"Get a Grip on Physics" by Doctor John Gribbin was photographed in a footwell of the car after the US golf superstar smashed it into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his Florida home last month. Within days of the pictures going round the world, the book's best-seller ranking on Internet retailer Amazon.com shot up from 396,224th position to 2,268th.

The US must fix its growing debt problems or risk a new financial crisis, Thomas Hoenig, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, warned on Tuesday, adding a mounting deficit could spur inflation. Mr Hoenig said that rising debt was infringing on the central bank's ability to fulfil its goals of maintaining price stability and long-term economic growth. "Stunning" deficit projections were putting political pressure on the Fed to keep interest rates low, infringing on its independence at the risk of inflation, he said. "Without pre-emptive action, the US risks its next crisis," Mr Hoenig said in a speech at the Pew-Peterson Commission on Budget Reform. ...

As the bank reported record profits of £11.6bn this morning, chairman Marcus Agius took the unusual step of trying to defend the bank's bonus policy. While the bank's remuneration committee had been prepared to hand bonuses to chief executive John Varley and president Bob Diamond, the pair declined the payments. Overall, the bank's 144,000 staff, including those working in high street branches, received total cash payments of £1.5bn and £1.2bn in long-term awards. The average bonus at Barclays was £19,000 while the average bonus received by the 23,000 bankers at Barclays Capital, the investment banking arm known as BarCap, was £95,000 - suggesting a bonus pot of more than £2bn. ...

Unless there is a dramatic change in policy, the entire European system will collapse. Given the huge deficits of almost all EU member-states, the German taxpayer is left as the big paymaster. So the excessive focus on Greece is itself a deception, because the Greek debts to the various European banks are a relatively small problem. The far more dramatic problem is the debt of Spain, whose banks spread their bad mortgage loans all over Europe, by securitizing them. With the imminent state bankruptcies of Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Dubai, Great Britain, and the U.S.A., to name only a few, this amounts to the same thing as the gigantic trillion-dollar bailout packages already given to the banks in the United States and Europe: that the governments should reward the banks and their continual gambling, with new public funds. If this policy were continued, it would end very soon in dramatic inflation. ...

Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland have already agreed to accept the global standards of exchange of information and withdrawn their reservations to the Article 26 of the OECD Model tax convention, which stands for smoother exchange of information between governments on tax and banking issues. They have started entering into tax information exchange agreements (TIEA) and revising the tax treaties. These countries are now willing to amend their domestic laws for diluting the banking secrecy provisions, which is seen as a major hurdle that block exchange of information. The non co-operative Tax Havens Andorra, Liechtenstein and Monaco have also endorsed the standards and have signed many TIEAs. Brazil, Chile and Thailand have also withdrawn their reservations to the Article 26 of the OECD Model. Hong Kong, Singapore and Liechtenstein, which drew international attention last year after a former bank employee blew the whistle on unreported accounts of one its banks, too have passed legislation for implementing the OECD standards. ...

Federal regulators report a marked increase in complaints of fatal accidents alleged to be linked to sudden acceleration of Toyota Motor Corp. vehicles as they boost their investigation. According to documents posted on its website, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also says it has received nearly 1,000 new complaints on the recalled Toyota Prius. Since Jan. 27, NHTSA has received complaints of 13 more deaths and 10 injuries in U.S. crashes, since 2005, that allege sudden acceleration as the cause in Toyota vehicles. That brings to 34 the total number of deaths since 2000 allegedly related to unintended acceleration in Toyotas. ...

Securing residency would simplify business transactions for those who travel often to the British Caribbean territory, and it could eliminate the need to obtain a Caymanian business partner, said Charles Glidden, the premier's press secretary. "They can come and go as they like," he said. "They would not have to be on a work permit." ...

