life. One of the most valuable lessons learned from the whole Certifi-gate affair is that the "mainstream media," really the commercial media, are completely useless; and, I include Fox News in the bunch; they are simply the least rotten of the bad apples.

Is It Real, Or Is It Memorex?
Frankly, it doesn't matter. We've been "played," but they've shown their hand by going back to the well one too many times.

Why spend, by 2011, in excess of $2 Million to hide something, only to release an apparently tainted version of it when a political opponent was getting traction? In order to answer that, we have to look at what the Obama Administration has done with "ObamaCare"; they're using exactly the same methodology here.

Let me draw you an analogy as a way of easing you into an explanation of the methodology in play here. In the mid 1980's, I saw Geraldine Ferraro on the subway platform at the 71st Street and Continental Avenue station in Queens, N.Y., waiting for the E or F train, both of which stopped there in those days. Having been the first female candidate for Vice President on Walter Mondale's ticket, scrutiny of her husband John Zaccaro's finances contributed to the defeat of the Democrats.

In New York City, you only see celebrities on the subway at two points in their careers: when they're on their way up, and when they're on their way down. In both cases, they're looking for an ego-boost: a "recognition fix." Ferraro was very conspicuously trying to look inconspicuous, if you take my meaning. She was wearing dark glasses, which were very ill-advised on the dimly-lit platform, and was making exaggerated movements, such as pulling her fur collar up to her face, in a faux-attempt to conceal her identity. At that point, her career appeared to be over, and she had no way of knowing that brighter days were ahead. She needed the "recognition fix," and by her movements, sought to assure herself that she was still known and recognized, that she was still a "celebrity."

For three years now, the unreleased birth certificate of Barack Obama has been very conspicuously trying to look inconspicuous. With the help of the Democratic Party's lackeys in the media, the story that should not be talked about was talked about incessantly, making those of us who followed the story look like fools, racists, or both. Never mind that fact that the first candidate whose eligibility under Article II Section 1 of the Constitution (the "natural born" clause) was not Barack Obama, but John McCain. McCain responded by immediately releasing all of his documents, and the Senate responded by passing Senate Resolution 511 , by unanimous consent. The resolution, co-sponsored by then-Senator Barack Obama, recognized that John Sidney McCain, III, is a natural born citizen, and eligible to run for and, if elected, serve as the President. From the bill: "Whereas John Sidney McCain, III, was born to American citizens on an American military base in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That John Sidney McCain, III, is a 'natural born Citizen' under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States."

Is It Hocus Pocus, Or Is It Bogus POTUS?
So, what does any of this have to do with "ObamaCare"? The methodology being used to push "ObamaCare" forward is the very same methodology as that being used vis-à-vis the birth certificate.

On January 31, 2011, senior federal judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Roger Vinson ruled that "ObamaCare" was unconstitutional in its entirety because it violates the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. Having so ruled, an injunction was unnecessary; the Executive Branch was required cease all enforcement of the law because the law itself had been declared null and void. Nonetheless, the Obama Administration, who's most significant accomplishment thus far has been the new and innovative ways it has discovered to circumvent the Constitution, continued to enforce the unconstitutional "law." On March 3, 2011, Vinson stayed his order, giving the Obama administration seven days to file an appeal; just seven days. In his stay order, Vinson harshly criticized the Obama Administration, saying "It was not expected that they would effectively ignore the order and declaratory judgment for 2-1/2 weeks, continue to implement the act and, only then, file a belated motion to 'clarify.'" By dragging its feet and thus (yet again) circumventing the Constitution, the Obama Administration has effectively bought itself free reign to get "ObamaCare" so embedded in the health care system that it will be impossible to dismantle.

The same logic has been at work all along on the birth certificate. Assuming it's real, as I do, the reason for the long stall is obvious. The term "natural born citizen," at the time of the drafting of the Constitution, was commonly understood to mean the offspring of parents who were natural born citizens at their birth; note the plural: parents.

