At the request of some of our readers, discerning and literate bunch that you all are, commencing with the May 1, 2008 issue we began archiving the March Report in a form suitable for presentation. Be advised that some of the links to external sites on the archived pages will have gone dead. Morte. Kaputski. That being the case, archives will be deleted, or replaced with an image of the headline area only, as the page itself becomes useless (assuming that it wasn't to begin with, which may be presumptuous in and of itself).

Want To Make Money From A Blog? Dont Try.

Jeremy Schoemaker -- Shoemoney Media Group
One of the most frequent questions I get is, "How do you make money online from a blog?" My initial answer usually surprises them. I usually say, "Don't try." My blog existed for 2 years before I ever made any money what so ever. The blog was a hobby ... something I liked doing but was never what I considered work. I wrote the blog before anyone read it and it made no money and will do it in the future someday when nobody reads it again ...

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

This new section is the equivalent of a newspaper's "Letters to the Editor" Section. Here, we will run and respond to e-mails from those who love us and those who hate us (we don't expect to hear much from those who couldn't care less). The names attributed to the comments were the names provided by the sender. You may use a nom de plume, if you wish to remain anonymous.

First, a few of the nice ones ...

In response to his subscription to The March Report Daily Alert, Bill wrote:

M.T. posted this to our "blogged" ratings page:

Excellent overview of the news. Reports on issues others are afraid to do.

A reader who wishes to be referred to by the nom de plume "browneyedgirl" writes:

Love you Robert March! I look forward each and every day to The March Report. I love your style of writing ... straight forward and professional and love the occasional humor! Quite honestly I do not watch the MSM anymore or go to their websites ... they disgust me to no end! Now if you only had your own news show on TV...one can dream! I have told so many about your website and will continue to do so! God Bless you for all you do especially on Certifi-gate!

March Report response:

Thanks very much, belle femme brune aux yeux! As to The March Report. having our own news show on TV, that's not very likely. Given that Robert is disabled and homebound, it would have to be shot here rather than in a studio. Also, we'd probably cost whatever broadcasting or cable network who picked us up every advertiser they've got, as we are neither liberal, nor conservative, not libertarian, nor any definable category; we don't pay attention to talking points from the DNC or the RNC. Our policy is not to lie to anyone, about anything, ever. Robert's personal motto, as well as that of the entire March Report organization (vast enterprise that it is) is "Do what's right, no matter what the cost. It always costs. Do what's right anyway." Can you imagine a TV show like that? TV networks and large media organizations seems to believe, "Do what's right, unless it costs us money. Then, lie through your teeth."

Helen N posted this to our "blogged" ratings page:

Excellent alternative to the Drudge Report! At least as much info, but much more entertaining, and the presentation is much more professional

A reader who wishes to be referred to by the nom de plume "prophet" writes:

Robert, I've been receiving your report for only a couple of months but I find it very interesting and highly informative with facts, not lies. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of ranting now and then.

March Report response:

You're very welcome, and feel free to write anytime. We actually read all of your e-mails, whether they agree with us or not. We'd also like to hear if there are any ares of coverage you'd like to see that we're not doing now. We're not promising you'll like what we say on a given issue, but we'll cover it if we're are able.

Ursula S. posted this to our "blogged" ratings page:

It is my opinion that tabloids have become more credible as a source of news than high profile and national news agencies of ALL types in our country. These newspapers, news stations, internet, etc. seem to have abandoned any journalistic ethic or human decency in their reporting. They seem to be held accountable for nothing while the tabloids can get sued. The March Report is a refreshing break from the daily onslaught of the simplistic propaganda that seems to imply that Americans are all idiots. It is filled with critical thinking! (Do we remember what that looks like in print?!). Facts are allowed to be followed bipartisanly. That means that a fact has one side. Once a fact is established we do not have to confuse the issue with presenting "both" sides. The March Report is a credible source of news!

Not everyone loves us, though. Janel wrote:

Seriously; You guys have crossed over!!!! You are now officially out of your collective freakin' minds!!!!!!

Marchesa sent this, apparently in response to our Certifi-Gate coverage:

The enemy does not want to see this man of God in the position of President of the United States. But the Psalms say that promotion comes from God. I think that it is fit that God silence the mouths of the adversary and bring their false words and accusations to naught and render them void and without substance. That is how I am praying.

