Einstein's Brain Unlocks Some Mysteries Of The Mind

Jon Hamilton -- National Public Radio

Audio AND TEXT. In the 55 years since Albert Einstein's death, many scientists have tried to figure out what made him so smart. But no one tried harder than a pathologist named Thomas Harvey, who lost his job and his reputation in a quest to unlock the secrets of Einstein's genius. Harvey never found the answer. But through an unlikely sequence of events, his search helped transform our understanding of how the brain works. How that happened is a bizarre story that involves a dead genius, a stolen brain, a rogue scientist and a crazy idea that turned out not to be so crazy. Michael Paterniti describes it all in his book, Driving Mr. Albert: A Trip Across America with Einstein's Brain.

The Struggle For Tibet

Reviewed by J. Michael Cole -- Taipei Times (TW)

After nearly half a century of Chine occupation of Tibet, riots on an unprecedented scale occurred not only in the Tibetan Administrative Region (TAR), but also in parts of China with substantial Tibetan populations. Prior to what has come to be known as the March Incident of 2008, Tibetan protests had largely been limited to areas within TAR proper. How can we explain the spontaneous -- and violent -- uprising that shocked the world months before the Beijing Olympics and invited an ironfisted crackdown by the Chinese authorities? The answer is the culminating The Struggle for Tibet, a collection of articles written by Tibetan academic Tsering Shakya and the Chinese intellectual Wang Lixiong. In what often reads like a dialogue between the two authors, the book explores the question of Tibetan identity, religion, assimilation and resistance from the perspective of Tibetans.

Peddling Peril: How The Secret Nuclear Trade Arms America's Enemies

Reviewed by Jeremy Bernstein -- New York Review of Books

A great deal has been written about Pakistani metallurgist A.Q. Khan and his collaborators, but I have never found an account as detailed as the one in "Peddling Peril: How the Secret Nuclear Trade Arms America's Enemies," by the nuclear armaments expert David Albright. Albright holds master's degrees in physics and mathematics and has taught physics. For five years-between 1992 and 1997-he was part of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Action Team and in that capacity he spent time as a weapons inspector in Iraq. In 1993, he founded the Institute for Science and International Security, a nonprofit research organization based in Washington, D.C., of which he is president. In short, Albright is a perfect person to write a book like this.

Book Review: 'Hellhound On His Trail' By Hampton Sides

Art Winslow -- Los Angeles Times

A bestselling author reconstructs an assassin's life and the events leading up to the killing of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. James Earl Ray, the dodgy career criminal and escaped convict who murdered King and helped turn 1968 into the sad, tumultuous year that it was, is the man with the gun in Hampton Sides' Hellhound on His Trail: The Stalking of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the International Hunt for His Assassin. And yet there are hellhounds aplenty in Sides' book, notable among them George Wallace and J. Edgar Hoover.

New Biography Reveals Oprah's 'Hidden' Life

Jeremy Olshan -- New York Post

Oprah Winfrey -- who built a billion-dollar empire persuading everyone from celebs to average Joes to reveal the truth about themselves -- is a big phony when it comes to her own past, an explosive new book charges. Winfrey's relationship with longtime "love" Stedman Graham, her reputed dirt-poor upbringing in rural Mississippi, her rumored lesbian crushes on women such as Diane Sawyer -- all are stories she has manipulated for decades in the name of sensational ratings, according to writer Kitty Kelley's latest unauthorized biography "Oprah: A Biography." "Where Oprah got that nonsense about growing up in filth and roaches I have no idea," said a relative, Katherine Carr Esters. "I've confronted her and asked, 'Why do you tell such lies?' Oprah told me, 'That's what people want to hear. The truth is boring.'

Richard A. Clarke -- Network World

"The entire phenomenon is shrouded in such government secrecy that it makes the Cold War look like a time of openness and transparency. The biggest secret in the world about cyber war may be that at the very same time the U.S. prepares for offensive cyber war, it is continuing policies that make it impossible to defend the nation effectively from cyber attack." click for an excerpt from Cyber War: The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It, a new book by ex-Presidential adviser Richard Clarke that explores the growing cyberwar threat and raises ideas about how to deal with it.

