Inspired By Dante, It's The Year's Most Hyped Novel: "Da Vinci Code" Author Dan Brown's New Epic

A.N. Wilson -- Daily Mail (UK)

With his new book, "Inferno." Dan Brown returns to Italy, and to the semi-religious themes he seems to love. This time he has been inspired by the country's great medieval poet Dante and his vision of Hell. "The Bible states there's an underworld, and it hints that it might not be a very nice place, but it wasn't until the 1300s and this vision of Inferno that it became terrifying." Its villain, who commits suicide on page one, is obsessed with Dante, and that is why the book is called Inferno. A mad scientist called Zobrist, he thinks that the world has become so overpopulated that it is only a step away from descending into Dante's vision of Hell. So he leaves a clue written on the back of Dante's famous death-mask in the Chamber of the 500 in Florence, for example. There are also clues in Florence's Baptistery, and in the Cathedral of St Mark in Venice. The first clue left by Zobrist is contained in a Botticelli painting of Dante's Hell. He has slightly altered it, putting Langdon on the alert and leading him to the next clue. Langdon slowly comes to realize that Zobrist has the belief that this tormented world will become a safer place only when at least a third of the population is culled. The Black Death, Zobrist believes, is the best thing that ever happened to Europe because it took away a lot of hungry mouths and made Europe more prosperous. After the Black Death came the Renaissance, he points out, and its accompanying great flowering of artistic and literary talent. So Zobrist has put a slowly dissolving plastic bag... somewhere! Does it contain the deadliest virus known to man? Langdon comes to believe so. He and his beautiful companion arrive in a Venice swarming with tourists and believe the bag is hidden in the lagoon.

Former Nixon Aide Claims He Has Evidence Lyndon B. Johnson Arranged John F. Kennedy's Assassination

Damian Ghigliotty -- Daily Mail (UK)

Renowned Republican strategist and lobbyist Roger Stone makes that claim in his upcoming book to be published by Skyhorse Publishing in October: "The Man who killed Kennedy: the case against LBJ". Stone also writes that Richard Nixon and Johnson had a documented relationship with Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald's killer, years before he shot Oswald in the basement of Dallas police headquarters in 1963. Stone claims that Johnson "micro-managed" Kennedy's Dallas motorcade, demanding that it pass through Dealy Plaza on November 22, 1963, the notorious day when Oswald shot Kennedy from the overlooking book depository building.

The Unsolved Mystery Of The Van Meter Visitor: A Winged Creature With A Glowing Horn That Caused Terror In An Iowa Town 110 Years Ago

David McCormack -- Daily Mail (UK)

A bizarre legend and unsolved mystery which has haunted a small Iowa town for more than 100 years is the subject of a new book called "The Van Meter Visitor: A True and Mysterious Encounter with the Unknown." For several nights in 1903, the small town of Van Meter, Iowa was terrorized by a giant bat-like creature that emerged from an old abandoned mine. The identity of this mysterious monster has never been discovered, but over 100 years later a new book is retelling the amazing tale and hoping to shed some light on what happened all those years ago. The legend dates back to the fall of 1903, when several of Van Meter's most well respected citizens reported a half human, half animal with enormous, smooth bat wings flying about. The creature is described as moving at speeds the townsfolk had never witnessed before, plus it let off a powerful stench and shot a blinding light from its horned head.

Infrared Tests Show Shroud Of Turin May NOT Be A Medieval Fake After All, And Could Have Been Used To Wrap Christ's Body

Nicholas Pisa -- Daily Mail (UK)

For centuries scientists have argued about the authenticity of the Shroud, which is kept in a secure vault in Turin Cathedral, and it has become one of the most iconic images of the Roman Catholic faith. The 14ft-long linen cloth bears the faint image of the front and back of a tall, long-haired, bearded man and appears to be stained by blood from wounds in his feet, wrists and sides that match those suffered by Christ at his Crucifixion. The findings are in a new book called "Il mistero della Sindone" ("The Mystery of the Shroud") which is published on Good Friday. The authors, Professor Giulio Fanti, an expert in mechanical and thermal measurement at the University of Padua's Engineering Faculty and journalist Saverio Gaeta, examined fibres from the Shroud and compared them to samples of cloth dating back to between 3000BC and up to the modern era to contrast them and see if it is a Medieval forgery.