Olivia from Sugar Hill, GA wrote a long one, full of mis-information. We will respond below her e-mail:

Well sir, I hope you can find it in your "fair and balanced" view to share this email with other readers, as you seem to like to mock or ridicule your opposition. I hope that my proper use of American English is not dismissed for an occasional misspelled word or use of popular vernacular.
I personally don't feel that you are racist per se; especially since you have identified yourself to be an African-American man. I can easily see this in the fact that you have something very much in common with many other African-Americans; it's called the "conspiracy theory syndrome." However, I don't believe that you are self-less in your efforts; that would be a little too gullible of a judgment. No, I believe that you are much more akin to the politics of Sarah Palin. The correct terminology would be "opportunist," and fortunately (or not for you), all good things must come to an end. Your so-called "Cerifi-Gate" scandal has ended, and did sometime ago when it was dismissed by the Courts. Now, I am no Constitutional Scholar, but I can read, something you apparently didn't expect the readers of your blog to do.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is probably best that you move on to other news since your blog has not been picked up, nor endorsed by any major news affiliate, nor purchased by any company. It is probably because your online insults directed towards those who disagree with you is so "yesterday's news." Your so-called editorials are very reminiscent of an eighth-graders rant on a playground. It is time for you to get a real job and move out of your mother's basement. Now that we have a new president, that would be President Elect Barak H. Obama, your opportunities for employment have just improved.

March Report response:

Where to begin, as virtually every sentence in Olivia's e-mail is incorrect.
Robert Jay March NEVER, EVER claimed to be African-American; he said he is racially mixed; specifically, part Oriental, going back several generations.
She suggests we are "opportunists," comparing us to a political figure that she envisions as being the same. Exactly what opportunity is it that she imagines we are seeking? Mr. March owns two businesses, belongs to NO political party, and will never run for political office. He could never win if he did, as he judges each issue on the merits rather than on party talking points, and holds views that would infuriate the left, right, and center simultaneously.
The Certifi-Gate issue itself has never been dismissed by any court; those individual cases that were dismissed were dismissed on the basis of "lack of standing," "lack of jurisdiction," or "failure to show harm." In other words, the courts were afraid to take it on, and dismissed on a Rube Goldberg technicality.
She claims, "your blog has not been picked up, nor endorsed by any major news affiliate, nor purchased by any company." I don't know where she gets her information from, but if she paid for it, she'd better get a refund. The March Report has syndication arrangements with over 300 major media outlets, and is not for sale at any price.
She also says, "It is time for you to get a real job and move out of your mother's basement." Robert Jay March has two jobs, working between 100 to 120 hours per week seven days a week, despite being disabled and homebound for seven years. He is the President of two companies, owns his own home, and, despite his own disability, took care of his disabled mother personally and at his own expense for 32 years until she died peacefully at the age of 80, while raising a daughter alone.
We are perfectly comfortable listening to and evaluating criticism, provided it is based on fact. Most of the criticism sent here has been sent by those who have never even bothered reading The March Report, using the techniques popularized by Marxist Saul Alinsky, particulary Rule Five of his Rules for Radicals: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage," and Rule Six, "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." He should have added, "Get your facts straight first."
Yes, we use ridicule in our responses, but only towards those who have used it against us first. The difference in our approach is, WE tell the truth. Perhaps you should try it, Olivia.

A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story Of The Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama And The Mainstream Media

Regnery Publishing

Do the mainstream media have a liberal bias? Sure they do, everyone knows that, says CBS veteran and New York Times bestselling author Bernard Goldberg. But the media crossed an important line in the 2008 presidential race, moving from their usual unthinking liberal bias to crass partisanship of the crudest kind, practically acting as spin doctors for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. In A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media his most provocative book yet, Goldberg demonstrates how the media launched an unparalleled effort to ensure the election of the man they regarded as The One. From the thrill Obama sent up Chris Matthews' leg to the outrageously slanted "news" reports of the New York Times, Goldberg shows in exacting detail how the media, abandoning even the pretense of objectivity, moved from media bias to media activism.
Never in my memory were so many journalists so intent on effecting change as they were during the campaign of 2008. Sure, mainstream journalists always root for the Democrat. But this time it was different. This time journalists were not satisfied merely being partisan witnesses to history. This time they wanted to be real players and help determine the outcome. This time they were on a mission, a noble, historic mission, as far as they were concerned. In fact, I could not remember a time when so many supposedly objective reporters had acted so blatantly as full-fledged advocates for one side--and without even a hint of embarrassment. ...