Can Science Explain Heaven?

Lisa Miller -- Newsweek

There are those who believe that science will eventually explain everything -- including our enduring belief in heaven. The thesis here is very simple: heaven is not a real place, or even a process or a supernatural event. It's something that happens in your brain as you die. The author of this article first encountered this idea when she was researching her new book, Heaven: Our Enduring Fascination with the Afterlife.

Obama Under Fire For Election Tactics With Sestak, Romanoff

Mimi Hall -- USA Today

A political brouhaha over the political tactics erupted last Friday when the White House acknowledged after weeks of questions that chief of staff Rahm Emanuel last year asked former president Bill Clinton to try to persuade Rep. Joe Sestak not to run in a Democratic primary against Sen. Arlen Specter. Clinton suggested that Sestak could take an unpaid position on a federal advisory board, which would help boost his stature in the House, instead of running for the Senate. On Thursday, the White House acknowledged trying to influence a race in Colorado as well. This time, deputy chief of staff Jim Messina suggested to former Colorado House speaker Andrew Romanoff that he seek one of three possible government jobs instead of running for the Senate in a Democratic primary against incumbent Michael Bennet. ...

Bauer's Memo Elevates Job Offers To Full-Blown Scandal

Mark Impomeni -- Daily Caller

White House Counsel Robert Bauer's memo detailing the White House's version of events in the case of Pennsylvania Democratic Senate nominee Joe Sestak raises far more questions than it answers. Released last Friday, at the beginning of both a three-day holiday weekend and a weeklong Congressional recess, the memo was intended to be the Obama administration's last word on the matter. But the memo's self-serving explanation and lack of detail have turned a minor annoyance for the administration into a full fledged Washington scandal, virtually guaranteeing that there will be much more written and said about Sestak, the administration's interference in the Pennsylvania Senate primary, and what looks to be a politically motivated cover up. ...

YEST Obama's Agenda Gets Bogged Down In Oil

Peter Nicholas -- Los Angeles Times

Heading into midterm elections that threaten his party's control of Congress, Barack Obama is struggling with an unending environmental catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico that makes it almost impossible to stick with his agenda. This was supposed to be the season when Obama could make jobs and the economy his central focus: working to convince a skeptical public that he and his allies in Congress are addressing what polls show to be voters' No. 1 concern. But the gulf oil spill has intruded on the administration's plans. ...

YEST Obama Administration "Dangled" Job Offers To Andrew Romanoff

Philip Elliott -- Associated Press

The Obama administration dangled the possibility of a government job for former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff last year in hopes he would forgo a challenge to Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, officials said Wednesday, just days after the White House admitted orchestrating a job offer in the Pennsylvania Senate race. The new revelation of a possible political trade again called into question Barack Obama's repeated promises to run an open government that was above back room deals. The Colorado episode follows a similar controversy in Pennsylvania. Joe Sestak about backing out of the primary in favor of an unpaid position on a federal advisory board. ...

There will be no blast-off Thursday when six men set out on a record-breaking space mission. Why? Because they'll never leave the parking lot. The ripped and ready crew of Mars500 will spend 520 days inside a sealed-up capsule in Moscow, outside the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Biomedical Problems. That's where they'll complete the first simulated human mission to Mars, a test drive that will be influential in planning future trips to the red planet. "There's never been a simulation that has lasted so long, that took place in something very similar to the actual future space capsule in which people will be going to Mars, we hope," says Peter Suedfeld, professor emeritus of psychology of the University of British Columbia, who has worked with NASA and the Canadian Space Agency. The historic experiment will test how the men operate in isolation, with limited company, a significant amount of stress and confinement. ...

AT&T Metered Data Plan Criticism Grows

W. David Gardner -- InformationWeek

As the dust continues to settle on AT&T's new data plans, consumers and others are beginning to question whether the plans will be as beneficial as the carrier claims. While few question that AT&T will have to act to put a lid on the galloping rise of data that is increasingly clogging its network, some public interest groups have criticized AT&T's tiered pricing approach, arguing that it is anticompetitive. ...