Read An Excerpt From Paul Anka's Book, "My Way: An Autobiography"

Daily Mail (UK)

A teen idol of the 1950s who virtually invented the singer/songwriter/heartthrob combination that still tops pop music today, Paul Anka rocketed to fame with a slew of hits-from "Diana" to "Put Your Head on my Shoulder"-that earned him a place touring with the major stars of his era, including Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly. He wrote Holly's last hit, and just missed joining the rocker on his final, fatal plane flight. Anka also stepped in front of the camera in the teen beach-party movie era, scoring the movies and romancing their starlets, including Annette Funicello. "My Way: An Autobiography" is bursting with rich, rollicking stories of the business and the people in Anka's life: Elizabeth Taylor, Dodi Fayed, Tom Jones, Michael Jackson, Adnan Khashoggi, Little Richard, Brooke Shields, Johnny Roselli, Sammy Davis, Jr., Brigitte Bardot, Barnum & Bailey Circus acrobats, and many more. Anka is forthcoming, funny and smart as a whip about the business he's been in for almost six decades.

Just-Deciphered 1,200-Year-Old Egyptian Manuscript Claims Jesus Was A Shape-Shifter

Damien Gayle -- Daily Mail (UK)

A 1,200-year-old Egyptian manuscript tells the story of the crucifixion with incredible plot twists, including the revelation that Jesus could change shape. The ancient illuminated text's claim explains why Judas used a kiss to betray Jesus, since the Christian Messiah had the ability to transform his appearance. It also claims Jesus in fact spent his last supper with the man who ordered his execution, Roman prefect Pontius Pilate, who is said to have offered to sacrifice his own son in Jesus' place. And it defies the official Easter timeline by putting the day of Jesus' arrest on Tuesday evening, rather than the canonically agreed Thursday. The translation from the original Coptic has been revealed for the first time in a new book by Roelof van den Broek, emeritus professor of the History of Christianity at Utrecht University in the Netherlands: "Pseudo-Cyril of Jerusalem on the Life and the Passion of Christ: A Coptic Apocryphon (Supplements to Vigiliae Christianae: Texts and Studies of Early Christian Life and Language)"

Excerpt Of: "Roger Ailes Off Camera"

Zev Chafets -- Vanity Fair

Roger Ailes is one of the most powerful-and controversial-characters in television media, pilloried by critics and many in the mainstream media and lionized by conservative viewers who can't get enough of his posse of charismatic hosts. His Fox News was accused of being the "communications arm of the Republican Party" in 2010 by then White House communications director Anita Dunn and has been criticized by Barack Obama himself (criticism that Ailes publicly countered with gusto, claiming the president "just has a different belief system from most Americans"). But as outspoken as the Fox News chief may be, little is known about Ailes the man-an extraordinarily private and security-conscious person who once personally safety-tested the thickness of the glass at the network's Manhattan studios. This year, the veil is pulled back by a biography written with Ailes's cooperation, by award-winning columnist and author Zev Chafets. Chafets was given unprecedented access to the man himself, as well as his friends, family, and colleagues. What resulted from theis effort was a series of intimate encounters that have made their way into the book, showing the world from Ailes's perspective. Herein is an adaptation of Chafets's book, "Roger Ailes: Off Camera," to be published later this month by Penguin Sentinel, in which several of these private moments are detailed-including one famous face-off with the president.

"Let Me Out Of My Coffin, I'm Still Alive": New Book Reveals Spine-Chilling True Stories Of Premature Burial

Annabel Venning -- Daily Mail (UK)

Video AND TEXT. Mary Best was 17 years old when she contracted cholera in India. All alone since her adoptive mother left the country some months earlier, Mary suffered hours of agonising stomach cramps and sickness, her pulse becoming weaker and weaker until, at last, the doctor pronounced her dead. She was buried in the vault of her adoptive family a few hours later, in the French cemetery in Calcutta. The year was 1871, and cholera victims were generally buried very soon after death to prevent the germs spreading. In India's tropical heat, a rapid burial was all the more necessary. Nobody questioned Mary's hasty interment. But ten years later, when the vault was opened to admit the body of Mary's newly deceased uncle by adoption, the undertaker and his assistant were greeted by a horrifying sight. The lid of Mary's coffin, which had been nailed down, was on the floor. The girl's skeleton was half in, half out of the coffin, and the right side of her skull bore a large, ugly fracture. The fingers of her right hand were bent as if clutching at something, perhaps her throat, and her clothes were torn. Mary, it seemed, had not been dead when she was nailed into a coffin, but merely unconscious. This is one of the horrific true stories in "Premature Burial: How It May Be Prevented."