DVD

Iron Man (Ultimate Two-Disc Edition + BD Live) [Blu-Ray]

Reviewed by Robert Horton

You know you're going to get a different kind of superhero when you cast Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role. And Iron Man is different, in welcome ways. Cleverly updated from Marvel Comics' longstanding series, Iron Man puts billionaire industrialist Tony Stark (that's Downey) in the path of some Middle Eastern terrorists; in a brilliantly paced section, Stark invents an indestructible suit that allows him to escape. If the rest of the movie never quit hits that precise rhythm again, it nevertheless offers plenty of pleasure, as the renewed Stark swears off his past as a weapons manufacturer, develops his new Iron Man suit, and puzzles both his business partner (Jeff Bridges in great form) and executive assistant (Gwyneth Paltrow). Director Jon Favreau geeks out in fun ways with the hardware, but never lets it overpower the movie, and there's always a goofy one-liner or a slapstick pratfall around to break the tension. As for Downey, he doesn't get to jitterbug around too much in his improv way, but he brings enough of his unpredictable personality to keep the thing fresh ...

The Rape Of Europa

Actual Films in association with Agon Arts & Entertainment/Oregon Public Broadcasting

When The Rape of Europa was released theatrically last year, this is how Variety reviewed it, in Variety-speak:
Bringing a radically new perspective to World War II and the Holocaust, this fast-paced docu, based on Lynn Nicholas' bestseller about the fate of European art both under the Nazis and afterward, casts the Third Reich in a wholly different light. Curiously, by narrowing focus, filmmakers widen the absurdity and horror of a war waged, at least in part, for a mon-strously inflated private agenda. This mesmerizing morality play, rich in rare archival footage and complete with heroic Allied saviors, merits a full-fledged arthouse run before reaching larger PBS and cable auds ...

The Stendhal Syndrome

DVD Review

Dario Argento has been one of the celebrated masters of Italian horror cinema since the 1970s, but his directorial output since the late 1980s has been largely disappointing to fans of gialli, a horror sub-genre of lurid, graphically violent murder mysteries drawn from pulp fiction. It seems that he has never quite been able to measure up to the frenzied terror or outrageous shocks of his early masterpieces like "Deep Red" and "Suspiria." While it is true that his films from the last two decades have left much to be desired in terms of style, terror, and interest, his 1996 thriller The Stendhal Syndrome deserves more recognition than it receives. A stylistic and psychological departure for Argento, it is perhaps among the most sophisticated movies he has ever directed ...

Part 56 Of Certifi-Gate, Our Special Report On Barack Obama's Legal Eligibility To Serve As President Of The United States