McDonald's Recall: Shrek Glasses Called Back On Cadmium Fears

Dan Fletcher -- Time Magazine

The recall notice, posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, told people to stop using the glasses immediately and wait for refund instructions from McDonald's. The health danger is that cadmium, a metallic element, could seep from the paint glasses and cause low-level exposure over time, particularly in children. ...

YEST Lifestyle Doesn't Influence Genetic Risks In Breast Cancer

HealthDay News

Despite prior research identifying both genetic risks for breast cancer as well as risks associated with lifestyle and environmental factors, a new British study reveals that the two types of risk pools appear to operate independently of one another. The finding is based on analysis that looked for any evidence of an interaction between a dozen genetic mutations -- all associated with a small increase in breast cancer risk -- and 10 established environmental risk factors, which are factors linked to behavior or lifestyle. ...

YEST New Test Can Predict Return Of Prostate Cancer

Julie Steenhuysen -- Reuters

A highly sensitive blood test may be able to predict whether prostate cancer is cured or is likely to come back, giving doctors an early sign of whether treatments are working, U.S. researchers said Wednesday. They said the nanotechnology-based blood test is far more sensitive than currently available commercial tests for prostate-specific antigen, or PSA, a protein produced by cells in the prostate gland. "Our assay can detect PSA in blood samples 300 times better than the current standard PSA tests," Dr. Shad Thaxton of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago said in a telephone interview. ...

Are Moviegoers Tiring Of Sequels?

Carl DiOrio -- Hollywood Reporter

Hollywood still hopes to shake off early symptoms, but there is spreading concern that the summer box office will be plagued by a nasty case of sequelitis. Conditions are ripe: Studios have planted 11 sequels or franchise reboots in the fertile May-August span, up from nine last summer and seven from the 2008 season. Those that have opened so far have underwhelmed, with seasonal box office off by a double-digit margin and studio executives beginning to feel woozy. ...

Ken Lee -- People Magazine

Gary Coleman's panicked wife initially balked at helping him after he suffered an apparent head injury that left him bloodied, according her 911 call. "He just got home, I heard this big bang, I went downstairs. Blood everywhere," she says. "I don't know if he's okay. I'm not down there right now because I have seizures, if I get stressed out I'm going to seize." Price says, "He fell. His head is bloody. There's blood all over the floor. YEST Why Is Charlie Sheen's Career Scandal-Proof?

Jennifer Armstrong -- Entertainment Weekly

Why does the 44-year-old actor's life-long career seem to be built of Teflon? Why such sustained public outrage over the antics of, say, championship-grade philanderer Tiger Woods, while Sheen becomes TV's highest-paid actor on TV's No. 1 sitcom despite repeated violent outbursts, not to mention myriad other scandals? The worst fallout Sheen has experienced so far has been getting dropped from Hanes ads costarring Michael Jordan - a loss that's a lot easier to take when you've just signed a new contract to remain on your hit CBS sitcom for somewhere around a million bucks an episode. His jail time will even reportedly fall at a convenient time - before Two and a Half Men goes back into production in August. If things go as planned, this will mark the first actual jail time of his illustrious career in bad-boy-dom. And he'll likely, once again, emerge virtually unscathed. ...

Certifi-Gate! America In Captivity

Poll Shows Majority Wants Obama Records

Bob Unruh -- World Net Daily

"Our latest polling shows a majority of Americans -- 55 percent -- want Obama to release all records relating to his childhood and his education, including college records, Harvard Law School papers, passport records, travel records, and other similar documentation," pollster Fritz Wenzel of Wenzel Strategies said. "Asked what should be done should it be found that Obama does not meet the qualifications to be president, 59 percent said he should be removed from office, and 35 percent said all bills signed into law by Obama should be repealed," he said. The poll said when asked about whether Obama's background documentation - the school records, birth records and others - should be released, the 55 percent who said yes included more than 82 percent of the GOP, 55 percent of independents and nearly 28 percent of Democrats. Further, another 17.1 percent of Americans said Obama should release some of his documentation, making it nearly three in four Americans who want the president to unlock the steel door on some or all of his background information. ...

