At the request of some of our readers, discerning and literate bunch that you all are, commencing with the May 1, 2008 issue we began archiving the March Report in a form suitable for presentation. Be advised that some of the links to external sites on the archived pages will have gone dead. Morte. Kaputski. That being the case, archives will be deleted, or replaced with an image of the headline area only, as the page itself becomes useless (assuming that it wasn't to begin with, which may be presumptuous in and of itself).

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks

Dave Rosenthal -- Baltimore Sun

Among the promising books out this month is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, which examines the extraordinary -- and controversial -- scientific contribution made by a young black woman from Baltimore County's Turners Station community more than a half-century ago. While Lacks was being treated for cancer at Johns Hopkins, a researcher was able to keep some of her cells alive outside her body -- a remarkable breakthrough for medical research. Author Rebecca Skloot notes in this excerpt that the "HeLa cells," spread around the world, helped to develop the polio vaccine and forge advances in such areas as chemotherapy, cloning, gene mapping and in vitro fertilization.

John Edwards Tell-All Book Details Leak: 'Fat Rednecks' And A Sex Tape

Keith Staskiewicz -- Entertainment Weekly

Only weeks after the bestselling campaign book Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime laid out for all to see the indiscretions and subsequent political implosion of John Edwards, the former aide/human shield who originally claimed paternity for Edwards' illegitimate child has announced his own tell-all account of the affair, The Politician: An Insider's Account of John Edwards's Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down. The book deals with Young's facilitation of the liaison as well as his role in its aftermath and the ensuing cover-up, which Young contends was orchestrated by Edwards himself. ...

Washington Is In A Frenzy Over 'Game Change'

Greg Milam -- Sky News (UK)

Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime, for example, revealed the racially insensitive comments of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid about then-candidate Barack Obama. Obama accepted Reid's apology at the weekend but the calls for the veteran Nevada Senator to resign continue to grow as the partisan squabbling reaches a new peak. But it is the 'revelations' about the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, John McCain and Sarah Palin that are, in political circles at least, the stuff of fevered talk. Like the reported fact that Mrs Palin wanted to call Mr Biden 'Joe' during televised debates because she couldn't stop saying 'O'Biden' in rehearsals. And some of the private details about personal relationships that, frankly, we could all live without knowing.

British Writer Gets Sales Boost From Tiger Woods Crash

Agence France-Presse (FR)

Sales of a little-known British scientist's book have soared after it was pictured in Tiger Woods' crashed car, he said Thursday. "Get a Grip on Physics" by Doctor John Gribbin was photographed in a footwell of the car after the US golf superstar smashed it into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his Florida home last month. Within days of the pictures going round the world, the book's best-seller ranking on Internet retailer Amazon.com shot up from 396,224th position to 2,268th.

YEST Darpa To Develop Immortal Organisms

Daniel Purt -- Bio Prep Watch

Darpa, in a move that means to use bioweapons for good, has announced the investment of $6 million into a project that will create "synthetic organisms" that never die but can be killed with the flick of a molecular switch. The project, labelled BioDesign, calls for the creation of living, breathing creatures that are genetically engineered to produce specific biological effects. The organisms, Darpa says, would be fortified with molecules to resit death. The project aims to end what Darpa refers to as the "randomness of natural evolutionary advancement" by utilizing the newest biotech knowledge to create the synthetic organisms. ...

U.S. 'Star Wars' Laser Plane Successfully Shoots Down Ballistic Missile For First Time

Daily Mail (UK)

The U.S. Missile Defence Agency announced the feat after the test on Thursday in central California. It is the first successful test of a futuristic, directed energy weapon and realises what had previously just been a science fiction fantasy. ...

YEST Google Buzz Privacy Issues Have Real Life Implications

Robin Wauters -- TechCrunch.com

Merging something designed for public broadcasting (Buzz) with something inherently private (Gmail) was just looking for trouble. Google is deservedly getting a lot of heat for the fact that its latest social product has a number of privacy flaws baked into it by design. They've since made some improvements to the product, but that's not where the story ends. Some people think the complaints are unwarranted and the issues not all that bad, while some think it's mostly annoying and others don't even know there are issues yet (or that Google launched something new at all). And then there those whose lives are already being impacted by the privacy loopholes in Google Buzz -- and not all in a good way. ...

