At the request of some of our readers, discerning and literate bunch that you all are, commencing with the May 1, 2008 issue we began archiving the March Report in a form suitable for presentation. Be advised that some of the links to external sites on the archived pages will have gone dead. Morte. Kaputski. That being the case, archives will be deleted, or replaced with an image of the headline area only, as the page itself becomes useless (assuming that it wasn't to begin with, which may be presumptuous in and of itself).

Washington Is In A Frenzy Over 'Game Change'

Greg Milam -- Sky News (UK)

Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime, for example, revealed the racially insensitive comments of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid about then-candidate Barack Obama. Obama accepted Reid's apology at the weekend but the calls for the veteran Nevada Senator to resign continue to grow as the partisan squabbling reaches a new peak. But it is the 'revelations' about the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, John McCain and Sarah Palin that are, in political circles at least, the stuff of fevered talk. Like the reported fact that Mrs Palin wanted to call Mr Biden 'Joe' during televised debates because she couldn't stop saying 'O'Biden' in rehearsals. And some of the private details about personal relationships that, frankly, we could all live without knowing.

British Writer Gets Sales Boost From Tiger Woods Crash

Agence France-Presse (FR)

Sales of a little-known British scientist's book have soared after it was pictured in Tiger Woods' crashed car, he said Thursday. "Get a Grip on Physics" by Doctor John Gribbin was photographed in a footwell of the car after the US golf superstar smashed it into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his Florida home last month. Within days of the pictures going round the world, the book's best-seller ranking on Internet retailer Amazon.com shot up from 396,224th position to 2,268th.

Walgreen Could Pull Pharmacies From Medicaid Program

Nathan Becker and Kelly Nolan -- Dow Jones Newswires

Walgreen Co. (WAG) warned Wednesday night it will withdraw about half of its pharmacies from the state of Washington's Medicaid program Feb. 15 as the program continues to cut back on reimbursements. The nation's largest drug-store chain made the same vow last year, but a smaller cut in reimbursement rates made Walgreen stand down. A similar standoff occurred last year in Delaware. The company said Wednesday the most-recent cut in Washington has resulted in Walgreen losing money on the dispensing of 95% of brand-name medications. ...

Judge OKs Imports Of E-Cigarettes, Blasts FDA

Reuters

In a sharply worded decision, U.S. District Judge Richard Leon scolded the Food and Drug Administration for trying to assert jurisdiction over the cigarettes, which are battery-powered or rechargeable devices that vaporize a liquid nicotine solution. "This case appears to be yet another example of FDA's aggressive efforts to regulate recreational tobacco products as drugs or devices," he said in granting an injunction barring the FDA from regulating the cigarettes as a drug-device combination. E-cigarettes were first made in China and are sold mostly on the Internet. The battery-powered devices work by a emitting a "puff" or fine mist of nicotine in the lungs. A law passed last year gave the FDA power over regular cigarettes and other tobacco products. But while e-cigarettes contain nicotine, they do not contain tobacco and are not subject to the new oversight. ...

 Hubble Unravels Odd Galaxy's History

Alexis Madrigal --Wired

The galaxy NGC 2976, which is located 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major, has been shaped by its interaction with the M81 group of galaxies. M81 set off star birth in the distant past, but about 500 million years ago, new stars stopped bursting into existence through the outer galaxy. Some of the galaxy's gas was stripped away, and the rest collapsed to the center, leaving just a region 5,000 light-years wide near the core that is still making stars. ...

China Defends Censorship After Google Threat

Steven Mufson -- Washington Post

Chinese authorities on Thursday defended online censorship and encouraged Internet users to censor themselves in an apparent response to Google's announcement that it would stop filtering out sensitive information from it Chinese-based Web site. Analysts in Beijing said that the government has been restrained in its response to Google, despite the challenge it poses to government regulations. But it remains unclear what concrete steps it will take. Google has said that it would stop self-censoring its search engine results in China, as it has done since it started a Chinese version of its search engine. But the company also said it would discuss how that would fit with the license the government authorizes it to do business. Most business and political analysts here say it wouldn't. ...

Google Cyberattack Used Unknown Internet Explorer Hole

Scott Morrison -- Dow Jones Newswires

The attackers took aim at Google and numerous other corporations by targeting one or a few key individuals in each company, tricking them into clicking on a link or a file that appeared to have been sent from a trusted source, said McAfee Inc. (MFE) Chief Technology Officer George Kurtz in a blog post. This enabled malicious software to be downloaded and installed on the targets' corporate computers, opening back doors that allowed the attackers to perform reconnaissance and gain complete control over the compromised systems, said Kurtz. ...