Obama's birth certificate clearly shows that he is the son of a mother who was an American Citizen, and a father who was a Kenyan Citizen. It is on this basis that attorneys such as Mario Apuzzo have filed litigation to have Obama disqualified. In all of my prior editorials and podcasts, I have made clear that I was not willing to take it this far: if the long-form birth certificate were to be released, and it showed Obama was born in the United States, I would be satisfied. That was, and remains, my position on the issue, but, since I am not a Supreme Court Justice, my opinion carries no legal weight.

This, obviously, is the reason why the birth certificate was withheld for so long. Although I consider it unlikely that a Court that has refused to hear legitimate suits on this issue based on spurious issues of "standing" would disqualify Obama based on the interpretation of Apuzzo, et al., the possibility existed. Thus, the "Mystery of The Birth Certificate" was crafted, to keep it from being released long enough that a disqualification of Obama would cause chaos. Were he to be disqualified, every law he signed would be null-and-void; effectively pocket vetoed. Our gutless Supreme Court would have issued another "one-off" ruling, as it did in the case of Bush v. Gore, where it resolved the 2000 presidential election in favor of George W. Bush, declaring that the ruling was "limited to the present circumstances."

Fooled Me Once, Shame on You; Fooled Me Twice, Shame On Me.
I am open to the possibility that the birth certificate released is a forgery, but I seriously doubt it. I am of the opinion that the birth certificate released is real, and that the layers that appear are a result of how modern scanning software scans documents. I also believe that the layers were not flattened to give renewed life to the MacGuffin we've been chasing for three years.

Until Wednesday, the preponderance of evidence lead to the conclusion that Obama had something to hide. Release of the certificate tips the scales. The preponderance of evidence now leads to the belief that he hid the certificate to prevent a challenge based on his father's nationality.

Continuing to pursue the birth certificate issue is a losing proposition, and will guarantee a second term to Barack Obama. It will make it look like all of the accusations of racism and conspiracy theories were correct, and will tarnish any candidate who pursues it.

About a decade ago, I took a vow to myself that I would not lie to anyone about anything, ever. It was a logical progression of a vow I took in the mid-1970's, when my daughter was born: that I would never lie to her about anything, ever. I never did, not even about Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Approximately 10 years ago, my child by then being an adult and on her own, and anyone else I had to protect having passed on, I decided to risk applying that to my dealings with everyone. Over and over again, I have paid a very high price for doing so, but maintain that vow to this day in all my dealings.

In that spirit, it's time to admit that we were "had" by a master practitioner of deep-dish Chicago politics. We have nothing to be ashamed of. We followed the facts where they led. That they led exactly where Obama wanted them to lead is no fault of ours. Fooled me once, shame on you; fooled me twice, shame on me. As "The Who" suggested, "Don't get fooled again"

MarchReport.com will continue to cover developments in the Certifi-Gate issue, and will follow the facts where they lead, as we have always done; but, we will do so from the perspective cited above.

MarchReport.com is hardly the most important outlet covering this story, but the White House reads our stuff anyway. In the spirit of respect for an adversary, I request that whomever at the White House is tasked with doing so relay this message: "Well played, Mr. President."

Obama Leaves God Out Of Thanksgiving Speech, Riles Critics

Joel Siegel -- ABC News(US)

Critics of President Obama felt little holiday cheer after the president did not thank God in his Thanksgiving-themed weekly Internet address. They immediately took to Twitter and the Internet to voice anger and disbelief. "Holy cow! Is that one screwed up or what?" columnist Sherman Frederick of the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote in a Thanksgiving-morning blog post. "Somebody ought to remind Obama (and his speechwriter) that when Americans sit down around a meal today and give thanks, they give thanks to God." Over on the website of Fox News Radio, radio host Todd Starnes also took issue. "His remarks were void of any religious references, although Thanksgiving is a holiday traditionally steeped in giving thanks and praise to God," Starnes wrote. "The president said his family was 'reflecting on how truly lucky we truly are,'" Starnes said. "For many Americans, though, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on how blessed and thankful they are." The popular website of London's Daily Mail has taken the issue global, with a story under the headline "What a Turkey! Outrage as Obama Leaves God Out of His Thanksgiving Address." ...