YEST Google To Build High-Speed Internet Network

Ian Sherr and John Poirier -- Reuters

Google Inc plans to build a super-fast Internet network for up to half a million people, a project that could pressure telecommunications companies to loosen their control of Web access in the United States. The Internet company has locked horns with the likes of AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications Inc over the issue of net neutrality: Google wants telephone companies to permit consumers to run any Web application they want, while carriers do not want to lose control of networks they have invested billions of dollars to build. In building the test network, Google wants to demonstrate a carrier could easily manage complex applications that use a lot of bandwidth without sacrificing performance. ...

Obama's Deception: Health Care, C-SPAN, And Other Broken Promises

Dr. Paul Murdock -- Canada Free Press (CA)

How many of you would let your children, business partners, employees, or friends be consistently dishonest? Would you pay for a product that you had not seen or researched? Would you purchase a product if you knew the company was incompetent and could not deliver quality? I think not. Yet here in America we do exactly that. Obama has no intention of keeping his moderate election promises. He may provide excuses, but he still would be deceiving you. ...

Obama's Weak Response To Airliner Attack Increases Threat To U.S.

Jim Meyers -- NewsMax

Influential journalist Arnaud de Borchgrave says that the Obama administration is "trying to make the best of a very bad situation" by downplaying the security lapses that led to a Nigerian sneaking an explosive device aboard a plane. De Borchgrave also warned about the threat posed by Pakistanis who are British citizens and can enter the U.S. without a visa; and he pointed to a "growing convergence" between the ambitions of Iran and al-Qaida in the Middle East. Asked about the Obama administration's response to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian Muslim who spent time in Yemen and allegedly attempted to detonate an explosive device aboard a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day, de Borchgrave said, "I think it's been very weak." ...

News and Opinion Presented by Robert Jay March

21:39. Recorded
Monday, January 11, 2010
TOPICS DISCUSSED:

Glenn Beck:
The Verdict Is In

On the January 4, 2010 edition of Glenn Beck's Radio Program, Beck mocked the so-called "birthers": those of us who believe, and have submitted extensive evidence to prove, that Barack Obama is not legally qualified to serve as President of The United States, per Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution: "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President." March discusses Beck's remarks, why he made them, and what Beck's afraid of. During his last podcast, Robert Jay March asked, "Is Glenn Beck a Hero or a Coward?" The verdict is now in.

Britt Hume's Remarks on Tiger Woods and Buddhism.

On the January 3, 2010 edition of Fox News Sunday, Hume said this: "the extent to which [Tiger] can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He's said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith." Robert Jay March, a practicing Buddhist for 38 years, and a devout Catholic before that, corrects Hume's misunderstanding of the Buddhist faith, explaining how that "kind of forgiveness and redemption" is implicit in the Buddhism, and the personal tragedy in Hume's life that account for his statement.

Opposition To Proposed Options For Bayonne Bridge

Hudson Reporter

Assemblyman Anthony Chiappone (D-Bayonne) asked the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee to consider not just the potential impact on Bayonne residents and businesses when coming up with potential solutions for the bridge, but to look for alternative solutions as well. "Any expansion or replacing of the Bayonne Bridge will result in a severe hardship to Bayonne," Chiappone said. "While I understand the regional concerns in regards to Port Elizabeth and Port Newark, the local concerns regarding Bayonne need to be considered and respected as well." Chiappone questioned how many homes would have to be taken as a result of the project, and said the alternate route over the Turnpike Extension is already overtaxed with traffic. ...

Patrick O'callahan -- Tacoma News Tribune

My guess is that you could pick three random passersby off the sidewalk -- middle-aged men with gimpy knees, teenagers, grandmothers, whatever, and they'd have shown more guts than those three "security guards" did as they watched a girl beaten and stomped in Seattle's transit tunnel. This is more shocking than seeing onlookers stand by as someone gets assaulted. These were guards. What in heaven's name were they guarding? The trash cans? ...

There was no damage reported, yet, the 3.8 earthquake was felt over a wide area, which is common for quakes in the Midwest. "Because we are in a stable earthquake area we don't get too many earthquakes but when we get waves felt at greater distances," Dr. Emile Okal said. Malcolm Folley -- Daily Mail (UK)

Olympic officials were forced into an embarrassing climbdown over the controversial track which claimed the life of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili. Games authorities ordered changes to the course for yesterday's delayed practice runs despite their earlier claim that a mistake by the Georgian had been the sole cause of his accident. Extra banking and protective sheeting were added to the bend where the 21-year-old Georgian left the track and struck a metal pillar at 90mph on Friday. The men's start was moved 30 meters down the course to the women's start, which was itself relocated further down. Other modifications were made in a bid to lower speeds. ...