Obama's Student Loan Records

KCRG-TV

Video Nine former employees of Vangent Inc. were charged with accessing Barack Obama's student loan records illegally. They have pleaded not guilty in federal court. Barack Obama's very first act as "President" made it illegal to release any of his records. "Executive Order 13489-Presidential Records," signed by Barack Obama on January 21, 2009, begins as follows: "By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America ..." If there is nothing to hide, why hide it? Yet, the very first thing he did as alleged-President was sign an Executive Order that locks all of his records, including his personal ones, away from public view. Jerome R. Corsi -- World Net Daily

Two private investigators working independently are asking why Barack Obama is using a Social Security number set aside for applicants in Connecticut while there is no record he ever had a mailing address in the state. In addition, the records indicate the number was issued between 1977 and 1979, yet Obama's earliest employment reportedly was in 1975 at a Baskin-Robbins ice-cream shop in Oahu, Hawaii. "It is a crime to use more than one Social Security number, and Barack Obama had to have a previous Social Security number to have worked at Baskin-Robbins," Ohio licensed private investigator Susan Daniels insisted. "Under current law, a person is not permitted to use more than one Social Security number in a lifetime." ...

Resident, But Not President

JB Williams -- Canada Free Press (CA)

Our Founding Fathers could not have been any more specific about the requirements for the office of president, "NO PERSON except a NATURAL-BORN Citizen." It isn't their fault that too many Americans don't care about or can't comprehend this term or the purpose behind it today. Obama is NOT a "natural-born citizen" of the United States of America, no matter which propaganda argument you choose to buy. He can, therefore, not legally hold the office of President or Vice President of the United States and all laws and orders given while he fraudulently holds that office are null and void. Legal US citizens or sovereign states are NOT obligated to follow illegal laws from a fraudulent resident of the people's White House. Obama has "no constitutional standing" as an "undocumented resident" of the Oval Office. ...

Two Requests For Obama's Selective Service Registration Through The Freedom Of Information Act Yield Differing Numbers

Sharon Rondeau -- Post & Email

When two people requested Obama's Selective Service registration through the Freedom of Information Act, each received a computer printout with different information. Each Selective Service record is assigned a DLN, or Document Locator Number. While both Coffman's and Allen's registration forms contained the ten-digit Document Locator Number (DLN) 0897080632 in the upper right-hand corner, the computer printouts differed. Coffman's computer printout was entitled "RIMS History Inquiry Screen" and showed a DLN of 8089 708 0632. Allen's computer printout was titled "Registrant File Inquiry Report" and showed a DLN of 0897 080 6320. Two DLNs could indicate two sets of records. March Report Podcast

News and Opinion Presented by Robert Jay March

21:39. Recorded
Monday, January 11, 2010
TOPICS DISCUSSED:

Glenn Beck:
The Verdict Is In

On the January 4, 2010 edition of Glenn Beck's Radio Program, Beck mocked the so-called "birthers": those of us who believe, and have submitted extensive evidence to prove, that Barack Obama is not legally qualified to serve as President of The United States, per Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution: "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President." March discusses Beck's remarks, why he made them, and what Beck's afraid of. During his last podcast, Robert Jay March asked, "Is Glenn Beck a Hero or a Coward?" The verdict is now in.

Britt Hume's Remarks on Tiger Woods and Buddhism.

On the January 3, 2010 edition of Fox News Sunday, Hume said this: "the extent to which [Tiger] can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He's said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith." Robert Jay March, a practicing Buddhist for 38 years, and a devout Catholic before that, corrects Hume's misunderstanding of the Buddhist faith, explaining how that "kind of forgiveness and redemption" is implicit in the Buddhism, and the personal tragedy in Hume's life that account for his statement.