From LBJ To Nixon To Obama, Why The White House May "Regret" Hassling The Press

Tevi Troy -- Washington Post

Tevi Troy, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, was a senior adviser to President George W. Bush. He is the author of the forthcoming "What Jefferson Read, Ike Watched, and Obama Tweeted: 200 Years of Popular Culture in the White House." Gene Sperling has reserved for himself a special place in Washington lore. In the days leading up to the sequester deadline Friday, the city found itself immersed in a bizarre debate over whether Sperling, an economic adviser to President Obama and a Clinton administration veteran, tried to intimidate The Washington Post's Bob Woodward by suggesting in an e-mail that Woodward would "regret" his writings about the president's fiscal policy proposals. Though the full e-mail message, once leaked, ended up reading far more chummy than threatening -- it was virtually "e-kissed," as one reporter put it -- the spat, quickly dubbed "Woodwardgate," had a compelling historical symmetry to it. The very notion of a senior White House adviser possibly attempting to intimidate an enterprising reporter smacked of exactly the kind of arrogance that Woodward himself uncovered decades ago in his exposes of Richard Nixon's presidency.

JFK Secretly Freed Rapists, Drug Dealers And Mafia Hitmen To Kill Castro And Curb Threat Of Communism, Claims Explosive New Book

Matt Blake -- Daily Mail (UK)

At the height of tensions between America and neighboring Communist Cuba in the early 1960s, JFK was implicit in the freeing of rapists, drug dealers, and Mafia hitmen through CIA in a bid to recruit "untraceable" spies willing to risk their lives on dangerous missions rather than go back to jail, a new book sensationally claims. Desperate to remove Castro from power, the president resorted to using dangerous criminals as operatives -- rather than CIA agents -- to "do America's dirty work" as they couldn't be linked back to his administration, it is claimed. In one failed plot, an ex con was smuggled into Cuba in 1962 to pose as a waiter in Castro's favorite restaurant where he would drop poison tablets into the revolutionary leader's soup. The explosive claims come in a new book by veteran American Journalist and author William Deane, "Smooth Criminal: A One-Man American Crime Wave,"who claims specially-recruited criminals became "untouchable" and were allowed to embark on 'crime sprees' in the US without fear of prosecution.

How Tom Cruise's Cult "Controlled His Love Life" Claims A Book On His Links To Scientology

Tom Leonard -- Daily Mail (UK)

They grew him a wild flower meadow in the desert where he and Nicole Kidman could frolic hand-in-hand. They salute him and call him "sir." And when he needed a new woman in his life, they "auditioned" dozens of actresses for the role. The extraordinary lengths to which the Church of Scientology has allegedly gone to woo Tom Cruise are detailed in a controversial new book which contrasts his demi-god status in the organization with the miserable existence of its rank-and-file devotees. To outsiders, it has always seemed odd that the squeaky-clean Hollywood superstar has lavished praise on the "church" as a force for good in the world, when a growing number of ex-members have portrayed it as a ruthless and exploitative cult that rules its brainwashed flock with a rod of iron. Now a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Lawrence Wright has painted a withering portrait of an organization which has always seen celebrity endorsement as essential to its mystique. In "Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief," Wright claims that Scientology boss David Miscavige succeeded in cultivating Cruise as a spiritual leader of his movement after he became Hollywood's biggest star with films such as "Top Gun" and "Mission: Impossible." Cruise, in turn, willingly became the church's smiling public face, ploughing millions of dollars into its work and even attempting to lobby foreign leaders to advance its dubious cause around the world.

Anna Wintour: The Devil's No Diplomat!