Eight people were killed and 32 injured in a bomb blast Saturday at a restaurant popular with tourists in the western Indian city of Pune, police and government officials said. The blast took place at about 7:30 pm (1400 GMT) at the German Bakery -- an established eatery in the Koregaon Park area of the city, not far from a Jewish cultural centre and an internationally renowned religious retreat. "It appears that an unattended package was noticed... by one of the waiters who apparently went and attempted to open the package when the blast took place," Indian Home Secretary G.K. Pillai said. ...

Growth Fears Weigh, But Dow Gains 86.91 On Week

Peter A. McKay -- Wall Street Journal

Friday's stock decline capped a week marked by volatile moves and a series of announcements affecting every major economy in the world. The big swings and headlines left the market with a modest gain for the week. Commodities also declined, reacting to China's moves to rein in lending. Crude-oil prices slid, while gold declined. "I think the reaction here is about right. What we're seeing is that the risks have shifted, but I don't think the level of risk for investors has changed," said Standard & Poor's economist David Wyss in New York. The European Union's weakest economy is drowning in debt, but Europe's largest economy is not rushing to throw a lifeline. "Who's to blame for the crisis?" asks today's edition of the tabloid Bild. "It's Greece!" Another paper, Die Welt, poses this question in an internet poll: "Is it right for the EU to help Greece out of the mess?" Around 90% of respondents have answered "No". Why are Germans so reluctant to assist? After all, Germany embraced the European project, the whole idea of a European Union. Whatever happened to solidarity? YEST Wall Street's Biggest Bonuses Go To Not-So-Big Names

Eric Dash -- New York Times

It turns out that some of the highest-paid financial executives in America work far from the canyons of Lower Manhattan, at companies that have largely avoided the outcry over the return of hefty paydays on Wall Street. Topping the list is John G. Stumpf, head of Wells Fargo, the bank based in San Francisco, according to an analysis of 2009 compensation in the industry. Mr. Stumpf was paid a personal best of $18.7 million in cash and stock for 2009 -- up 64 percent from 2007, just before the financial crisis struck. Mr. Stumpf is making twice as much as Lloyd C. Blankfein, his counterpart at Goldman Sachs. YEST Citi's Financial Crisis Derivatives

John Carney -- Business Insider

The new financial derivative designed by credit specialists at Citi should be banned. It's too dangerous to exist, adding unfathomable levels of systemic risk, and depends entirely on arbitraging implicit government backing. The very first problem with this product is that it is meant to involve no upfront costs. Buyers and sellers of liquidity would go long and short the CLX by drawing up contracts that promise payments when certain index levels are triggered. That will make entering the contracts cheap, in terms of up front costs. But without an upfront premium or a reserve requirement, the CLX trades will be 100% exposed to counter party risk. This means that to the extent that a firm buying CLX liquidity protection is just trading liquidity risk for counter party risk. ...

Alec Baldwin fought with his 14-year-old daughter, taunting, "I'm going to take some pills. I'm going to end this" -- and then got furious when the panicked teen called 911, police and sources said. The "30 Rock" star later blamed the teen's mom -- his ex, Kim Basinger -- for yesterday's bizarre chain of events. Sources said Baldwin, 51, first got into a fight with daughter Ireland over the phone at around midnight -- and made the girl nervous when he allegedly told her: "I'm tired of this. I'm going to take some pills. I'm going to end this." Then he hung up. It turns out he hadn't taken an overdose -- just an Ambien pill to get some sleep, sources said. YEST Tapes Reveal John Edwards Discussing Scheme And Mistress Complaining, Ex-Aide Says

FOX News

John Edwards' former mistress would "get extremely upset and threaten to go public" whenever he discussed his love for his wife Elizabeth in the media, a former aide said, as he released a voice mail tape in which a woman he said was Rielle Hunter can be heard complaining to Edwards about such an interview. In a separate tape, a man said to be Edwards can be heard giving secret signs to Young about his wife listening in on phone calls. Young said the call was placed as Edwards prepared to roll out the bogus story that Young was the father of Hunter's baby. "Every time Rielle would see the senator discuss his love for Elizabeth on TV and about her cancer, Rielle would get extremely upset and threaten to go public," Young said. The second tape was recorded the day after Edwards asked Young to "take the fall" -- a reference to Edwards persuading him to claim that he, and not Edwards, was the father of Hunter's baby. Young said the call shows Edwards explaining to him how to tell if Elizabeth was eavesdropping on a second line. ...

