According to Article II, Section I of the Constitution, Obama has never been eligible for the Presidency because he is not a natural born citizen, i.e. someone born in the US of citizen parents at the time of birth. Over the last thirty years, there have been numerous attempts by Congress to change the Article II natural born requirement to "native born," which is, born in the US regardless of parentage or just "citizen," whether native or naturalized (good news for Arnold). By electing Obama without an Amendment, the Constitution has been undermined and a precedent has been established to eliminate the term "natural born" from Article II, Section I. It is interesting to note that those who questioned John McCain's eligibility were not called derogatory names like "birther." They were deemed serious people asking valid questions related to the Constitution. ...

 AND TEXT. "I'm not a 'birther,'" Hawaii State Sen. Sam Slom told Jeff Katz of WXKS Radio in Boston, "and I followed this from the very beginning. At first I followed it with amusement, and then I got really concerned about it, because the question was if it was not just the birth certificate, but other records as well - school records, academic records, work records - why would anyone spend millions of dollars in legal fees, particularly someone in public office, particularly someone in the highest public office, to not make that information public? ... Why would anybody, let alone the president, spend all this money, all this time, all this effort, not to disclose the information? And of course, we can come up with several different possibilities, but as Donald Trump and others have said, gee, it would be so much simpler if he just disclosed it and we move on." ...

Trump, who is contemplating a presidential run in 2012, providED a copy of his official birth certificate issued by the New York City Department of Health. It shows that "Donald John Trump" was born June 14, 1946 in Jamaica Hospital in Queens.It lists his father as Fred C. Trump and his mother as Mary Mac Leod. The date of the report is listed as June 14, 1946. Trump has been turning up the volume on his calls for Obama, who has been the target of allegations that he was not born in the United States by so-called "birthers," to release his official birth certificate. "This guy either has a birth certificate or he doesn't," Trump said. ...

 In an interview with Greta Van Susteren on the Fox News program "On The Record," Trump defended "birthers," explaining: "They just want to see the President was born in this country. They just want to see the President actually has a birth certificate ... I want him to have a birth certificate, because that would mean that his presidency was ... I guess you'd have to say ... illegal. You have to be born in the United States. I hope that he was born in the United States. I hope ... but I want to get ride of the word hope, I want to know for sure." ...

 AND TEXT. "It's a very simple situation," Trump says in regard to the birth certificate issue. "I'd just like to see his birth certificate. "I'm hearing all sorts of stories that his own family can't agree which hospital he was born in and lots of other things, and I'm trying to find out where is the birth certificate. I have a birth certificate. Where is his birth certificate? Obama asserts that he was born in Honolulu, but former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General Philip Berg has claimed that Obama's paternal grandmother says she was in the delivery room when he was born in Kenya. ...

 On "The View," Trump demanded that Barack Obama produce his birth certificate, as the audience cheered him despite the panelists hostility. ...

Not even one person in 10 believes Barack Obama has shown that he is eligible to be president of the United States, according to a stunning new scientific poll that also reveals political Independents have less tolerance than even Republicans for his efforts to obfuscate the issue. "The shocking result in this survey is that just 9 percent said they believe Obama has met the requirements to prove he was born in the United States and is therefore qualified to be president," said Fritz Wenzel, chief of Wenzel Strategies, which conducted the assessment. ...

 AND TEXT. In an ABC interview on board his private jet, Mr Trump said: "He grew up and nobody knew him. You know? When you interview people, if ever I got the nomination, if I ever decide to run, you may go back and interview people from my kindergarten. They'll remember me. Nobody ever comes forward. Nobody knows who he his until later in his life. It's very strange. The whole thing is very strange." He also criticises those who attack the birther movement. "Everybody that even gives a hint of being a birther ... even a little bit of a hint, like, gee, you know, maybe, just maybe this much of a chance, they label them as an idiot," he said. "Let me tell you, I'm a really smart guy." ...

Barack Obama worked out his comedy chops last night, delivering a funny monologue at the annual Gridiron press dinner -- with the best bit coming right up front. As the Marine Band performed "Hail to the Chief" upon Obama's introduction, the president asked them to stop and perform the tune he requested earlier -- Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." Just a little message to those of us who don't believe Obama was born in Hawaii. [Editor's Note: It seems he just can't leave it alone. Is it significant that the remarks were made on March 15? As Brutus said in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" (Act 1, scene 2), "A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March."] ...

Election Law Chairman David Bates said his committee will consider a bill Wednesday to require candidates to provide a birth certificate and affidavit swearing they are at least 35 years old and have lived in the United States for 14 years, as called for in the U.S. Constitution to qualify for the presidency. "They need to produce a certified copy of the long form of their birth certificate and an affidavit swearing to residency," the Windham Republican said Tuesday. [Editor's Note: The linked article states as a fact, "Obama was born in Hawaii." This is an assertion that remains open to debate, as the dozens of stories on our Certifi-Gate pages detail.] ...

The "Presidential Eligibility Assurance Act" would require presidential and vice presidential candidates must provide "adequate evidence" of their eligibility to the Georgia Secretary of State's office before they can be included on the state's ballot, the bills' summary said. The bill is sponsored by Republican Rep. Mark Hatfield. Hatfield said he wasn't a "birther" but a Constitutionalist, adding he thinks evidence of Obama's birth never has been made public. ...