Liar's Poker and Obama's 'Tell'

by Robert Jay March

What did Obama know and when did he know it? We can expect to hear that question repeated over and over again, and this time without the news blackout imposed by all the networks, including Fox News, on the questions about Obama's birth certificate

Barack Obama had promised transparency in governance, but has proved himself to be just another practitioner of deep-dish Chicago politics: cheesy, with a thick crust. His credibility had apparently hit bottom with his handling of the BP oil spill, coupled with the revelation that Obama was the largest recipient of campaign contributions from BP, but this latest revelation has pushed it into the sub-basement. When we first inaugurated the Obamalot section of MarchReport.com on January 27, 2009, with a logo containing the phrase "Transparency Since 2009 (Except When We're Opaque)," we got the expected protests that proclaimed the new messiah would be open about everything. Of course, we knew better, having already seen his duplicity regarding his legal qualifications to serve as President. It was not exactly a stretch to visualize how he would conduct himself in office, and he has lived down to our expectations.

On February 18, 2010, Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) revealed on Comcast's Larry Kane Show that the White House had offered him a job to induce him to withdraw from the primary race against turncoat former Republican Senator Arlen Specter, who had switched parties in order to assure his re-election. It's interesting to note that the story, which is a public relations nightmare for Obama, was broken on a Comcast cable show, in that it is Comcast that is buying NBC (including MSNBC). Does this presage a change of direction for MSNBC, which to date has been little more than a public relations service for Obama?

It was rumored that Sestak, a retired naval Admiral, had been offered the position of Secretary of the Navy in violation of Title 18 USC §211, "Acceptance or solicitation to obtain appointive public office," Title 18 USC §595 "Interference by administrative employees of Federal, State, or Territorial Governments," and Title 18 USC § 600 "Promise of employment or other benefit for political activity." Only the President (or, in this case, the guy who plays one on T.V.) could have authorized such an offer, since it is he who makes such appointments. This is an impeachable offense, being a "high crime or misdemeanor," which at the time of the drafting of the Constitution, meant a crime or misdemeanor that the offender would ordinarily have been spared the consequences of, by virtue of his high position.

On April 21, 2010, Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the top ranking Republican Member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting the appointment of a Special Prosecutor to investigate the Sestak bribe attempt. To date, there has been no such appointment.

On the May 23 edition of Face The Nation, Sestak again confirmed the job offer, but would not give any details.

The range of human experiences is quite limited, and the same events keep repeating themselves over and over again, with a different cast of characters, much like a Hollywood re-make. The Sestak affair is eerily reminiscent of a Gus Van Sant re-make of the Watergate crisis. Much like Van Sant's color remake of Psycho, it's the same script replayed with lesser actors. Just as during the Nixon administration, and several times since, The White House has investigated itself, assuring us that nothing improper has happened; and, just as happened during the Nixon years, very few are buying it. Clearly, a special prosecutor or independent counsel needs to be appointed.

Modern-day reporters are inherently lazy, being closer to game-show hosts than the ink-stained wretches of yore, and like stories that present themselves already written; no wearing out shoe leather, or even using up cell-phone minutes nowadays. No press-pass sticking up out of their well-worn hat brim: that might muss their well-coifed hair. Regardless of how much they have covered up for Obama thus far, there is now blood in the water, and if it bleeds, it leads.

They started by quizzing his press secretary, Robert Gibbs, who hemmed and hawed, being very careful to say nothing that could get him indicted as a co-conspirator. Then they asked Obama, who did his best impression of Ralph Kramden saying, "Hamena, Hamena, Hamena." Watch the video in the immediately preceding link, and take note of Obama's body language. Stiff as a board, saucer eyed, unblinkingly staring at Alice Kramden ... I mean, Major Garrett.

At least Richard Nixon had the guts to look right into the camera and lie. Just as Obama did when he fumbled the Inauguration oath...

... his "Tell" betrays him. Somewhere inside him, there is the awareness that he is doing wrong. Somewhere inside him, there is the desire to get caught, and that force is struggling to find it's way to the surface, to burst forth as if from John Hurt's chest.

The song "The Gambler," popularized by Kenny Rogers, contains these lyrics: "Son, I've made my life out of readin' people's faces, / And knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes. / So if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces."