YEST For Google, China Remains Closed Commercially, Too

Peter Ford -- Christian Science Monitor

Google.cn has been winning a growing number of users, despite coming under fire from the authorities. Three times last year the government-run China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center issued public complaints that searches on Google.cn could turn up pornographic sites, recommending that "the relevant legal enforcement departments punish the company according to the law." Users have also sometimes found that when they enter a search term on Google.cn, they are mysteriously redirected to competitor Baidu. ...

YEST Google's China Threat Upends Business Norms

Ian Johnson And Jason Dean -- Wall Street Journal

Google's threat to withdraw from China over censorship and cyberspying is a sign of a growing willingness among foreign companies and governments to overturn the conventional wisdom that has defined decades of engagement by the West: that China is so big that it must be accommodated. While the U.S. Internet giant's move isn't likely to be emulated by other big foreign companies, its unexpected defiance is certain to fuel debate over business relations with China. Inside China, some Internet activists were elated by the news. "I think this is a big challenge to the Chinese government now," said Isaac Mao, a blogging pioneer in China. He said removing itself from the Chinese market would enable Google to use its superior technology to create tools for users to circumvent Internet censorship. Google has "enough computing power to do that," he said. ...

Conan O'Brien, Simon Cowell And The Octomom

WNAC-TV

Video In today's update: The NBC mixup with Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno. Conan O'Brien has refused to play along with NBC's plan to move "The Tonight Show" and return Jay Leno to late-night, abruptly derailing the network's effort to resolve its scheduling mess. Plus, Simon Cowell has announced that he'll leave "American Idol' at the end of this season to executive-produce and judge an American version of his hit English program "The X Factor" was designed to commence one of those extended, heartwarming farewells. What an instant ratings booster! Now, even viewers skeptical about the ascent of self-described fan's representative Ellen DeGeneres to the judges' table will have to tune in -- if only to savor the twilight of Simon's patented nastiness. And finally, now we know why Octomom Nadya Suleman works out in the middle of the night ... it's easier to get into the gym when you're persona non grata. We found out Octomom fell behind on her membership fees at least three times at 24 Hour Fitness. Looks like the gym has a 3 strikes rule, because our sources say Octomom's membership was yanked January 4. As for what led up to the termination ... Octo apparently used at least two credit or debit cards that were declined. Suggestion -- if Octo needs a workout, she can lift her 14 kids. ...

Cybill Shepherd's Son Charged In Mid-Air Thefts

WCAU-TV

A witness told authorities they saw Cyrus Zachariah Shepherd-Oppenheim, 22, take items out of the luggage, police said. This allegedly happened on a United Airways Flight from San Francisco into Philadelphia. Shepherd-Oppenheim was traveling back to school at the University of Pennsylvania following winter break. "Another individual let the complainant know that they believe that the defendant had taken some items from that bag," said Philadelphia Police Lt. Frank Venore. Obama's Deception: Health Care, C-SPAN, And Other Broken Promises

Obama's Weak Response To Airliner Attack Increases Threat To U.S.

Jim Meyers -- NewsMax

Influential journalist Arnaud de Borchgrave says that the Obama administration is "trying to make the best of a very bad situation" by downplaying the security lapses that led to a Nigerian sneaking an explosive device aboard a plane. De Borchgrave also warned about the threat posed by Pakistanis who are British citizens and can enter the U.S. without a visa; and he pointed to a "growing convergence" between the ambitions of Iran and al-Qaida in the Middle East. Asked about the Obama administration's response to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian Muslim who spent time in Yemen and allegedly attempted to detonate an explosive device aboard a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day, de Borchgrave said, "I think it's been very weak." ...

Peter Green and Bill Faries -- Bloomberg News

A U.S.-led rescue effort brought ships, mobile hospitals and food to Haiti after the prime minister said an earthquake two days ago that decimated Port-au- Prince may have killed more than 100,000 people. The United Nations and international aid groups said time is running out to save thousands of people trapped beneath collapsed buildings in the capital by the country's worst quake in more than a century. President Rene Preval said his nation, the Western Hemisphere's poorest, has been "destroyed." "People buried under the rubble are still alive," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said yesterday. YEST Largest Quake To Hit The Area In Some 200 Year

Brian Wagner -- Voice Of America

Witnesses said a hospital in the capital collapsed, a luxury hotel in Petionville had sustained major damage and many other buildings were destroyed. The United Nations said there was serious damage to the headquarters of its mission in Haiti, and a large number of staff were unaccounted for. Additional information from the island has been slow in coming, as telephone service from abroad has been disrupted. Julie Dutton, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey says she expects the damage to be severe, in part because many buildings are not designed to withstand earthquakes. "This is actually the largest earthquake we have seen in the last 200 years in this region," she noted. "There has not been a earthquake of Magnitude 6 range since the 1970s." ...