An Inconvenient Lie

Catastrophe Denied: The Science Of The Skeptics Position

Warren Meyer

Video This video is a critique of catastrophic man-made global warming theory, based on presentation slides used in a series of public presentations and debates in late 2009 and early 2010. While the world has almost certainly warmed since the end of the Little Ice Age in the early 19th century, and while it is fairly clear that CO2 and other greenhouse gasses may be responsible for some of this warming, climate alarmists are grossly overestimating the sensitivity of climate to CO2, and thus overestimating future man-made warming. While the theory of greenhouse gas warming is fairly well understood, most of the warming, and all of the catastrophe, in future forecasts actually comes from a second theory that the Earth's climate system is dominated by strong positive feedbacks. This second theory is not at all settled and is at the heart of why climate models are greatly over-estimating future warming. Duration 90:37. ...

Global Warming Science Implodes; American Media Silent

Rick Moran -- American Thinker

The revelations have been nothing short of jaw dropping. Dozens - yes dozens - of claims made in the IPCC 2007 report on climate change that was supposed to represent the "consensus" of 2500 of the world's climate scientists have been shown to be bogus, or faulty, or not properly vetted, or simply pulled out of thin air. We know this because newspapers in Great Britain are doing their job. Perhaps its time to ask why this story being revealed overseas with new revelations almost daily can't get any traction here. U.N. Climate Change Panel Based Claims On Student Dissertation And Magazine Article

Richard Gray and Rebecca Lefort -- Telegraph (UK)

The revelation will cause fresh embarrassment for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which had to issue a humiliating apology earlier this month over inaccurate statements about global warming. In its most recent report, it stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information. However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them. The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master's degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps. ...

He is steadfastly refusing to go, but his position is becoming more and more untenable by the day, and the official climate science body will continue to leach credibility while he remains in charge. Four more have now been reported from the part of the latest IPCC report on Himalayan glaciers that contained the notorious -- and now withdrawn -- claim that they would disappear by 2035. World Misled Over Himalayan Glacier "Meltdown"

Jonathan Leake and Chris Hastings -- London Times (UK)

Two years ago the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a benchmark report that was claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming. A central claim was the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035. In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's 2007 report. It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. New York Daily News

Attorney General Eric Holder has opened the door to trying the 9/11 masterminds before a military tribunal rather than in civilian criminal court. Now he and Obama must march boldly through.  Democrats Hold Threat Over Republicans' Heads Going Into Health Care Talks

Senate Democrats may go into the bipartisan health care reform summit later this month holding a legislative gun to Republicans' heads. Some Democrats are readying a health care reform "Plan B" in case negotiations at the half-day televised forum on Feb. 25 go nowhere. The plan would involve passing part of the imperiled health care bill using reconciliation, a controversial procedural maneuver that would allow the package to pass with 51 votes, as opposed to the usual 60 required to overcome a filibuster.

The Fall Of The House Of Kennedy

Daniel Greenfield -- Canada Free Press (CA)

Witnessing the end of the Kennedy era is a little like seeing the fall of the Berlin Wall. The retirement of self-destructive Kennedy scion, Patrick Kennedy, will now mean that for the first time in a long time, there will be not a Kennedy in the Senate or in the House of Representatives. One notable way Democrats have been dealing with the problem of incumbency unpopularity in the midterm elections is by purging some of their own incumbents behind the scenes by encouraging them to retire, rather than face a party endorsed challengers. While the DNC or Rahm Emanuel can't be blamed for "retiring" Murtha, some of the retirements of incredibly unpopular figures like Senator Dodd or Patrick Kennedy, might well have gotten their start with a Dem night of the long knives that may just be getting started. ...

"He's out of the hospital and in the car back enroute to his home," Mr. McAuliffe told the morning news program. The cardiologist, Allan Schwartz, said that the 63-year-old former president-who's famous for his heavy work schedule and lifelong enthusiasm for fatty foods-wasn't to blame for the blockage. "He has really toed the line in terms of both diet and exercise," Dr. Schwartz said. The problems are "not related to anything he did." He added that the kind of bypass graft involved has a failure rate of 10%-20% after 5 to 6 years, terming it "part of the natural history" of the treatment. ...