You got to know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold em. Hopefully, this time the press, which has horribly betrayed us thus far, will force him to show his hole card and surrender his chips. That said, you never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.

"Grim Eater" Steals Food From Funerals

Reuters

A New Zealand funeral home has stepped in to stop a fake mourner who was attending up to four funerals a week to stock up on food, even filling up tupperware containers to take home. Harbour City Funeral Home director Danny Langstraat told a local newspaper that the "grim eater" appeared at up to four funerals a week in March and April to enjoy the finger food but clearly did not know the deceased. ...

 Hollywood Crackdown Nabs Superheroe Wannabes

Alan Duke -- CNN

Hollywood's superhero community buzzed after Batman's arrest Wednesday, just days after Spiderman, Cat Woman and at least a dozen others were taken into custody by Los Angeles police. It's part of a police crackdown on unlicensed costumed characters who pose for photos with tourists near Grauman's Chinese Theatre while hoping for -- but not demanding -- small tips. "It's un-American," said Joe McQueen, an actor who has made his living for the past 10 years wearing an Incredible Hulk costume. "I feel like we're being bullied, dude." ...

Obama Vs. Israel

Abraham Foxman -- Jerusalem Post (IL)

The US has decided to support a resolution at the UN Nonproliferation conference which specifically calls on Israel to open up its nuclear facilities and join the NPT treaty. What does this decision say about the Obama administration's assumptions and directions regarding Israel? The administration is reportedly trying to reassure Israel that if any similar resolution comes to the Security Council, it will veto it. Still, another element in the historic relationship between the two countries has been eviscerated. What is becoming a pattern is that when the administration looks at America's broader interests, it too often chooses to see the Israeli position as undermining those interests. ...

America Is In Trouble, And Obama Can't Be Counted On To Save Her

Michael Goodwin -- FOX News

Barack Obama is the backward man. Teddy Roosevelt's advice to "speak softly and carry a big stick" was meant as a guide to successful foreign relations. Obama has completely muddled the message. He speaks softly to foreign adversaries and uses the big stick on American dissenters. Iran and Syria are wooed endlessly with carrots, apologies and promises of grand bargains. They respond with taunts and threats and pay no penalty. North Korea sinks a South Korean ship, and our secretary of state says it means no more business as usual. That's an admission it has been business as usual even after the loony kingdom tested nukes. The Mexican president comes to Washington and berates American citizens for expressing their views through the democratic process, and Obama shamefully nods in agreement. A State Department aide apologizes to China -- to China! -- about our treatment of illegal immigrants. ...

Where Professors Rule, Life Is Cruel

Stuart Schwartz -- American Thinker

Welcome to government by professor. Assorted faculty of Ivy League schools have come together to form an administration with the least real-world and most academic experience of any in modern times, the American Enterprise Institute notes. And so we have a government of scolds, lecturers, and bullies, arrogant academics cheered on by mainstream media when they take a "paddle" to average citizens and taxpayers. Witness the latest addition to the administration's professorial ranks: Dr. Donald Berwick, the Harvard Medical School professor picked to head the Medicare program. Of course, his knowledge of senior health care is academic, having never actually treated seniors. In Cambridge and Hyde Park (University of Chicago) and Berkeley, they think transforming thoughts about "health outcomes"; in the rest of America, it is called "death panels." ...

Barack Obama's Verbal Trickery

Kelly O'Connell -- Canada Free Press (CA)

Political movements, in particular, traffic in purposeful verbal trickery. In fact, some especially depend upon fallacies to drive their message since their essential convictions are defective or even diseased. Such groups as the Nazis, Fascists and Communists immediately spring to mind here. Barack Obama peppers his rhetoric with a veritable buffet of verbal trickery. But why? Speakers do not mislead unless they sense an inability to otherwise persuade their audience. This is a short list of some of the most persistent members of this false-argument tsunami. ...