Jane Ridley -- New York Post

Visiting then-First Lady Hillary Clinton at 1600 Pennyslvania Ave. in the 1990s, Anna Wintour couldn't help herself. She stuffed a pile of White House letterhead notepaper and envelopes into her Prada handbag, and gave the distinctive stationery to her family as "been there, done that" souvenirs. It's the sort of prank you might expect from social-climbing desperate housewife Jill Kelley on a private West Wing tour, not the fashion veteran who is rumored to be on President Obama's shortlist for US ambassador to the UK, or possibly France. "It kind of underscores her political knowledge or lack thereof," says Manhattan-based writer Jerry Oppenheimer, who described the bizarre incident in his unauthorized biography of Wintour, "Front Row: Anna Wintour: What Lies Beneath the Chic Exterior of Vogue's Editor in Chief." Oppenheimer is among a number of critics who find it absurd to think that Wintour, once famously nicknamed "Nuclear Wintour," might become a key diplomat. ...

Kirstie Alley Tells All: Secret Romance With Patrick Swayze, Calls John Travolta "Greatest Love"

Vanessa Weber -- ABC News (US)

Video AND TEXT. From "Dancing With the Stars" to her famously fluctuating weight, Kirstie Alley is a woman who loves to reinvent herself and isn't afraid to tell all. Her latest disclosure: a secret romance with Patrick Swayze. The co-stars fell in love working on the movie "North and South," Alley said, and Swayze wanted Alley to get a divorce from her husband and marry him, but Alley wouldn't do it. "I probably was more willing to break up my marriage, and I wasn't willing to break up his marriage," Alley told ABC News' Barbara Walters, in an interview about her new book, "The Art of Men (I Prefer Mine al Dente)," which details her ups and downs in life and in love. Alley's acting career took off, and her love of Hollywood men did not end with Swayze. After a wildly successful run on "Cheers," Alley signed on to do a film with John Travolta about a talking baby: 1989's "Look Who's Talking" and love bloomed. Alley and Travolta made two successful sequels and became lifelong friends. The actress dashed the rumors that Travolta is gay.

Bin Laden Raid Tell-All Author Revealed, Questions Raised Whether Ex-Navy Seals Have Freedom Of Speech

Justin Fishel -- FOX News

The author of a recently announced insider account of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden has been identified as a 36-year-old former Navy SEAL Team 6 member from Alaska who also played a role in the high-profile rescue of an American captain kidnapped by Somali pirates. The book, "No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden," is set to hit shelves on Sept 11. It is penned under the pseudonym "Mark Owen," according to the publisher, but multiple sources told Fox News his name is in fact Matt Bissonnette, 36, of Wrangell, Alaska. Bissonnette could be exposing himself to legal trouble, as the Pentagon has not vetted the account. The tell-all book also has apparently upset a large population of former and current SEAL members who worry about releasing information that could compromise future missions. One Navy SEAL told Fox News, "How do we tell our guys to stay quiet when this guy won't?" Other SEALs are expressing anger, with some going so far as to call him a "traitor."

Master Forger Comes Clean About Tricks That Fooled Art World For Four Decades

Dalya Alberge -- Guardian (UK)

An extraordinary memoir is to reveal how a gifted artist managed to forge his way to riches by conning high-profile auctioneers, dealers and collectors over four decades. The book, "Caveat Emptor: The Secret Life of an American Art Forger." tells the story of Ken Perenyi, an American who lived in London for 30 years. The revelations within it are likely to spark embarrassment on both sides of the Atlantic. Perhaps Perenyi's proudest moment came when a forgery of "Ruby Throats with Apple Blossoms," by the American 19th-century artist Martin Johnson Heade, made the front page of a national newspaper and was heralded as a major "discovery." It later fetched nearly $100,000 at auction in New York. Claiborne Hancock, of Pegasus Books, describes the revelations in Caveat Emptor as "a bombshell for the major international auction houses and galleries."