YEST Harry Reid Scales Back Senate Jobs Bill, Reflecting Voter Anger

Mark Trumbull -- Christian Science Monitor

Senate majority leader Harry Reid said Thursday that he's focused on passing a smaller jobs bill than Barack Obama had hoped for. Senator Reid's move, backed by fellow Democrats in the Senate, still raises the prospect that a jobs bill can pass the Senate this month -- a top priority for Obama. But he rejected a larger bill outlined earlier Thursday by Democrat Max Baucus of Montana and Republican Charles Grassley of Iowa, senior members of the Senate Finance Committee. The shift in tactics signals that lawmakers are deeply aware of a restive electorate -- wanting genuine job creation but also a closer watch on federal budget deficits. The Senate plan differs in significant ways from a House "Jobs for Main Street" bill passed in December. It is smaller and more focused on the private sector, rather than on direct spending by federal and state governments. ...

"I wish they would" make a clarifying statement "so I could be out of my misery," Paterson told King, adding, "It's like a Kafkaesque scenario." Paterson said "clearly somebody is" out to get him with the explosive allegations, although he did not speculate as to who might be behind such an effort. He reiterated his determination to run for governor, and again denied allegations of infidelity and recreational drug use. ...

 The Wolfman (Movie Review)

Jessie Seitz -- Gothic Beauty Magazine

Least we forget the original 1941 version, also put out by Universal Studios, was in fact a major studio production. One of the most memorable things about the original, was its breath taking scenery and backdrops. The remake followed the design elements of the original flawlessly. Since both are set in the same time period, it was nice to see an updated version of the environment. Unfortunately the aesthetics of the movie are the only enjoyable thing about it. ...

Another Look At Obama's Origins

Jack Cashill -- American Thinker

The murky circumstances of Obama's birth invite attempts to make the known facts fit together. A cryptic poem by the 19-year old Obama called "Pop," relates an encounter between Obama and a man most reviewers presume to be Obama's maternal grandfather, Stanley Dunham. Dunham would have been in his early 60's at the time. The Obama of the poem is cynical, even a little bitter. He makes several allusions to the fact that he and the old man look and even smell alike, a fact that strikes Obama as more ironic than reassuring. Don Wilkie, a Michigan entrepreneur, says "I think the poem zeros in on that poignant moment when Obama was told that his grandfather was in reality his father." Wilkie concedes his theory is "off-the-wall," but he also offers photographic evidence to show that Obama much more closely resembles Dunham -- especially the telltale ears --than he does Barack Obama, Sr. ...

Anti-Tea-Party Ads Tied To Obama Eligibility

Chelsea Schilling -- World Net Daily

Democrat operatives, using the same address for an attorney who represented the Democratic National Committee in an eligibility lawsuit against Barack Obama, have launched an ad campaign and website called TheTeaPartyIsOver.org to "prevent the tea party's dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction." In the wake of Scott Brown's dramatic victory for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts, the energized national tea-party movement is targeting lawmakers deemed unresponsive to Americans. The anti-tea party website comes as Illinois will have its first-in-the-nation primaries Tuesday. The American Public Policy Committee shares an identical suite address with the Alliance for North Carolina; the Patriot Majority; and Sandler, Reiff & Young PC - the law firm of Joseph Sandler, general counsel to the Democratic National Committee who filed a motion to dismiss Philip Berg's eligibility lawsuit against Obama and the DNC. Sandler is also former counsel to both MoveOn.org and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim group named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist-finance case in U.S. history. ...

The 2010 Democratic 'Birther' Strategy

Zach Jones -- Australia.to

Notwithstanding the eligibility issue's complexity, when Obama's so-called 'birth certificate' appeared online, media supporters quickly realized it would likely appear farfetched to the casual reader that the document could mean anything other than absolute proof that Obama was born in Hawaii. As such, Obama's support in the media seized upon the possibility that they could easily ignore the actual parameters of the issue and shape the news to redefine the 'eligibility' issue to mean: if Obama has a Hawaiian Birth Certificate, of course he is a 'citizen', and of course, this equals Obama is eligible to be President. Voila, the media found their vehicle to infer that anyone questioning Obama's eligibility to serve as President of the United States was a complete and utter fool. Because, most people pay little attention to and/or fail to verify the details of news stories (most barely read past the headlines), the media has been able to pull off their slight of hand. And as the media is well aware, once people commit to a version of the facts they are reluctant to revisit an issue. Especially, given that many of the normal players (Hillary, Republicans, and the courts) for their own reasons have been reluctant to touch this story, it makes the casual observer's commitment to his or her position even stronger. Thus, the term 'birther' has become an effective tool for the media and politicians to use to ridicule their opponents. ...