Guests Of Vlad The Impaler

Alan Caruba -- Canada Free Press (CA)

It is hard to get rid of a really bad president. It may prove harder to get rid of an imposter, a provocateur, a revenge-filled destroyer of the economy and the nation. I saw this all before he won the office, wrote about it then and wrote about it since. If I did, others did. Indeed, some wrote entire books about it. So why has no court in America demanded that Barack Hussein Obama produce a birth certificate or any other proof of eligibility? ...

Obama Throws Democrat Congressman And His Brother To The Wolves

Wes Vernon -- Renew America

Barack Hussein Obama has just presented us with more evidence that his agenda and his ego are so important that he is more than willing to sacrifice his own political allies in order to make the history books on passing his signature Health "Care" bill. He doesn't care if his party goes under in the 2010 midterm elections. We already knew that. He and his minions are so power-mad and locked into their Marxist ideology and Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," that they are willing to go down to defeat at the polls - confident that the American people will fall in love with their plot to put themselves between you and your doctor. Thereafter -- according to their playbook -- once they have you addicted to the new entitlement, they can then beat Republicans over the head every election year with their pious claims that anyone who opposes their plot to increase handouts from the program wants to toss seniors, the sick, and the poor out into the snow. They actually think you're stupid. ...

An Inconvenient Lie

Prepare For A Bit Of Cooling, Predicts Geologist

Dennis Avery -- Canada Free Press (CA)

"Global warming is over-at least for a few decades," geologist Don Easterbrook, professor emeritus from Western Washington University told the Heartland Institute's Fourth International Conference on Climate Change on May 19. He warned, however, us not to rejoice. Colder winters kill twice as many people as hot weather while crop production suffers from shorter growing seasons and weather-disrupted harvests. Current data seem to support Easterbrook's prediction of an end to global warming, at least for the next three decades. Since 1998, atmospheric CO2 has continued to increase-but total solar activity, as measured by satellites, has declined sharply after trending strongly, but erratically, upward for 150 years. ...

The Motive Force Behind "Climate Change"

Joseph A Olson -- Climate Realists

The vast difference between the maximum heat and minimum ice age weather cycles on the surface of the earth cannot be accounted for by any solar or atmospheric variables. In fact, there is another force that renders even short-term climate forecasts inaccurate. That force is the enormous Geo-Nuclear, heat producing fission reactions of the heavy elements that form the earth's core. Mankind can neither predict nor control this force and is just as powerless to control the volcanoes, earthquakes and ice ages that are the results of variations in this geo-nuclear force. The 11,000 degree F temperature at the earth's core is not caused by gravity, by solar radiation or by atmospheric insulation. Legislative efforts to modify weather with miniscule changes of parts per million of carbon dioxide, a benign, life giving molecule, will soon be recognized as the most naïve misinterpretation of earth science since the world was flat. ...

James Lovelock, Who Developed The Gaia Theory, Says "Democracy Must Be Put On Hold" To Prevent Climate Change

Leo Hickman -- Guardian (UK)

Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change from radically impacting on our lives over the coming decades. This is the stark conclusion of James Lovelock, the globally respected environmental thinker and independent scientist who developed the Gaia theory. "I don't think we're yet evolved to the point where we're clever enough to handle a complex a situation as climate change," said Lovelock in his first in-depth interview since the theft of the UEA emails last November. "The inertia of humans is so huge that you can't really do anything meaningful." One of the main obstructions to meaningful action is "modern democracy", he added. "Even the best democracies agree that when a major war approaches, democracy must be put on hold for the time being. I have a feeling that climate change may be an issue as severe as a war. It may be necessary to put democracy on hold for a while." ...

Global-Warming Alarmism Dying A Slow Death

Alex Newman -- New American Magazine

The rapid loss of public credibility over all the errors has also accompanied numerous calls by prominent voices for official inquiries and even criminal investigations. Several universities involved have already launched reviews. And even previous IPCC chief Professor Robert Watson, for example, is calling for a probe to investigate "warming bias" by the UN panel. "The mistakes all appear to have gone in the direction of making it seem like climate change is more serious by overstating the impact. That is worrying," he told the U.K. Times Online. "The IPCC needs to look at this trend in the errors and ask why it happened." The UN will indeed launch an "independent" inquiry, but critics generally expect a coverup. U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.) went further, proposing criminal investigations to determine if alarmists violated any laws. A Senate report produced for Inhofe's Environment and Public Works Committee concluded that, among other problems, "scientists involved in the CRU controversy violated fundamental ethical principles governing taxpayer-funded research and, in some cases, may have violated federal laws." Similarly, British authorities were investigating possible criminal activity by Climategate scientists who refused to provide documents and data under lawful Freedom of Information requests. The scientists may reportedly escape prosecution under the FOI law because of a six-month statute of limitations. ...