Nun's Book On Masturbation Slammed By Vatican

Agence France-Presse (FR)

The Vatican slammed a "sexual morality" book written by an American Catholic nun on Monday, warning believers to stay away from the tome which justifies masturbation, homosexuality and divorce. Margaret Farley's 2006 book "Just Love: A Framework for Christian Sexual Ethics" "affirms positions that are in direct contradiction with Catholic teaching in the field of sexual morality," the Vatican said in a statement. Farley, a member of the Sisters of Mercy and professor emerita at Yale Divinity School, expressed support for a long list of sins in the eyes of the Church. "Masturbation usually does not raise any moral questions at all. It is surely the case that many women have found great good in self-pleasuring... (which) actually serves relationships rather than hindering them," she wrote. On the issue of homosexuality, the prominent theologian said "same-sex relationships and activities can be justified according to the same sexual ethic as heterosexual relationships and activities" and "should be respected."

Holder, Axelrod Nearly Engaged In White House Fisticuffs

Jamie Weinstein -- Daily Caller

Attorney General Eric Holder nearly came to blows with political strategist David Axelrod after a Cabinet meeting in the White House, according to a new book by a Newsweek investigative reporter. In Daniel Klaidman's "Kill or Capture: The War on Terror and the Soul of the Obama Presidency," Klaidman tells of a heated exchange between the two that almost turned physical in the West Wing. Klaidman writes that Axelrod, then Obama's senior adviser, was "incensed" because he had heard that "Holder and his aides were spreading the word that he was trying to improperly influence the Justice Department." "Axelrod, who knew all too well that even the hint of White House meddling with Justice Department investigations could detonate a full-blown scandal, had been careful not to come close to that line," Klaidman writes. So after a Cabinet meeting ended, Axelrod apparently made a "beeline for the attorney general." "'Don't ever, ever accuse me of trying to interfere with the operations of the Justice Department,' he warned Holder after confronting him in the hallway," according to Klaidman's account.

Bill Clinton Calls Obama An "Amateur" In New Book

Carl Campanile -- New York Post

Bill Clinton thought so little of President Obama -- mocking him as an "amateur" -- that he pressed his wife last summer to quit her job as secretary of state and challenge him in the primaries, a new book claims. "The country needs you!" the former president told Hillary Clinton, urging her to run this year, according to accounts of the conversation included in Edward Klein's new biography of Obama. The title of Klein's explosive, unauthorized bio of Obama, "The Amateur" (Regnery Publishing), was taken directly from Bill Clinton's bombshell criticism of the president, the author said. "Barack Obama," Bill Clinton said, according to book excerpts, "is an amateur." The withering criticism is incredible, given the fact that Bill Clinton is actively campaigning for Obama's re-election.

Tens Of Thousands Of Demonstrators March Through Brazil City Streets In Widespread Anger Over Government Corruption

Reuters

The marches, organized mostly through snowballing social media campaigns, blocked streets and halted traffic in more than a half-dozen cities, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, where demonstrators swarmed past the Congress and Presidential Palace. While peaceful, and unfolding mostly as a festive display of dissent, Monday's demonstrations were the latest in a flurry of protests over the past two weeks that have added to unease over Brazil's sluggish economy, high inflation and a spurt in violent crime.

Among the dead was a newly elected lawmaker who may have been the target, authorities said. The blast was the deadliest attack in the region since May 11 national and regional elections installed a new government in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The carnage poses a challenge for cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, whose party won the provincial election there on a platform of negotiating with the Pakistani Taliban to bring an end to the years of fighting and attacks there. The bombing in the village of Sher Garh near the city of Mardan killed 27 people and wounded at least 57, said a senior police officer in Mardan, Tahir Ayub Khan. ...

YEST Iranian "Moderate" Hasan Rowhani Could Be Part Of Nuke Strategy, Say Experts

Lisa Daftari -- Fox News

The victory of a so-called "moderate" cleric in Iran's presidential elections may ultimately prove disappointing to those hoping for a thaw in the Islamic Republic's relations with the West. Hasan Rowhani won 50.7 percent of the 37 million votes counted in Friday's election, according to the Interior Ministry, prompting Iranians to celebrate in the streets and some international observers to see reason for hope the nation might temper its defiant diplomatic stance toward the U.S. and Europe. Rowhani, the only cleric in the six-man field, is considered moderate relative to his hard-line rivals, all hand-picked by the country's Guardian Council, a panel of hawkish clerics entrusted to maintain the values of the Islamic Republic. But a closer look at Rowhani's resume reveals a history of advancing the agenda of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. As secretary to the National Security Council for 16 years and top nuclear negotiator from 2003 to 2005, Rowhani was the face of Iran's diplomatic duplicity, often publicly pledging cooperation with nuclear inspectors even as the nation continued its intransigence. ...