Louise Ivers, the clinical director of the aid group Partners in Health, said in an e-mail to her colleagues: "Port-au-Prince is devastated, lot of deaths. SOS. SOS ... Temporary field hospital by us at UNDP needs supplies, pain meds, bandages. Please help us." The headquarters of the United Nations mission collapsed, the United Nations said in a statement, and many employees were missing. "We know there will be casualties but we cannot give figures for the time being," Alain Le Roy, the chief of U.N. peacekeeping forces, told The AP in New York. The Caribbean is not usually considered a seismic danger zone, but earthquakes have struck here in the past. "There's a history of large, devastating earthquakes," said Paul Mann, a senior research scientist at the Institute for Geophysics at the University of Texas, "but they're separated by hundreds of years." Most of Haiti lies on the Gonave microplate, a sliver of the earth's crust between the much larger North American plate to the north and the Caribbean plate to the south. The earthquake on Tuesday occurred when what appears to be part of the southern fault zone broke and slid. ...

"Health Care" Bill Actually A Thinly-Disguiseed Power Grab

SusanAnne Hiller -- Big Government

To achieve the goal of a universal, single-payer health system, the White House must secure the power it needs by amending the Social Security Act to transfer pivotal controls from Congress to the executive branch. This transfer of power would ultimately give the President and the majority party, in this case the radical left Obama White House and Pelosi-Reid led progressive Democrats, the authority to frame and manipulate new policy, coverage options, and reimbursements, ultimately reshaping the future US health care system into a something unrecognizable in this country. ...

Obama's Senate Point Man Is In Trouble

Liz Halloran -- National Public Radio

Buffeted by relentlessly bad poll numbers, a state economy that continues to struggle, and questions about how his foundering candidacy may be affecting his son's run for Nevada governor, Reid has faced calls to step aside and pundit predictions of his impending political demise. Deep-pocketed Republicans nationwide are poised to flood the state with money to defeat the point man for Obama's legislative agenda. The 70-year-old senator may indeed be in peril, but Nevada politicos say that while the unpredictable Reid is down -- way down -- he's not out. "But there are two distinct things that give him a chance," Nevada political columnist and blogger Jon Ralston says. "The Republican field is filled with second-, third- and 19th-tier candidates, and the Republican Party organization here is virtually nonexistent." ...

YEST Attorney Challenges Constitutionality Of Health Care Reform Legislation

Michael Connelly, Retired attorney, Constitutional Law Instructor

This legislation is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation" to support the Constitution. If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

YEST Weekly Standard Reporter Roughed Up Outside Democrat Fundraiser

Philip Klein -- American Spectator

Video AND TEXT. The Weekly Standard's John McCormack reports that he was pushed by somebody connected to the campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley after trying to ask her a question outside of a fundraiser in Washington Tuesday evening. You may recall that McCormack is the same reporter who contributed to Dede Scozzafava's implosion in the NY-23 congressional race when one of her campaign staffers called the cops on him. Coakley staffers claim they didn't know who the man was who pushed him, though by every indication he was somehow connected to the campaign. ...

YEST Obama Wants $33 Billion More For Wars

Associated Press

The extra $33 billion in 2010 would go mostly toward expansion of the war in Afghanistan. Obama ordered an extra 30,000 troops for that war as part of an overhaul of the war strategy late last year. The request for that additional funding will be sent to Congress at the same time as the record spending request for next year, making financing the war an especially difficult pill for some of Obama's Democratic allies to swallow. ...

YEST Jack Cafferty Says Nancy Pelosi Is 'A Horrible Woman'

CNN

Jack Cafferty: "California, Pelosi's home state, is faced with a $20 billion budget deficit. Governor Schwarzenegger's budget plan will force 200,000 children off low-cost medical insurance, will end home care for more than 300,000 sick and elderly citizens, and will cut income assistance to hundreds of thousands more. This nation is hurting, but Nancy Pelosi can use three military jets for a December trip to Copenhagen, and then refuse to answer any questions about it. Here's the question: How much do members of Congress feel the pain of the American people during this recession? What a horrible woman she is." ...