D.C. Court Case Demands Obama Explain Eligibility

Bob Unruh -- World Net Daily

A prominent attorney who has shepherded a number of high-profile legal cases challenging Barack Obama'seligibility to be president has brought a "Quo Warranto" case to district court in Washington, D.C., alleging his allegiances have included Britain, Kenya and Indonesia. A Quo Warranto action essentially is a demand to know by what authority a public figure is acting. The case, brought by California attorney Orly Taitz on behalf of herself, was assigned to Chief Judge Royce Lamberth. John Eidsmoe, an expert on the U.S. Constitution now working with the Foundation on Moral Law, an organization founded by former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, previously said the demand was a legitimate course of action. Eidsmoe said it's clear that Obama has something in the documentation of his history, including his birth certificate, college records and other documents that "he does not want the public to know." ...

Appeals Court Told Obama 'Security Risk'; Lacks 'Constitutional Authority'

Bob Unruh -- World Net Daily

Attorney Mario Apuzzo filed the action with the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in January 2009 on behalf of Kerchner, Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr. Named as defendants were Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives, former Vice President Dick Cheney and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The case alleges Congress failed to follow the Constitution, which "provides that Congress must fully qualify the candidate 'elected' by the Electoral College Electors." The appeal said, "Plaintiffs allege that Obama has not conclusively proven that he was born in Hawaii. They also allege that even if he was so born, he cannot be an Article II 'natural born citizen' because his father was a British subject/citizen when Obama was born and Obama himself was born a British subject/citizen, all of which makes him ineligible to be president and commander in chief of the military." ...

Proposed Arizona Law: Dump Presidential Candidates Who Can't Prove Citizenship From Ballot

Howard Fischer -- Capitol Media Services

Barack Obama wants to run for reelection he would need to produce proof of both his U.S. birth and citizenship to get on the ballot in Arizona, if one state lawmaker gets her way. Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley, is preparing a law to require anyone running for president or vice president to provide proof to the Arizona Secretary of State's Office that they are legally eligible to seek the office. The U.S. Constitution requires the president -- and, by extension, the vice president -- to be "a natural born citizen." Burges would require the Secretary of State to verify that status independently. "If it's not certifiable, then that person's name would not go on the ballot," she said. ...

Secret Service Agents Pay Visits To Those Who Question Obama's Eligibility

Drew Zahn -- World Net Daily

In blogs, interviews and e-mails, "birthers" around the country are reporting surveillance and visits from the U.S. Secret Service, whose agents have questioned - or, as some report, intimidated - them over their insistence that Barack Obama prove his constitutional eligibility to serve as president. Stephen Pidgeon, an attorney for Washington state plaintiffs challenging Obama's eligibility, grew suspicious in March when his wife and coworkers reported being shadowed by police and three, black SUVs. "We are definitely under surveillance and it's coordinated with Homeland Security," Pidgeon alleged.  Glenn Beck Dumps On "Birthers" Again

Drew Zahn -- World Net Daily

Yet again, Glenn Beck shows himself to be completely ignorant of the issue, while presuming to ridicule those who have taken the time to research it. The "certification of live birth" posted online and widely touted as "Obama's birth certificate" does not in any way prove he was born in Hawaii, since the same "short-form" document is easily obtainable for children not born in Hawaii. The true "long-form" birth certificate, which includes information such as the name of the birth hospital and attending physician, is the only document that can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, but to date he has not permitted its release for public or press scrutiny. ...