YEST Why Wendi Deng, Rupert Murdoch's Wife, Will Not Go Quietly

Neil Chenoweth -- Australian Financial Review (AU)

Two days before shares in his new split empire begin trading on Wednesday, Rupert Murdoch is facing an existential threat to his control of the global media monolith he has built over 60 years. Challenges loom on many fronts -- demerger problems, ongoing U.S. and U.K. criminal inquiries, and the departure of long-time C.F.O. David DeVoe, the last member of Murdoch's inner circle of advisers who have stood beside him for two decades; but there's no question where the real danger lies. How hard will Deng fight in this divorce? Consider her iconic moment two years ago, when she won worldwide applause for her response when a cream pie was thrown at Rupert Murdoch during a U.K. parliamentary committee. Within two seconds of seeing the pie-thrower, Jonathon May-Bowles, Deng had popped him with a swinging right. Consider the arc that has brought Wendi Deng to this point. She leveraged herself from a two-room apartment home, to school, to a better school, then a better college, to a degree in California, through a brief marriage, to a Yale MBA, a job at Star, and then consort for 14 years to one of the most powerful men in the world. Is she going to fade into obscurity as Anna Murdoch has done? When has Wendi Deng ever stepped back from a challenge? Going quietly will only entrench the power of Murdoch's adult children at the expense of her own. How much leverage does she have? As the keeper of Murdoch's secrets, she could make life unbearable for him: and that's before any thought of getting him into court as a witness facing more vigorous cross-examination than he faced at the Leveson Inquiry last year. ...

China's Tianhe-2 Retakes Fastest Supercomputer Crown, Knocking U.S. Off Its Perch

BBC News (UK)

A China-based supercomputer has leapfrogged rivals to be named the world's most powerful system. Tianhe-2, developed by the government-run National University of Defence Technology, topped the latest list of the fastest 500 supercomputers, by a team of international researchers. They said the news was a "surprise" since the system had not been expected to be ready until 2015. The latest version of the twice-yearly list -- which is overseen by Hans Meuer, professor of computer science at the University of Mannheim -- was published to coincide with the International Supercomputing Conference in Leipzig, Germany. According to the Linpack benchmark, Tianhe-2 -- meaning Milky Way-2 -- operates at 33.86 petaflop/sec, the equivalent of 33,860 trillion calculations per second. ...

New Protein Found To Stop Cancer's Spread

Loren Grush -- Fox News

Researchers have found a critical element that may explain why some cancers spread farther and faster than others, a discovery that could lead to one of the Holy Grails of cancer treatment: containing the disease. Scientists from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine have identified a protein that seems to serve as a switch, regulating the spread of cancer from the primary tumor to distant spots in the body: a process known as metastasis. The protein is used by embryo cells during early development, but then disappears from the body after an individual comes out of the womb. According to the researchers, the protein was only found in people with metastatic cancer, leading them to belive that the regulation of this protein could potentially stop the dangerous progression of this killer disease. ...

YEST Pioneering Photojournalist Helen Brush Jenkins Dies At 94

Valerie J. Nelson -- Los Angeles Times

With a click of the camera pressed against her forehead, the photojournalist broke ground in a way her male colleagues never could. As a female news photographer, she had been a pioneering presence at the old Los Angeles Daily News since the early 1940s when she was hired because so many cameramen were away at war. YEST BBC Documentary Claims Uri Geller Was A Secret C.I.A. Spy. The Really Mind-Boggling Part: It Might Just Be True

Tom Leonard -- Daily Mail (UK)