Thomas And Kagan Asked To Sit Out Health Care Case

Mark Sherman -- Associated Press

Conservative interest groups and Republican lawmakers want Justice Elena Kagan off the health care case. Liberals and Democrats in Congress say it's Justice Clarence Thomas who should sit it out. Neither justice is budging: the right decision, according to many ethicists and legal experts. None of the parties in the case has asked the justices to excuse themselves, but underlying the calls on both sides is their belief that the conservative Thomas is a sure vote to strike down President Barack Obama's health care law and that the liberal Kagan is certain to uphold the main domestic achievement of the man who appointed her. Taking away just one vote potentially could tip the outcome on the nine-justice court. ...

The former House speaker entered volatile territory on Tuesday at the GOP presidential debate when he voiced support for allowing long-term illegal immigrants to stay in the country -- a proposal his presidential rivals were quick to characterize as amnesty. The accusation is potentially troublesome for Gingrich, who has been surging in the polls, and one he's already seeking to rebut by saying that it's the only "humane" option. "The party that says it's the party of the family is going to adopt an immigration policy which destroys families who have been here a quarter century," said Gingrich, who denied his proposal amounted to amnesty. YEST German 10-Year Bond Auction A "Disaster"

William James -- Reuters

A "disastrous" sale of German benchmark bonds sparked fears on Wednesday the debt crisis was beginning to threaten even Berlin, with the Bundesbank forced to dig deep into its pockets to ensure the auction did not fail. In one of the least successful debt sales by Europe's powerhouse economy since the launch of the single currency, the low returns offered -- just 2 percent annually over 10 years -- deterred investors made uneasy by the escalating cost of the crisis to Germany. That meant the central bank had to pick up 39 percent of the 6 billion euros ($8 billion) of debt Germany had hoped to sell after commercial banks bought just 3.644 billion euros of the issue. "It is a complete and utter disaster," said Marc Ostwald, strategist at Monument Securities in London. ...

YEST Sarah Palin Got Scolded By Roger Ailes For Not Announcing Her Non-Candidacy On Fox News

Gabriel Sherman -- New York Magazine

Sarah Palin's announcement that she wouldn't run for president disappointed her legions of admirers, but it infuriated Roger Ailes. The Fox News chief wasn't angry about the decision itself. Rather, he was livid that Palin made the October 5 announcement on Mark Levin's conservative talk-radio program, robbing Fox News of an exclusive and a possible ratings bonanza. Fox was relegated to getting a follow-up interview with Palin on Greta Van Susteren's 10 p.m. show, after the news of Palin's decision had been drowned out by Steve Jobs's death. Ailes was so mad, he considered pulling her off the air entirely until her $1 million annual contract expires in 2013. ...

YEST The Key To How Mankind Evolved So Quickly? Having Our Grandparents Around

Fiona Macrae -- Daily Mail (UK)

They dote on their grandchildren, offer a treasure trove of wisdom and provide an invaluable babysitting service; but, it seems grandparents have a more crucial role: survival of the species. Their practical and financial support helps keep youngsters fit and healthy, while their love and ability to listen helps children and teens get through difficult periods such as the divorce of their parents. The conclusions come from Swiss and Australian researchers who analyzed previous studies from around the world to pin down the role of grandparents. Several studies have linked grandmothers, in particular, with survival of the species. ...

Is Obama Building An Armageddon-Proof Bunker Under The White House?

Daniel Bates -- Daily Mail (UK)

Workmen have torn up an enormous section of the lawn in front of the White House for a mysterious, top secret project. The hole by the West Wing is roughly 100ft by 100ft in size and has for the first time in living memory left the ground and pipes beneath the Oval office exposed to the elements. The White House already has a number of tunnels; the exact number is, of course, classified. The most well known is the underground corridor that leads to the President's Emergency Operations Center, a supposedly nuclear-proof bunker located six stories under the East Wing. It was to this bunker and its adjacent Executive Briefing Room that Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice, among others, directed Government operations on September 11, 2001. ...