Official documents catch Barack Obama in another apparent misrepresentation of his life story, this time challenging a claim made during his campaign that his father was part of a JFK-era airlift to bring Kenyan students to the U.S. to study in American universities. Research indicates Barack Obama Sr. was not brought to Hawaii in 1959 by any airlift of Kenyan students organized by baseball great Jackie Robinson, John F. Kennedy or the African-American Students Foundation, the AASF. Nor was Barack Obama Sr. on any of the three subsequently chartered airplanes in what became known as the "second airlift" organized by Kenyan Luo politician Tom Mboya in 1960 after the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation contributed $100,000 to AASF. Moreover, after a thorough search of the Jackie Robinson papers at the Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress, WND can find no mention of Barack Obama Sr. in the files on deposit, either as an applicant or candidate for an airlift from Kenya to study in the U.S. ...

 AND TEXT. Now evidence has come to light whereby Dr. James Manning has declared that Obama never attended Columbia University [New York]. Dr. Manning has hired a team of investigators to comb over every bit of available evidence to validate his declaration. ...

The murky circumstances of Obama's birth invite attempts to make the known facts fit together. A cryptic poem by the 19-year old Obama called "Pop," relates an encounter between Obama and a man most reviewers presume to be Obama's maternal grandfather, Stanley Dunham. Dunham would have been in his early 60's at the time. The Obama of the poem is cynical, even a little bitter. He makes several allusions to the fact that he and the old man look and even smell alike, a fact that strikes Obama as more ironic than reassuring. Don Wilkie, a Michigan entrepreneur, says "I think the poem zeros in on that poignant moment when Obama was told that his grandfather was in reality his father." Wilkie concedes his theory is "off-the-wall," but he also offers photographic evidence to show that Obama much more closely resembles Dunham -- especially the telltale ears --than he does Barack Obama, Sr. ...

On a forum page at The Hill newspaper, one commenter wrote that the president has only himself to blame for the questions. "Personally I am no birther ... but I am curious as to why Obama continues to beat on this issue ... is it a political ploy by his handlers to continue to use this as a divisive issue? To try and embarrass a certain segment of the population? And if not, why doesn't he just provide the certificate and end all the speculation for the conspirators once and for all? Obama has certainly been a little less than forthcoming on his grades, his Harvard review publications and many other accomplishments" ...

Democrat operatives, using the same address for an attorney who represented the Democratic National Committee in an eligibility lawsuit against Barack Obama, have launched an ad campaign and website called TheTeaPartyIsOver.org to "prevent the tea party's dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction." In the wake of Scott Brown's dramatic victory for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts, the energized national tea-party movement is targeting lawmakers deemed unresponsive to Americans. The anti-tea party website comes as Illinois will have its first-in-the-nation primaries Tuesday. The American Public Policy Committee shares an identical suite address with the Alliance for North Carolina; the Patriot Majority; and Sandler, Reiff & Young PC - the law firm of Joseph Sandler, general counsel to the Democratic National Committee who filed a motion to dismiss Philip Berg's eligibility lawsuit against Obama and the DNC. Sandler is also former counsel to both MoveOn.org and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim group named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist-finance case in U.S. history. ...

Notwithstanding the eligibility issue's complexity, when Obama's so-called 'birth certificate' appeared online, media supporters quickly realized it would likely appear farfetched to the casual reader that the document could mean anything other than absolute proof that Obama was born in Hawaii. As such, Obama's support in the media seized upon the possibility that they could easily ignore the actual parameters of the issue and shape the news to redefine the 'eligibility' issue to mean: if Obama has a Hawaiian Birth Certificate, of course he is a 'citizen', and of course, this equals Obama is eligible to be President. Voila, the media found their vehicle to infer that anyone questioning Obama's eligibility to serve as President of the United States was a complete and utter fool. Because, most people pay little attention to and/or fail to verify the details of news stories (most barely read past the headlines), the media has been able to pull off their slight of hand. And as the media is well aware, once people commit to a version of the facts they are reluctant to revisit an issue. Especially, given that many of the normal players (Hillary, Republicans, and the courts) for their own reasons have been reluctant to touch this story, it makes the casual observer's commitment to his or her position even stronger. Thus, the term 'birther' has become an effective tool for the media and politicians to use to ridicule their opponents. ...