YEST Sarah Palin Blasts '60 Minutes,' Obama In Fox News Debut

Peter Grier -- Voice Of America

Ex-governor of Alaska, ex-VP candidate, and newly installed Fox News personality, Sarah Palin, on Tuesday night blasted the venerable CBS News flagship for a report on her that she labeled "BS." "I had been warned not to watch it," said Ms. Palin of the "60 Minutes" segment in question. That segment dealt with a new book on the campaign that alleges, among other things, that Palin did not know why North and South Korea are two different countries. "That is a lie," said Palin. Host Bill O'Reilly of "The O'Reilly Factor" said that Palin couldn't have bested Vice President Biden in a debate if she were really that dumb, and offered her his show as a base for future anti-"60 Minutes" offensives. "You now have a forum here at Fox News where you can immediately neutralize '60 Minutes'," Mr. O'Reilly said. Palin also said she was "so thankful for the tea party movement", and added that she would not gain financially from addressing an upcoming tea party event. ...

YEST Sarah Palin's Victorian Critics

S.E. Cupp -- New York Daily News

Though we're more than a century removed from the Victorian era, the myth of the fragile woman is very much alive and well. Amid news that Sarah Palin will become a Fox News contributor, her skeptics are already breathless with anxiety, fretting that she isn't hearty enough to survive the grueling rigors of punditry. Yes, punditry. Get out the fainting couches. Only in the glossy, rarefied and coiffed world of television is 42 minutes of thinking considered a challenge. The idea that a former governor, a seasoned politician and a mother of five from Alaska isn't capable of chiming in every now and then on issues with which she is already intimately familiar is downright archaic. ...

YEST 9 Vermont State Office Candidates Favor Secession

John Curran -- Associated Press

Peter Garritano thinks it's time for Vermont to call it quits with America. The way the 54-year-old automobile salesman sees it, the "empire" is about to implode and tiny Vermont can lead the way by becoming its own independent republic. So he's running for lieutenant governor, topping a slate of secession-minded candidates seeking statewide offices this year. Their name: Vermont Independence Day. "The only hope is to just say, 'Look, this isn't working for us. We want to start fresh again, with a real democracy,'" Garritano said. "I think that's the answer. Hopefully, it won't take another horrible economic breakdown to realize that the people running things don't look out for the little guy, or us, or the soldiers. It's all about profit and getting the last drops of oil on Earth and trampling people's rights." ...

NEW! March Report Podcast

News and Opinion Presented by Robert Jay March

21:39. Recorded
Monday, January 11, 2010
TOPICS DISCUSSED:

Glenn Beck:
The Verdict Is In

On the January 4, 2010 edition of Glenn Beck's Radio Program, Beck mocked the so-called "birthers": those of us who believe, and have submitted extensive evidence to prove, that Barack Obama is not legally qualified to serve as President of The United States, per Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution: "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President." March discusses Beck's remarks, why he made them, and what Beck's afraid of. During his last podcast, Robert Jay March asked, "Is Glenn Beck a Hero or a Coward?" The verdict is now in.

Britt Hume's Remarks on Tiger Woods and Buddhism.

On the January 3, 2010 edition of Fox News Sunday, Hume said this: "the extent to which [Tiger] can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He's said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith." Robert Jay March, a practicing Buddhist for 38 years, and a devout Catholic before that, corrects Hume's misunderstanding of the Buddhist faith, explaining how that "kind of forgiveness and redemption" is implicit in the Buddhism, and the personal tragedy in Hume's life that account for his statement.

Megan O'Matz -- Sun Sentinel

A state senator who oversees Florida's Department of Children & Families is calling for an investigation into whether someone knowingly filed a false child abuse report against the Woods family, perhaps needlessly traumatizing the Woods children and wasting time and tax dollars. Doing so is a felony. "To use the resources of the state for some grand celebrity theater is completely unacceptable," said Sen. Jeremy W. Peters -- New York Times

Mr. Paterson reiterated that contrary to initial reports, his son was not arrested. "He was questioned and released," the governor said. "He's a minor, and there were a bunch of kids that were playing a dice game. The principal said the kids play the game all the time. No money was involved. It wasn't gambling. And you know, it's just one of those situations." After the police took Alex Paterson into custody, they discovered that he had a debit card that did not belong to him, people with knowledge of the case said.  Dollar Falls After Disappointing Us Data

Bradley Davis -- Dow Jones Newswires

Falling U.S. Treasury yields conspired with the disappointing data to pressure the dollar. Commodity-backed currencies led the charge, with the greenback tumbling to its lowest level in almost two months against the Australian dollar and sinking to a three-month low against the Canadian dollar. "It does look like that the market...has pushed out even further the timing of when the Fed hikes rates," said Meg Browne, senior currency strategist at Brown Brothers and Harriman in New York. "That's positive for foreign currencies because it means U.S. rates will remain low for a longer period." Late Thursday in New York, the euro was at $1.4504 from $1.4507 late Wednesday, according to EBS via CQG. The dollar was at Y91.09 from Y91.47, while the euro was at Y131.93 from Y132.71. The U.K. pound was at $1.6335 from $1.6285. The dollar was at CHF1.0182 from CHF1.0186. YEST America Slides Deeper Into Depression As Wall Street Revels