In a stunning move, the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled another "conference" on a legal challenge to Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, but officials there are not answering questions about whether two justices given their jobs by Obama will participate. The court has confirmed that it has distributed a petition for rehearing in the case brought by attorney John Hemenway on behalf of retired Col. Gregory Hollister and it will be the subject of a conference on March 4. It was in January that the court denied, without comment, a request for a hearing on the arguments. But the attorney at the time had submitted a motion for Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, who were given their jobs by Obama, to recuse. Should Obama ultimately be shown to have been ineligible for the office, his actions, including his appointments, at least would be open to challenge and question. ...

 AND TEXT. MSNBC's "Hardball" host Chris Matthews, who earlier announced he is the "enemy of birthers" but said even so he thinks Barack Obama should release his birth certificate, now has suggested that the online, computer-generated image of a Certification of Live Birth from Hawaii is the only document Obama has. Earlier, he was addressing Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie's statement that he was going to chase down Obama's original state birth certificate to prove his eligibility. At the time, Matthews said, "I don't understand why doesn't the president just say send me a copy right now ... let's get this crappy story dead." Abercrombie later said, according to his friend radio personality Mike Evans, that the document doesn't exist and expressed concern that the controversy will be a major issue for Obama during his planned 2012 presidential re-election campaign. Evans related how Abercrombie had taken over the governor's office assuming he'd be able to clear things up, but then couldn't find the records he was seeking. "Abercrombie was probably more shocked than anybody," Evans said. ...

Anyone would be able to get a copy of Barack Obama's birth records for a $100 fee under a bill introduced in the state Legislature that backers hope will finally dispel claims he was born elsewhere. The bill would change a privacy law barring the release of birth records unless the requester is someone with a tangible interest, such as a close family member. The measure was introduced by five Democrats but has not yet been scheduled for a public hearing, a required step before it can move forward. A decision on considering the bill will be made by the House's Democratic leadership and committee chairmen. ...

Former Hawaii elections clerk Tim Adams has now signed an affidavit swearing he was told by his supervisors in Hawaii that no long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate existed for Barack Obama Jr. in Hawaii and that neither Queens Medical Center nor Kapi'olani Medical Center in Honolulu had any record of Obama having been born in their medical facilities. "During the course of my employment," Adams swears in the affidavit, "I became aware that many requests were being made to the City and County of Honolulu Elections Division, the Hawaii Office of Elections, and the Hawaii Department of Health from around the country to obtain a copy of then-Senator Barack Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate." Adams' affidavit continues, "Senior officers in the City and County of Honolulu Elections Division told me on multiple occasions that no Hawaii long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate existed for Senator Obama in the Hawaii Department of Health and there was no record that any such document had ever been on file in the Hawaii Department of Health or any other branch or department of the Hawaii government." ...

In his 1995 memoir Dreams from My Father, Obama made the same claim. "He had left Hawaii back in 1963," he wrote of Obama Sr., "when I was only two years old." When Obama wrote this in Dreams, he may have been relating what he had himself been told. By 2009, he knew better, but so vested was he in the story, and so useful had it been in his rise, that he continued to dissemble, even before millions of schoolchildren. There are clues in Dreams, however, which suggest that Obama was creating a fiction for future use that he already knew to be untrue. ...

Barack Obama's release of the 2012 budget was met by considerable skepticism, despite administration claims that the proposed spending cuts will put the government on track to half the budget deficit by the end of Obama's first term in office. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 12,268, down five points on a day in which the market traded mostly down as experts sorted through the details of the budget. Almost immediately after the 216-page plan was released, along with a 1,368-page appendix and a third 360-page volume of historical tables, critics pointed out that Obama's budget conceded that 2011 will see the largest one-year jump in debt in U.S. history, almost $2 trillion in a single year. With the release of these documents, the Obama administration was forced to concede that the national debt will total $15.476 trillion by Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year. The debt will reach 102.6 percent of the gross domestic product, or GDP, for the first time since the end of World War II. ...

Top members of the Egyptian government say they feel betrayed by President Obama, charging that he is acting against American interests. Obama in recent days urged Mubarak to give up power in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood forms the main opposition. Mubarak has been a staunch U.S. ally and a recipient of billions of dollars in military aid. His regime has long been considered a stabilizing force in the Arab world. ...

When word got out that Barack Obama told an interviewer he had learned from his mistakes, the grandees of the political class swarmed to the bait. Like primitive mystics "reading" the entrails of a sacrificial animal, they began dissecting his comments to divine whether the president is signaling a course change after the election. No, he's not going to change. Why mess with perfection? Obama thinks he did everything right and nothing wrong. And he remains stuck on blaming others, including voters, the media, Republicans, Washington, and impossible-to-please liberals. In short, nearly halfway through his term, Obama still doesn't get it. He's clueless about his massive failures, which means, if he's given the chance, we can expect more of them. ...

In case you hadn't heard, yes Barack Obama did go before a $30,000-per-person Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Greenwich, Connecticut -- the hedge-fund capital of the world -- and (at the home, I kid you not, of a guy named "Rich Richman" ) complain about how silly his base was being. (Laughter.) "If we get an historic health-care bill passed -- oh, well, the public option wasn't there. If you get the financial-reform bill passed -- then, well, I don't know about this particular derivatives rule, I'm not sure that I'm satisfied with that. And gosh, we haven't yet brought about world peace and -- (laughter.) I thought that was going to happen quicker." (Laughter.) With your own party heading for disaster in the polls, a number of its candidates are running away from you faster than you can say, "You really considered this guy for vice president?" ...