A prominent attorney who has shepherded a number of high-profile legal cases challenging Barack Obama'seligibility to be president has brought a "Quo Warranto" case to district court in Washington, D.C., alleging his allegiances have included Britain, Kenya and Indonesia. A Quo Warranto action essentially is a demand to know by what authority a public figure is acting. The case, brought by California attorney Orly Taitz on behalf of herself, was assigned to Chief Judge Royce Lamberth. John Eidsmoe, an expert on the U.S. Constitution now working with the Foundation on Moral Law, an organization founded by former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, previously said the demand was a legitimate course of action. Eidsmoe said it's clear that Obama has something in the documentation of his history, including his birth certificate, college records and other documents that "he does not want the public to know." ...

Attorney Mario Apuzzo filed the action with the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in January 2009 on behalf of Kerchner, Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr. Named as defendants were Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives, former Vice President Dick Cheney and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The case alleges Congress failed to follow the Constitution, which "provides that Congress must fully qualify the candidate 'elected' by the Electoral College Electors." The appeal said, "Plaintiffs allege that Obama has not conclusively proven that he was born in Hawaii. They also allege that even if he was so born, he cannot be an Article II 'natural born citizen' because his father was a British subject/citizen when Obama was born and Obama himself was born a British subject/citizen, all of which makes him ineligible to be president and commander in chief of the military." ...

Barack Obama wants to run for reelection he would need to produce proof of both his U.S. birth and citizenship to get on the ballot in Arizona, if one state lawmaker gets her way. Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley, is preparing a law to require anyone running for president or vice president to provide proof to the Arizona Secretary of State's Office that they are legally eligible to seek the office. The U.S. Constitution requires the president -- and, by extension, the vice president -- to be "a natural born citizen." Burges would require the Secretary of State to verify that status independently. "If it's not certifiable, then that person's name would not go on the ballot," she said. ...

In blogs, interviews and e-mails, "birthers" around the country are reporting surveillance and visits from the U.S. Secret Service, whose agents have questioned - or, as some report, intimidated - them over their insistence that Barack Obama prove his constitutional eligibility to serve as president. Stephen Pidgeon, an attorney for Washington state plaintiffs challenging Obama's eligibility, grew suspicious in March when his wife and coworkers reported being shadowed by police and three, black SUVs. "We are definitely under surveillance and it's coordinated with Homeland Security," Pidgeon alleged. The author of this story contacted the Secret Service and spoke with the agent Laudenslager reports visited him in Pennsylvania, but the agent explained he was not permitted to comment. ...

Yet again, Glenn Beck shows himself to be completely ignorant of the issue, while presuming to ridicule those who have taken the time to research it. The "certification of live birth" posted online and widely touted as "Obama's birth certificate" does not in any way prove he was born in Hawaii, since the same "short-form" document is easily obtainable for children not born in Hawaii. The true "long-form" birth certificate, which includes information such as the name of the birth hospital and attending physician, is the only document that can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, but to date he has not permitted its release for public or press scrutiny. ...

Attorneys Leo Donofrio and Steve Pidgeon have been retained by a group of Chrysler dealers who lost their franchises in the Chrysler bankruptcy sale. Quo Warranto is one of 2 ways to remove a sitting President, and is being filed on behalf of the Auto Dealers who had their dealerships taken from them in the summer of 2009, and bankruptcy motion actions are being filed in the Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York. It is expected that as many as 50 to 100 Auto Dealers may join lead Plaintiff James Anderer in the suits. ...

Two lawyers, Leo Donofrio and Stephen Pidgeon, have joined forces to assemble a case challenging in U.S. bankruptcy court the federal government's use of Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to bail out Chrysler and in doing so may have created a scenario that finally will bring to a head the issue of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president. Their new case questions the authority by which the federal government and administration officials intervened in the auto industry, specifically allocating some $8 billion-plus to Chrysler, which later was forgiven. The clients in the case are former Chrysler dealers who lost their businesses as part of the "restructuring" of the automobile company. They have been damaged with the loss of their businesses, and the case alleges the Obama administration, through its use of TARP money, influenced Chrysler's outcome. Along with a bankruptcy court challenge, a "quo warranto" case is being filed in Washington, D.C., demanding to know by what authority administration officials set up the financial arrangements with Chrysler and handed out taxpayer money. As part of the demand for information about the authority used, Donofrio confirmed, there will be questions about Obama's eligibility to be president. ...