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard -- Telegraph (UK)

Is history repeating itself? Barack Obama has been accused by some economists of making the same mistakes policymakers in the US made in the Great Depression, which followed the Wall Street crash of 1929. US house prices have eked out five months of gains on the Case-Shiller index, but momentum stalled in October in half the cities even before the latest surge of 40 basis points in mortgage rates. Karl Case (of the index) says prices may sink another 15 percent. "If the 2008 and 2009 loans go bad, then we're back where we were before: in a nightmare." The Fed's own Monetary Multiplier crashed to an all-time low of 0.809 in mid-December. Commercial paper has shrunk by $280 billion since October. Bank credit has been racing down a hair-raising black run since June. It has dropped from $10.844 trillion to $9.013 trillion since November 25. The MZM money supply is contracting at a 3pc annual rate. Broad M3 money is contracting at over 5pc.

YEST FDIC Pushes To Rein In Executive Pay At Banks

Binyamin Appelbaum -- Washington Post

The FDIC, which collects fees from all banks to repay depositors in failed banks, is considering a plan to reduce the fees paid by companies that take specified steps such as paying bonuses in the form of stock that cannot be sold immediately. Banks that don't comply would face higher fees, on the theory that bankers paid solely for short-term results will take greater risks, increasing the chances of a bank failure. The agency's board agreed by a 3 to 2 margin Tuesday to seek public comment on a preliminary version of the proposal, which could be adopted later this year. But John C. Dugan, who heads the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and sits on the FDIC's board, registered sharp objections to the proposal, which he described as premature and possibly outside the FDIC's authority. ...

Fox Woos O'Brien, But Pact Is A Hurdle

Bill Carter -- New York Times

The dance between the Fox network and NBC's disaffected late-night host, Conan O'Brien, got livelier Monday when Kevin Reilly, the president of Fox Entertainment, spelled out in some detail how interested Fox would be in starting a late-night show starring Mr. O'Brien - provided he found a way to extricate himself from his NBC contract. That could prove to be a difficult extraction, at least as some senior NBC executives see it. The reason? The contract, NBC is arguing, guaranteed Mr. O'Brien would be installed as host of "The Tonight Show" - and unlike many other deals for late-night stars, Mr. O'Brien's contract contains no specific language about the time period the show would occupy, NBC executives said. ...

 Leno Now NBC's Image Problem.

San Francisco Chronicle

Video AND TEXT. In the war of perception, NBC hasn't just lost. The carcass of the Peacock is being kicked when it's already dead. That's not a pretty picture. Do you know how much money companies put into "promoting the brand"? Well, despite the Phalanx of the Clueless at NBC, somebody up in the Big Offices must know that the public relations beating that NBC is taking can have long-term ramifications. And by ramifications we mean financial ones -- and those are the only ones NBC cares about. The question is, how long do they put up with Conan trashing NBC? Because the longer he does it, the better he's getting at it. And the funnier as well. That certainly makes him valuable to Fox. ...

Hollie McKay -- FOX News

"Everybody has been walking around really sad and it's really weird as far as going on with the show. It's miserable around there and Conan gave a speech to all of his staff and he broke down crying," said our source. "He is incredibly tight with his staff. This is the staff from his inception, from when he first started, which is why this is pretty unreal. This is the staff from the start." Most of Conan's team uprooted from New York to Los Angeles when he moved from his "Late Night" slot just seven months ago, and many are fearful of the future, says the source. "They all moved out here to come and work on the show and they don't have the monetary resources that Conan has. They started their lives out here (in LA) and didn't have cars before, they were taking the subway, and now they've purchased cars, they've purchased homes, and they've done a tremendous amount to make a life out here because they thought they were in it for the long haul," said the insider. ...

Video AND TEXT. Last night, it was as though the late-night hosts were talking not just about, but to and even as each other. In the wake of Conan O'Brien's announcement that he would "not participate" in the "destruction" of the Tonight Show legacy, Jimmy Kimmel said on his show, "Fortunately, I will!" • Welcome to NBC. Where our new slogan is, "No longer just screwing up prime-time."
  • When I was a little boy, I remember watching "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and thinking "Someday, I'm going to host that show for 7 months."

YEST The Legal Ramifications

Eriq Gardner and Matthew Belloni -- THR, Esq.