Obama Nullifies And Ends U.S. Constitution

Sher Zieve -- Canada Free Press (CA)

Sometime in May 2011, Mr. Obama illegally threatened the then-sovereign State of Texas with the US government's establishment of a "No Fly Zone" (a term previously used by the US government to enact wars against enemy countries) over Texas if the State leaders and its population refused to go along with illegal sexual groping intimidation techniques delivered by a US government entity misnamed as the "Transportation Safety Agency." As this illegal act by the Obama regime (also see "Obama Syndicate") was never met by any real or lasting resistance from US Congressional leaders or the old Marxist-Leninist court system, the US Constitution was effectively rendered null and void and the United States of America -- along with the world -- entered into what has come to be known as the "Second Dark Age" of mankind. ...

Federal Debt Will Reach More Than 100% Of GDP For 1st Time Since World War II Under Obama's Budget

Jerome R. Corsi -- World Net Daily

Barack Obama's release of the 2012 budget was met by considerable skepticism, despite administration claims that the proposed spending cuts will put the government on track to half the budget deficit by the end of Obama's first term in office. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 12,268, down five points on a day in which the market traded mostly down as experts sorted through the details of the budget. Almost immediately after the 216-page plan was released, along with a 1,368-page appendix and a third 360-page volume of historical tables, critics pointed out that Obama's budget conceded that 2011 will see the largest one-year jump in debt in U.S. history, almost $2 trillion in a single year. With the release of these documents, the Obama administration was forced to concede that the national debt will total $15.476 trillion by Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year. The debt will reach 102.6 percent of the gross domestic product, or GDP, for the first time since the end of World War II. ...

Obama Blaming Others For His Failures

Michael Goodwin -- New York Post

When word got out that Barack Obama told an interviewer he had learned from his mistakes, the grandees of the political class swarmed to the bait. Like primitive mystics "reading" the entrails of a sacrificial animal, they began dissecting his comments to divine whether the president is signaling a course change after the election. No, he's not going to change. Why mess with perfection? Obama thinks he did everything right and nothing wrong. And he remains stuck on blaming others, including voters, the media, Republicans, Washington, and impossible-to-please liberals. In short, nearly halfway through his term, Obama still doesn't get it. He's clueless about his massive failures, which means, if he's given the chance, we can expect more of them. ...

Perspective From The Left: How Obama Screws His Base

Eric Alterman -- Daily Beast

In case you hadn't heard, yes Barack Obama did go before a $30,000-per-person Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Greenwich, Connecticut -- the hedge-fund capital of the world -- and (at the home, I kid you not, of a guy named "Rich Richman" ) complain about how silly his base was being. (Laughter.) "If we get an historic health-care bill passed -- oh, well, the public option wasn't there. If you get the financial-reform bill passed -- then, well, I don't know about this particular derivatives rule, I'm not sure that I'm satisfied with that. And gosh, we haven't yet brought about world peace and -- (laughter.) I thought that was going to happen quicker." (Laughter.) With your own party heading for disaster in the polls, a number of its candidates are running away from you faster than you can say, "You really considered this guy for vice president?" ...

An Inconvenient Lie

"The Stink Of Intellectual Corruption Is Overpowering"

Rob Waugh -- Daily Mail (UK)

Following on from the original "climategate" emails of 2009, the new package appears to show systematic suppression of evidence, and even publication of reports that scientists knew to to be based on flawed approaches. And, not only do the emails paint a picture of scientists manipulating data, government employees at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) are also implicated. The emails paint a clear picture of scientists selectively using data, and colluding with politicians to misuse scientific information. Clive Crook, a commentator for the Atlantic, who described the earlier inquiries into the Climategate emails as "ineffectual" and "mealy mouthed," reportedly said, "The closed-mindedness of these supposed men of science, their willingness to go to any lengths to defend a preconceived message, is surprising even to me. The stink of intellectual corruption is overpowering." ...