 America's Two Unconstitutional Presidents

Dianna C. Cotter -- Family Security Matters

Students of history know that history repeats itself. Today we are reliving the past of 1880's. The similarities between the 21st President and the 44th are startling, and the ramifications are huge. Attorneys Leo Donofrio and Steve Pidgeon have been retained by a group of Chrysler dealers who lost their franchises in the Chrysler bankruptcy sale. Quo Warranto is one of 2 ways to remove a sitting President, and is being filed on behalf of the Auto Dealers who had their dealerships taken from them in the summer of 2009, and bankruptcy motion actions are being filed in the Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York.  Closed Chrysler Dealers To Challenge Obama's Eligibility

Bob Unruh -- World Net Daily

Two lawyers, Leo Donofrio and Stephen Pidgeon, have joined forces to assemble a case challenging in U.S. bankruptcy court the federal government's use of Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to bail out Chrysler and in doing so may have created a scenario that finally will bring to a head the issue of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president. Their new case questions the authority by which the federal government and administration officials intervened in the auto industry, specifically allocating some $8 billion-plus to Chrysler, which later was forgiven. The clients in the case are former Chrysler dealers who lost their businesses as part of the "restructuring" of the automobile company. They have been damaged with the loss of their businesses, and the case alleges the Obama administration, through its use of TARP money, influenced Chrysler's outcome. Along with a bankruptcy court challenge, a "quo warranto" case is being filed in Washington, D.C., demanding to know by what authority administration officials set up the financial arrangements with Chrysler and handed out taxpayer money. As part of the demand for information about the authority used, Donofrio confirmed, there will be questions about Obama's eligibility to be president. ...

Americans Turn Right On Reds

by Robert Jay March

After months of demeaning comments about the Tea Party movement, the so-called "Democratic" Party, which is anything but democratic, is now quaking in it's Manolo Blahnik boots. Having tried to force-feed the takeover of the American Health Care system to the American public over it's vociferous objections, saying "Let's win it for Teddy," it is ironic that their wake-up call came in the form of the loss of the late Senator Kennedy's Senate seat to an opponent of that very bill. Obama's knee-jerk response, true to form, was to blame the loss on eight years of George W. Bush.

After a few days to reflect and allow the humiliation and repudiation to penetrate that thick noggin of his, Obama was interviewed by Dianne Sawyer, who asked him if one term was enough. The question was shocking enough in and of itself, in that it was only a year ago that Obama was proclaimed as our saviour, the demi-deity who would solve all problems (hosanna in the highest and praise be to Barry). Obama chuckled nervously, and replied "I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president."

Actually, he fails on all counts. One, he's not legally President, per Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution. Two, in play-acting the role to the most receptive audience any politician has ever had, he's blown it so badly that, even in Germany, the press is saying "Bid fairwell to Obama." The scent of political "blood in the water" is so pungent that Democrats in droves are re-considering plans to run for office, and Republicans who had not planned to run are now gearing up to do so.

Those in the Tea Party movement who are celebrating the victory of Scott Brown have good reason the celebrate, but I urge them to keep it in perspective. Brown's victory was a repudiation of the Health Care Bill, not an embrace of limited government per se. Half of the people who voted for Brown believe government should do more to solve problems, which is inimical to the Tea Party philosophy.

Scott Brown is a "progressive" (read: "Big Government") Republican in the mode of John McCain. He is a friend of convenience, a temporary ally whom they will probably find themselves in opposition to down the road. While the enemy of my enemy may be my friend, I'd rather have a true friend at my side when going into battle.

Meanwhile, down at the Elephant Preserve, the elders of the Grand Old Party are scratching their heads, trying to figure out how to co-opt the Tea Party Movement and turn it into an appendage of the Republican Party. Remember how outraged the GOP was when Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty and Fred Thompson endorsed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman in New York's 23rd District Congressional race? The party had picked yet another progressive, Dede Scozzafava, and all the party pros, such as Newt Gingrich, had endorsed her, feeling that party loyalty trumped principle. When it became apparent that Scozzafava has no chance of winning, she withdrew from the race -- and threw her support to the Democrat. So much for party loyalty.

Putting party over principle will leave us forever condemned to whip-sawing from left to right, as every urge to "throw the rascals out" leaves us with only the other set of rascals to vote for. Don't be a Democrat. Don't be a Republican. Don't align yourself with any political party. Be a LOCist.

What's a LOCist? Quoting from my Editorial of April 5, 2008 edition of MarchReport.com, brilliant as it was,

"It's a Party of one, of which I am Party Chairman. It is based on the 1960s theory of television programming put forth by CBS 'master scheduler' Mike Dann and Paul Klien of NBC, called the "LOP" or "Least Objectionable Program" theory. In those days, there were just the 3 major networks (or 2 plus ABC, if you're really honest) and programming was based on the concept of the Mass Audience. Nowadays, with network audiences down to about 50% from a high of 90%, the LOP theory no longer works.