Does Conan O'Brien's contract give NBC the right to bump him to 12:05 to make room for Jay Leno at 11:35? That's the $40 million legal question hovering over O'Brien's open defiance of NBC's plan to move his "Tonight Show" 30 minutes later. Despite all the hoopla, it's really a simple query. If Conan's deal says his "Tonight" will be broadcast at 11:35pm (or the equivalent post-local news slot in the few markets like Phoenix that air him earlier), then NBC would be in violation of his contract by attempting to bump him. If there isn't any time-slot language in his deal, Conan's refusal to take the 12:05 slot would put him in breach if he doesn't do his show, presumably allowing NBC to void his deal without paying him off. ...

YEST The Biggest Loser

Maureen Dowd -- New York Times

As NBC reeled from the fallout of Jeff Zucker's tacit admission that his attempt to refashion the customary way Americans watch prime time had failed, Hollywood was ablaze with baldenfreude. In a town where nobody makes less than they're worth, and most people pull in an obscene amount more, there has been a single topic of discussion: How does Jeff Zucker keep rising and rising while the fortunes of NBC keep falling and falling? "Zucker is a case study in the most destructive media executive ever to exist," said a honcho at another network. "You'd have to tell me who else has taken a once-great network and literally destroyed it." Zucker is a master at managing up with bosses and calculating cost-per-hour benefits, but even though he made money on cable shows, he could not program network to save his life. He started by greenlighting the regrettable "Emeril" and ended by having the aptly titled "The Biggest Loser" as one of his only winners. ...

YEST Cell Phones And Do Not Call List

Chad Douglas -- KHQA-TV

We recently got an e-mail saying if you didn't register your cell phone number with the national do not call list by the end of the month, you would start getting telemarketing calls on your cell phone. The information in this e-mail is false. It's currently illegal for telemarketers to contact you on your cell phone. That said, it would be wise to register with the National DO NOT CALL list. To register, or verify your phone numbers are registered, call 1-888-382-1222, or click the following link: www.donotcall.gov. ...

Certifi-Gate! America In Captivity

Proposed Arizona Law: Dump Presidential Candidates Who Can't Prove Citizenship From Ballot

Howard Fischer -- Capitol Media Services

Barack Obama wants to run for reelection he would need to produce proof of both his U.S. birth and citizenship to get on the ballot in Arizona, if one state lawmaker gets her way. Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley, is preparing a law to require anyone running for president or vice president to provide proof to the Arizona Secretary of State's Office that they are legally eligible to seek the office. The U.S. Constitution requires the president -- and, by extension, the vice president -- to be "a natural born citizen." Burges would require the Secretary of State to verify that status independently. "If it's not certifiable, then that person's name would not go on the ballot," she said. ...

YEST Secret Service Agents Pay Visits To Those Who Question Obama's Eligibility

Drew Zahn -- World Net Daily

In blogs, interviews and e-mails, "birthers" around the country are reporting surveillance and visits from the U.S. Secret Service, whose agents have questioned - or, as some report, intimidated - them over their insistence that Barack Obama prove his constitutional eligibility to serve as president. Stephen Pidgeon, an attorney for Washington state plaintiffs challenging Obama's eligibility, grew suspicious in March when his wife and coworkers reported being shadowed by police and three, black SUVs. "We are definitely under surveillance and it's coordinated with Homeland Security," Pidgeon alleged. The author of this story contacted the Secret Service and spoke with the agent Laudenslager reports visited him in Pennsylvania, but the agent explained he was not permitted to comment. ...

Glenn Beck Dumps On "Birthers" Again

Drew Zahn -- World Net Daily

Yet again, Glenn Beck shows himself to be completely ignorant of the issue, while presuming to ridicule those who have taken the time to research it. The "certification of live birth" posted online and widely touted as "Obama's birth certificate" does not in any way prove he was born in Hawaii, since the same "short-form" document is easily obtainable for children not born in Hawaii. The true "long-form" birth certificate, which includes information such as the name of the birth hospital and attending physician, is the only document that can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, but to date he has not permitted its release for public or press scrutiny. ...

 America's Two Unconstitutional Presidents

Dianna C. Cotter -- Family Security Matters

Students of history know that history repeats itself. Today we are reliving the past of 1880's. The similarities between the 21st President and the 44th are startling, and the ramifications are huge. Attorneys Leo Donofrio and Steve Pidgeon have been retained by a group of Chrysler dealers who lost their franchises in the Chrysler bankruptcy sale. Quo Warranto is one of 2 ways to remove a sitting President, and is being filed on behalf of the Auto Dealers who had their dealerships taken from them in the summer of 2009, and bankruptcy motion actions are being filed in the Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York. It is expected that as many as 50 to 100 Auto Dealers may join lead Plaintiff James Anderer in the suits. ...