YEST Fresh Round Of Hacked Climate Science Emails Leaked Online

Leo Hickman -- Guardian (UK)

A fresh bunch of private emails exchanged between leading climate scientists throughout the last decade was released online on Tuesday. The unauthorized publication is an apparent attempt to repeat the impact of a similar release of emails on the eve of the Copenhagen climate summit in late 2009. The initial email dump was apparently timed to disrupt the Copenhagen climate talks. It prompted three official inquiries in the UK and two in the US into the working practices of climate scientists. Although these were critical of the scientists' handling of Freedom of Information Act requests and lack of openness they did not find fault with the climate change science they had produced. The emails appear to be genuine, but the University of East Anglia said the "sheer volume of material" meant it was not yet able to confirm that they were. One of the emailers, the climate scientist Prof Michael Mann, has confirmed that he believes they are his messages. The lack of any emails post-dating the 2009 release suggests that they were obtained at the same time, but held back. Their release now suggests they are intended to cause maximum impact before the upcoming climate summit in Durban which starts on Monday. ...

    Exclusive:
Montana Woman, Blinded As A Result Of Her Doctor's Incompetence, Thrown Out On The Street By Heartless Nursing Home On That Same Doctor's Orders

    by Robert Jay March

Stefanie Monington of Montana is a long-time MarchReport.com reader. More accurately, she was until she was rendered blind as a result of the apparent incompetence of her primary care doctor. Below, I relate the facts of the case as described to me by Ms Monington.

On June 15, she was hospitalized in Sidney Health Center, Sidney MT, with severe headache, nausea and loss of vision. On June 20, she was moved to Sidney Health Center Extended Care, a nursing home located at 104 14th Ave NW, Sidney MT.

I am withholding the name of Ms Monington's primary care doctor, in that he is the villain of the piece. For the purposes of this article, we'll call him "Dr H." The doctors referred to by their real names are the "good guys."

The nurses scheduled an appointment with an optometrist on July 1. Her pain and vision continued to worsen, and she pleaded with the staff for help, to no avail. A call to "Dr H" resulted in his telling the staff that her eye condition was "not such an emergency" that she could not wait until July 1. According to Ms Monington, some of the staff even accused her of faking her blindness. "Dr H" is under contract to Sidney Health Center to provide primary care services and clinic coverage on a regular basis.

Ms Monington is a former employee of mine, who stayed in touch after moving west several years ago. Having become desperate, with no one else to turn to, she wanted to call on me for help. She was prevented from doing so by the nursing home staff, even though the number she would be calling was an 800 number that would cost the nursing home nothing. On Thursday, June 23, she finally managed to get through to me, begging me to intervene on her behalf.

I called the office of Dr Gregory Cavanaugh, the Optometrist she was scheduled to see on July 1. I described Ms Monington's symptoms to his wife, who was very concerned, and relayed the information to her husband. Dr Cavanaugh contacted the nursing home and directed the she be transported to him the following day. Dr Cavanaugh was shocked by what he saw, and could not understand why she had not been brought to him immediately on June 15. He said "something must be done right now to save your sight," and described the case as "beyond his pay grade." He referred her to a specialist, Dr Mark Morin, E MD of Trinity Regional Eye-Care in Williston, ND, who saw her that very day and diagnosed Ms Monington with Acute Narrow Angle Glaucoma.

Drs Cavanaugh and Morin are the heroes of the piece, with Cavanaugh playing "Robin" to Morin's "Batman." According to Ms Monington, Dr Morin said that, had she not been seen until July 1 as originally planned, she would have been rendered permanently blind. As it was, the delay in treatment caused permanent damage to her optic nerves. Her sight, at present, could be compared to that of a normal person having entered a very dimly lit theater. She can see shadows and blurs; she doesn't run into walls, but she can't see faces or read letters less than 1/4 inch tall. Remember, this is a woman who had normal vision less than two weeks earlier.