Robert Jay March -- March Report
The American Revolution was based on the credo of "No Taxation without Representation." Yet, as a legally-unqualified faux-President is about to be sworn in, court after court after court have told us that we have "no standing" to demand that the man who presumes to lead us prove that he is legally eligible to do so.
Everyone assumes that the The Constitution grants The Supreme Court the authority of final arbitration as to what is and is not Constitutional, but nothing could be further from the truth; The Constitution says nothing of the sort. It was not until 1801, in the case of Marbury v. Madison, that Chief Justice John Marshall made a bold power-grab that stands until this day, being the first to declare something "unconstitutional."
When the 16th amendment (the "Income Tax" Amendment) was first debated, there was a call to include a 10% maximum rate in the Amendment; that was shot down, for fear that it would imply that the tax might someday be permitted to rise to that "ungodly" level. We all know what has happened since. Similarly, when the Constitution was first drafted, it was assumed that it would be obvious to everyone that any questions of Constitutionality would be decided by a joint session of Congress. It was so obvious, that it was never encoded into law. That left Marshall his opening, and he grabbed it.
Bad cases make bad law, and Marbury v. Madison, was a bad case. The problem is, after the 17th Amendment, which provided for the election of Senators by popular vote, rather than being appointed by State Governors, the Senate has become just as politicized as the House of Representatives. Thus, we would be even worse off if the founders original, unencoded vision persisted. Even Alexander Hamilton struggled with this, as he described in
The Federalist Papers No. 78: "If it be said that the legislative body are themselves the constitutional judges of their own powers, and that the construction they put upon them is conclusive upon the other departments, it may be answered, that this cannot be the natural presumption, where it is not to be collected from any particular provisions in the Constitution. [emphasis added] It is not otherwise to be supposed, that the Constitution could intend to enable the representatives of the people to substitute their will to that of their constituents. It is far more rational to suppose, that the courts were designed to be an intermediate body between the people and the legislature, in order, among other things, to keep the latter within the limits assigned to their authority. The interpretation of the laws is the proper and peculiar province of the courts. A constitution is, in fact, and must be regarded by the judges, as a fundamental law. It, therefore, belongs to them to ascertain its meaning, as well as the meaning of any particular act proceeding from the legislative body. If there should happen to be an irreconcilable variance between the two, that which has the superior obligation and validity ought, of course, to be preferred; or, in other words, the Constitution ought to be preferred to the statute, the intention of the people to the intention of their agents."
Yet, our current Supreme Court appears to be made up of weasels unable to live up to this sacred duty. In case after case after case wherein Obama's eligibility has been challenged, they've ducked the issue. Contrary to press reports, that matter is not dead, nor has it even been ruled on. There are several cases pending, awaiting the Nine Supremes in their unaccesorized black gowns summoning the spirit of the late Rube Goldberg to come up with yet another reason not to rule.
Paraphrasing Jerome Horowitz, better known as "Curly Howard" of the Three Stooges, "I'm a victim of circumstance," that circumstance being the cowardice of anyone and everyone in authority to deal with this matter one way or the other. Either he's qualified or not, and everyone who would be ruled by this "President" has standing.
I've been toying with an idea. Given that, according to the most recent poll, over 50% of us believe that there is something suspect about Obama's eligibility, what if we ALL withheld our Federal taxes. I'm not saying don't pay them. I'm saying, what if we held them in escrow, refusing to turn them over to the Federal Government until such time as Obama proves he is legally qualified to serve as POTUS.
Read that again. I'm NOT saying, "Let's do this." I'm saying, "Let's discuss this." I don't know if this is a good idea or not. I'd love to hear from a few lawyers as to how this could be made to work, while minimizing legal jeopardy to everyone participating, in order to get maximum participation. After all, it's not as if they can prosecute 151,912,320 of us.
Things that make you go hmmmmmmm...

Supreme Court Accountablity

Lonnie Leczo -- Washington Times
I stand amazed at what I am witnessing in our constitutional republic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Constitution the rule of law in this nation? Don't Supreme Court judges take oaths promising to protect and uphold that Constitution from foreign and domestic enemies? If our laws are derived from this text, then what is it called when those laws are ignored? It is called, "breaking the law." ...

A "Call to Arms" as Attacks Against The March Report Continue.
In a previous column, I mentioned the we had come under attack by powerful, politically-connected forces in Chicago. Now, they've gone after our newsletter, in an effort to shut us down. Last July, when we started The March Report Daily Alert newsletter as an adjunct to the MarchReport.com website, we started with a few readers and quickly grew to over 400,000 double-opt-in subscribers. Now, months later, all of a sudden we're being hit with false spamming complaints. Major internet portals that had "white-listed" us months ago are now blocking delivery. If you are a subscriber, and your newsletters have stopped coming, that's why. If you are a Hotmail user who's been sending e-mails to us and have gotten no reply back, that's why.
We will not be silenced. We need your help in turning back this assault. If your newsletters have stopped coming, complain to your ISP. Tell them that you want The March Report Daily Alert newsletter to be delivered to you. If you have a blog or website, please link to us. If you read or participate in a blog, please ask them to link to us, and, where appropriate, leave comments to stories on their sites containing links to related material on MarchReport.com. Please tell everyone you know who is interested in the future of our country about The March Report. Ask them to read us every day, and subscribe to our newsletter. Contact your local media and ask them to do stories about this situation. The best way to show these would-be despots that they cannot shut us down is with a spurt of growth, right in their faces.
Despite my disability and being unable to leave my home, I work from 100 to 120 hours per week. I have never taken a penny of government money, or charity from anyone, and I never will, but the costs associated with this assault are starting to mount up, so, if and only if you are able, please make a donation of any amount you are comfortable with, no matter how small, to help defray expenses connected with production of The March Report.