Closed Chrysler Dealers To Challenge Obama's Eligibility

Bob Unruh -- World Net Daily

Two lawyers, Leo Donofrio and Stephen Pidgeon, have joined forces to assemble a case challenging in U.S. bankruptcy court the federal government's use of Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to bail out Chrysler and in doing so may have created a scenario that finally will bring to a head the issue of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president. Their new case questions the authority by which the federal government and administration officials intervened in the auto industry, specifically allocating some $8 billion-plus to Chrysler, which later was forgiven. The clients in the case are former Chrysler dealers who lost their businesses as part of the "restructuring" of the automobile company. They have been damaged with the loss of their businesses, and the case alleges the Obama administration, through its use of TARP money, influenced Chrysler's outcome. Along with a bankruptcy court challenge, a "quo warranto" case is being filed in Washington, D.C., demanding to know by what authority administration officials set up the financial arrangements with Chrysler and handed out taxpayer money. As part of the demand for information about the authority used, Donofrio confirmed, there will be questions about Obama's eligibility to be president. ...

An Inconvenient Lie

Climategate: 30 Years In The Making

JoNova

PDF File AND TEXT. The story that emerges is not of a smoking gun, but of a 30-year time bomb whose fuse was lit in 1981, when -- despite only a handful of scientists supporting it -- the AGW theory was championed, without question, by the Press. However, due to AGW's shaky foundation, it was only a matter of time before the growing divergence between real-world data and the AGW climate models, which had been considered beyond reproach, became self-evident and problematic. Offending data was massaged to fit the models to stave off questions and the losses they might reveal. The data manipulation became so extreme that a CRU programmer tasked in 2006 with reproducing CRU's own published results using its own models and data was unable to do so after three years. ...

Soul Legend Teddy Pendergrass Dies At 59

Goldie Momen Putrym -- Sky News (UK)

According to his son, Teddy Pendergrass II, the former Blue Note died in a Philadelphia hospital on Wednesday after a difficult recovery from colon cancer surgery eight months ago. The R&B singer became an inspirational figure after a car accident in 1982 left him paralysed from the waist down. He returned to recording just a year later with the album Love Language and later set up the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, a non-profit organisation focussed on helping individuals with spinal cord injuries. ...

Guest Editorial:
An Open Letter To
Glenn Beck

by Stephen Pidgeon, J.D.

Dear Mr. Beck:

You are ill-informed on the "birther" issue. Barack Obama, by his own admission, was a British subject at birth. He has never denied having a Kenyan father, who himself was a British subject as a Kenyan native. This is easly established under the British Nationality Act of 1948. He is therefore disqualified to run for the office of the President, because the office is not available to subjects of other governments. The issue is very simple, and very obvious. Obama himself admitted that he wasn't a natural born citizen when he debated Alan Keyes in 2004.

Let's see you deal with this one. There is nothing "nutty" about it, and it doesn't depend on whether his maternal grandmother tried to cover up a foreign birth in Hawaii by placing newspaper notices. It is as plain as your face. BHO is a foreign national first, and an American secondarily, if at all. That is why he thinks there are 57 states; why he doesn't understand the constitution; why he wants to give us Britain's health care system (it's all in the teeth, don't you know); why he thinks Interpol should have greater authority in the US than US law enforcement; etc. He is a British subject and has no business holding the office of POTUS.

If you think you can overlook this constitutional crisis as not part of the Rubicon, you are mistaken. One constitutional overlook breeds another and the next thing you know, the financial industry is nationalized, the auto industry is nationalized, the health care industry is about to be nationalized, and the energy industry will soon be nationalized.

Ultimately, it is all going to be okay, because socialism only lasts until other people's money (OPM) runs out, and binge spender BHO has spent all the money we have and all the money we will ever have for the next several generations. He spent all of this before he got his socialist healthcare on the table. He and his wife have partied like Eddie Murphy in The Distinguished Gentleman (1992) since taking office, while he has busied himself with overthrowing the constitutional republic, establishing a new Islamic empire worldwide, disarming and crippling America, and unilaterally dividing Israel and Jerusalem. The only budget constraint for Obama is ink and paper (and he is working his way around that) and his foreign policy advisor appears to be "mirror, mirror on the wall." He has bankrupted the nation, which the sleeping Oprah watchers are now discovering for the very first time. The reality of the bankruptcy will hit home with gusto in 2010. Not only will we suffer with 30% unemployment, a complete collapse of real estate, and a complete collapse of the dollar, we will also suffer the slings and arrows of dramatic military defeats, as we let this foreigner steer the ship of state. Most Americans have no idea how bad it is going to get.