The onset of Acute Narrow Angle Glaucoma was apparently caused by cataracts, that had developed so slowly she hadn't noticed them. The cataracts in turn blocked the tear drainage ducts of her eyes, causing the pressure to build up.

You would think that the staff of Sidney Health Center Extended Care would be happy that Ms Monington had finally been correctly diagnosed, but such was not the case. According to Ms Monington, someone who identified herself as a member of the Nursing Home's Administrative Staff severely scolded Ms Monington for "causing such a fuss" and getting everyone upset. This same person was one of the people who had originally accused Ms Monington of "faking it."

Dr Morin performed surgery on her right eye, but there was no improvement in her vision. The delay in treatment, which was totally avoidable, had caused permanent damage. He intended to make an attempt on her left eye. She was to be seen again Thursday, Sept 1, but this appointment was missed as a result of Sidney Health Center Extended Care discharging her against her will, on the instructions of "Dr H": the same doctor who misdiagnosed her and obstructed her attempts to obtain proper care promptly.

To be fair, they didn't put her right on the street: they agreed to pay for one day at the Richland Motor Inn in Sidney, MT, after which she is on her own. As Ms Monington describes it, she was rendered blind by the apparent incompetence of "Dr H," tossed out on the street by Sidney Health Center Extended Care at the direction of the same "Dr H," who prevented her from getting immediate care from a qualified doctor in the first place. She also had no way of getting to Williston, ND to see Dr Morin, since she is no longer a patient of the nursing home, and therefor had no means of transportation there and back.

As a result of her blindness, she is helpless. She cannot go home because she lives in Lambert, MT in the middle of nowhere, lives alone, and cannot see to navigate her way around the house or even cook food. To add insult to injury, her landlord has served her with an eviction notice because, as a result of her situation, she has been unable to pay her rent for the last two months.

I am disabled and homebound myself, and produce MarchReport.com single-handed in the hope of being of some service to the community at large. As such, all I can do myself is publicize the situation, in the hope of handing the story off to a larger media outlet who can take it to the finish line.

I am requesting the help of the MarchReport.com readership on behalf of Ms Monington, as she is now totally helpless through no fault of her own. She is faced with the prospect of living in her car, which she cannot drive because of her blindness. Due to the oil boom in that part of Montana, apartments are nearly impossible to get. Everything is full. Even the homeless shelter has a waiting list, so that is not an option. Adult protective services is working with a local minister to find a place for Ms Monington, or work with her landlord so that, with some aid, she can return home. Please try to visualize yourself in this position. Faced with this nightmare, what would you hope for from others? Please consider rendering that help to Ms Monington. Winters in Montana are very cold.

Feel free to pass this on to any and all media outlets (tv, radio, newspaper, web, et al.) Any reputable media outlet can call me at 1-800-878-6007 between midnight and 2pm Eastern time (you work odd hours when you produce a news site) to request Ms Monington's cel phone number, which is presently the only way to contact her. I am not publishing it here to protect her from crank calls.

Temporarily, donations for Ms Monington can be sent to Stefanie Monington, PO Box 157, Lambert MT 59243. Ms Monington is working with a local official who is associated with the Salvation Army, who is in the process of setting up a fund for her. This information will be posted as soon as it is available. You may also use the MarchReport.com donation web form to make a donation by credit card, but please also send a separate e-mail saying that the donation you made is for Ms Monington, so that the funds donated on her behalf get to her, rather than mixed in with reader donations to MarchReport.com itself.

Ms Monington says that, had it not been for the help she received from MarchReport.com, she would have been rendered permanently blind for the rest of her life. Perhaps so, but the battle is only beginning. Ms Monington says she has reason to believe that medical records are being falsified by people wishing to cover their tracks, and her current desperate situation may prevent her from getting the ongoing care she needs. Please do what you can to help, be it in the form of donations, calls to media, prayers, or by putting pressure on those who did this to her to make it right. Also, please don't hassle Drs Cavanaugh and Morin; again, they're the "good guys."