At the request of some of our readers, discerning and literate bunch that you all are, commencing with the May 1, 2008 issue we began archiving the March Report in a form suitable for presentation. Be advised that some of the links to external sites on the archived pages will have gone dead. Morte. Kaputski. That being the case, archives will be deleted, or replaced with an image of the headline area only, as the page itself becomes useless (assuming that it wasn't to begin with, which may be presumptuous in and of itself).

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

A reader who wishes to remain anonymous sent in this criticism:

Mr. March, You linked the video of Hillary Clinton having what has been referred to as an 'outburst' on your site, yet, you did not explain the context. You omitted the truth and presented the situation as another crazy Clinton moment. You not only misportrayed the situation, you lost an opportunity to share/address the plight of women who have no rights in their country. I have been a long time reader of your March Report and have shared the Report with many people. I wrote to you addressing the Clinton video and have seen no retraction or explanation. I won't be referring anyone to this page anymore. My belief and trust that you maintain objectivity and research all sides has been permanently altered recently. Consevative or not, you have always seemed to work at being fair and true to journalism. I now am seeing you differently.

    Robert Jay March Responds:

This reader has mischaracterized the report. In fact, we went out of way to add clarity to the situation. The copy proved by WMAQ-TV, the televsion station which provide the report through one of our syndicators, said "A Congolese university student seems to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's." In order to portray the situation accurately, we rewrote the copy to read as follows (emphasis added): "As a result of a translator's error, a Congolese university student appears to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's. Hillary explodes, and hilarity ensues. Oh, those wacky, wacky Clintons." That was all the information that was available on August 11, 2009, when we ran the story. Witty retort aside, we went out of our way to clarify the report. Further details from the State Department and the White House did not become available until the following day.

Another reader, who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "Needles," has an unusual take on the Certifi-Gate crisis:

The birthers need to step back and consider the consequences of their actions. If Mr. Obama were to be declared ineligible, there are several possible outcomes. They could remove him from office and install Joe Biden as President. The argument would be made that if Mr. Obama was not eligible to run for President, then the ticket is invalid as well and Joe Biden should not be Vice President. The next person in the order of succession would be Speaker of the House; Nancy Pelosi. Because no eligible candidate received a majority of electoral votes, the selection of the President could be thrown into the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, would then be king-maker. The choices are Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi or someone Nancy Pelosi picks. Maybe it is best to leave the birth certificate matter alone.

    Robert Jay March Responds:

Mr. Obama being declared ineligible does not legally invalidate Biden's election, provided he is qualified. Even if it did, the Constitution is too important to ignore; it is all that separates us from tyranny. Regardless of the consequences, if in fact Mr. Obama is ineligible, he must be removed. That said, all we have thus far is the preponderance of evidence leading to a likely conclusion, not conclusive facts. That is why the revelation of the long-form birth certificate is so important.

Finally, a third reader who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "unihawker," writes:

Dear Mr. March, I was watching TV the other night and they showed a clip of Obama in Kenya during his trip there during the campaign. I am not sure if it was just some Freudian slip or not, but he said as he was waiving to the people greeting him, "Thank you, it is great to be back home". My question was, If he was not born in that country why would he call it home?

    Robert Jay March Responds:

Good question, for which I have no answer. If this report is correct, it is yet another contribution to the preponderance of evidence that implies Mr. Obama is ineligible. A copy of the long form birth certificate would cost Mr. Obama $12; thus far he has spent $1.3 Million to avoid producing it. As in any investigation, follow the money: in this case, what money is being spent on to conceal.