"HOWEVER, when it comes to Politics, there are only 2 'channels': Democratic and Republican; all the other parties are the equivalent of local stations, some with and some without network affiliations. Each major party needs MASS NUMBERS, so they try to nominate the Candidate that is Least Objectionable to their base. That's why, in primary season, Democrats run to the Left and Republicans to the Right, but in the General Elections, both move towards the perceived center. Party loyalists always vote for their party's candidate; the rest of us vote for the Least Objectionable Candidate (LOC). The candidate perceived by most voters to be Least Objectionable wins. Yay! Tapioca pudding for everyone!"

Given that Government is a necessary evil (the operative word being evil), there will always be politicians. People who succeed in politics are people who lie well enough to get a plurality of voters to put them in office. While some may get into politics initially to serve the public, those who survive have that youthful zeal burned out of them. Much as a sword-maker pounds and heats his steel into submission, forming the blade he intended to form, so each party pounds their new blood into a pulp useful only for feeding the machine.

Until such time as our "tea" is steeped strongly enough that we can field candidates that stand on principle, rather than stand for party loyalty over integrity, we must vote for the Least Objectionable Candidate, regardless of what party they are affiliated with. Then, we must hold their feet to the fire, constantly reminding them of how they got elected in the first place, and how fleeting their jobs can be.

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

A reader who wishes to remain anonymous sent in this criticism:

Mr. March, You linked the video of Hillary Clinton having what has been referred to as an 'outburst' on your site, yet, you did not explain the context. You omitted the truth and presented the situation as another crazy Clinton moment. You not only misportrayed the situation, you lost an opportunity to share/address the plight of women who have no rights in their country. I have been a long time reader of your March Report and have shared the Report with many people. I wrote to you addressing the Clinton video and have seen no retraction or explanation. I won't be referring anyone to this page anymore. My belief and trust that you maintain objectivity and research all sides has been permanently altered recently. Consevative or not, you have always seemed to work at being fair and true to journalism. I now am seeing you differently.

Robert Jay March Responds:

This reader has mischaracterized the report. In fact, we went out of way to add clarity to the situation. The copy proved by WMAQ-TV, the televsion station which provide the report through one of our syndicators, said "A Congolese university student seems to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's." In order to portray the situation accurately, we rewrote the copy to read as follows (emphasis added): "As a result of a translator's error, a Congolese university student appears to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's. Hillary explodes, and hilarity ensues. Oh, those wacky, wacky Clintons." That was all the information that was available on August 11, 2009, when we ran the story. Witty retort aside, we went out of our way to clarify the report. Further details from the State Department and the White House did not become available until the following day.

Another reader, who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "Needles," has an unusual take on the Certifi-Gate crisis:

The birthers need to step back and consider the consequences of their actions. If Mr. Obama were to be declared ineligible, there are several possible outcomes. They could remove him from office and install Joe Biden as President. The argument would be made that if Mr. Obama was not eligible to run for President, then the ticket is invalid as well and Joe Biden should not be Vice President. The next person in the order of succession would be Speaker of the House; Nancy Pelosi. Because no eligible candidate received a majority of electoral votes, the selection of the President could be thrown into the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, would then be king-maker. The choices are Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi or someone Nancy Pelosi picks. Maybe it is best to leave the birth certificate matter alone.

Robert Jay March Responds:

Mr. Obama being declared ineligible does not legally invalidate Biden's election, provided he is qualified. Even if it did, the Constitution is too important to ignore; it is all that separates us from tyranny. Regardless of the consequences, if in fact Mr. Obama is ineligible, he must be removed. That said, all we have thus far is the preponderance of evidence leading to a likely conclusion, not conclusive facts. That is why the revelation of the long-form birth certificate is so important.

Finally, a third reader who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "unihawker," writes:

Dear Mr. March, I was watching TV the other night and they showed a clip of Obama in Kenya during his trip there during the campaign. I am not sure if it was just some Freudian slip or not, but he said as he was waiving to the people greeting him, "Thank you, it is great to be back home". My question was, If he was not born in that country why would he call it home?

Robert Jay March Responds:

Good question, for which I have no answer. If this report is correct, it is yet another contribution to the preponderance of evidence that implies Mr. Obama is ineligible. A copy of the long form birth certificate would cost Mr. Obama $12; thus far he has spent $1.3 Million to avoid producing it. As in any investigation, follow the money: in this case, what money is being spent on to conceal.