As for Obama: he will be one of history's most reviled figures -- on a par with Nero -- as a fool who couldn't even understand that when he denigrated the United States, he was destroying the very state upon which his safety and his legacy depended. He will suffer dramatic defeat in Afghanistan and Iraq -- it will not be like Viet Nam, and his name will be tarred with it. It will be more like the disastrous defeat of Xerxes at Salamis, or the Ottomans at Sisek, or the Moors at Tours; a game changing defeat that will forever cement the destiny of the republic known as the United States of America. Obama will join the other names in history who suffered cataclysmic losses in the lands of Magog.

His legacy? A communist, collectivist fool, brainwashed by red diaper doper babies haunting the halls of ivy league academia whose agenda was to bring back the failed Bolshevik revolution worldwide, who brought his fully bloomed ignorance to power illegally in the US because of the needs of his narcissistic ego, whose illegitimacy caused the US to go bankrupt and to suffer its worst military setbacks in the history of the nation in just a few short months. History will marvel at the foolishness of Americans, and historians will wonder how we as a people could have allowed this to happen. Then, of course, historians will ultimately conclude that the demise of the greatest nation the world had ever known happened because the watchdogs whose duty it was to warn Americans of such possibilities -- the so-called news media -- conspired with foreign powers and global financial criminals to destroy America from the inside, as a result of their cowardice, malevolence and silence.

Glenn Beck: a media persona who simply could not bring himself to utter the truth about Obama -- that he is a usurper, holding the presidency illegally and unconstitutionally, because he is without a legal birthright. Let us never forget who shirked their duty to tell the truth in these last hours, and let us not allow history to forget.

Stephen Pidgeon, J.D.
Attorney at Law
Everett, Washington

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

A reader who wishes to remain anonymous sent in this criticism:

Mr. March, You linked the video of Hillary Clinton having what has been referred to as an 'outburst' on your site, yet, you did not explain the context. You omitted the truth and presented the situation as another crazy Clinton moment. You not only misportrayed the situation, you lost an opportunity to share/address the plight of women who have no rights in their country. I have been a long time reader of your March Report and have shared the Report with many people. I wrote to you addressing the Clinton video and have seen no retraction or explanation. I won't be referring anyone to this page anymore. My belief and trust that you maintain objectivity and research all sides has been permanently altered recently. Consevative or not, you have always seemed to work at being fair and true to journalism. I now am seeing you differently.

Robert Jay March Responds:

This reader has mischaracterized the report. In fact, we went out of way to add clarity to the situation. The copy proved by WMAQ-TV, the televsion station which provide the report through one of our syndicators, said "A Congolese university student seems to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's." In order to portray the situation accurately, we rewrote the copy to read as follows (emphasis added): "As a result of a translator's error, a Congolese university student appears to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's. Hillary explodes, and hilarity ensues. Oh, those wacky, wacky Clintons." That was all the information that was available on August 11, 2009, when we ran the story. Witty retort aside, we went out of our way to clarify the report. Further details from the State Department and the White House did not become available until the following day.

Another reader, who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "Needles," has an unusual take on the Certifi-Gate crisis:

The birthers need to step back and consider the consequences of their actions. If Mr. Obama were to be declared ineligible, there are several possible outcomes. They could remove him from office and install Joe Biden as President. The argument would be made that if Mr. Obama was not eligible to run for President, then the ticket is invalid as well and Joe Biden should not be Vice President. The next person in the order of succession would be Speaker of the House; Nancy Pelosi. Because no eligible candidate received a majority of electoral votes, the selection of the President could be thrown into the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, would then be king-maker. The choices are Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi or someone Nancy Pelosi picks. Maybe it is best to leave the birth certificate matter alone.

Robert Jay March Responds:

Mr. Obama being declared ineligible does not legally invalidate Biden's election, provided he is qualified. Even if it did, the Constitution is too important to ignore; it is all that separates us from tyranny. Regardless of the consequences, if in fact Mr. Obama is ineligible, he must be removed. That said, all we have thus far is the preponderance of evidence leading to a likely conclusion, not conclusive facts. That is why the revelation of the long-form birth certificate is so important.

Finally, a third reader who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "unihawker," writes:

Dear Mr. March, I was watching TV the other night and they showed a clip of Obama in Kenya during his trip there during the campaign. I am not sure if it was just some Freudian slip or not, but he said as he was waiving to the people greeting him, "Thank you, it is great to be back home". My question was, If he was not born in that country why would he call it home?

Robert Jay March Responds:

Good question, for which I have no answer. If this report is correct, it is yet another contribution to the preponderance of evidence that implies Mr. Obama is ineligible. A copy of the long form birth certificate would cost Mr. Obama $12; thus far he has spent $1.3 Million to avoid producing it. As in any investigation, follow the money: in this case, what money is being spent on to conceal.