Best known as a spoon-bender who befriended singer Michael Jackson -- and branded a charlatan by critics -- it now appears that Uri Geller may have had a second career as a C.I.A. spy. According to a new BBC documentary, he used his psychic powers in an attempt to wipe secret Soviet computer records. It is alleged he also tried to disable military radar and influence the mind of a Russian negotiator during Cold War arms talks in Geneva by beaming peace messages at his head. The Israeli-born showman's life has been littered with outrageous claims. Over the years, his tricks have baffled scientists and enraged his rivals. Now, the BBC film, to be broadcast later this year, claims Geller was recruited to help Western intelligence services as they battled to stay ahead of their Communist enemies in the Seventies and Eighties. The research with Uri went into a high gear after a phone conversation with his secret C.I.A. contact 3,000 miles away, in which Uri correctly described a detailed anatomical illustration the agent was looking at on his desk. With his seemingly incredible skills in telepathy, Geller became the poster boy for the paranormal. He spent months wired up in lab tests and, according to the documentary, the results convinced scientists that he really did have special skills. ...

An Inconvenient Lie

David Bellamy Says The End Of His Career Was Caused By His View That Climate Change Was "Poppycock." "I Was Shunned. They Didn't Want To Hear"

Paul Cahalan -- Independent (UK)

But for the grace of God, he would be revered as the man who brought botany to life through glorious rambling monologues in a time before CGI graphics and hi-tech film techniques became de rigueur. But his fame and acclaim rolled off the rails in 2004 when he said global warming was nothing but "poppycock." He was deserted by fans, shunned by peers and, he says, ostracised by broadcasters and conservation groups that once thrived through his endorsement: he was fired as president of the Wildlife Trusts. Bellamy, who appears not to be able to shake the habit of speaking as if the camera were still rolling, is unrepentant. He is clear his stance on climate change ended his TV career. "All of the work dried up after that. I was due to start another series with the BBC but that didn't go anywhere, and ITV didn't want to know. I was shunned. They didn't want to hear the other side." But does he still believe he is right? "Absolutely. It is not happening at all, but if you get the idea that people's children will die because of CO2 they fall for it," he says, perhaps buoyed by forecasters at the Met Office this week downgrading a prediction for global warming to suggest that by 2017 average temperatures will have remained about the same for two decades. ...

"There Has Been No Global Warming For 16 Years"

John Griffing -- WND

The attendees at the recent global "climate" conference in Doha, Qatar, most of them highly influential and powerful in their home countries, were treated to a special address recently. "There has been no global warming for 16 years (actually 18 or 19 years, on closer examination)," the speaker said. "Even if warming were to occur at the predicted rate this century, it would be many times cheaper to adapt ... than to attempt, futilely, to mitigate it today. An independent scientific enquiry would be a good idea, to make sure that the conferences on the climate were still heading in the right direction." Those words are what Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, described as the high priest of climate skepticism recalls telling the stunned crowd of affluent attendees. He addressed the conference, which had just finished hours of consultation and discussion of how to prepare for the catastrophe long predicted by Al Gore, that of global warming. "My intervention in Doha was on the spur of the moment, right at the end of the final plenary session when no one else wanted to speak," he said. "The intervention gained very substantial international publicity, and I had not expected this. As a result, it is now widely known that there has been no global warming at all for more than a decade and a half." ...

Global Warming Stopped 16 Years Ago, Reveals Meteorology Office Report Quietly Released

David Rose -- Daily Mail (UK)

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures. This means that the "plateau" or "pause" in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years. The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported. This stands in sharp contrast to the release of the previous figures six months ago, which went only to the end of 2010 -- a very warm year. Ending the data then means it is possible to show a slight warming trend since 1997, but 2011 and the first eight months of 2012 were much cooler, and thus this trend is erased. ...

Climate-Change Prophet Al Gore Bails From Green-Energy Investment, Even As His Company Still Touts Profits Of "Alternative" Market

Colin Flaherty -- WND

If you are thinking about green energy for your portfolio, Al Gore has a few words of advice: "Don't do it." "Of course he does not say that in public," says Bill Gunderson, president of Gunderson Capital Management. "Gore's company still talks about how alternative energy is a good investment. How companies are adopting it, governments are subsidizing it and people are using it." But SEC filings from Gore's company, Generation Investment, tell a different story, says Gunderson, who hosts a nationally syndicated financial talk radio program and writes for MarketWatch and TheStreet.com. "Generation Investment says it is all about climate change, but it is just a typical investment fund with typical stocks," Gunderson said. "It has Amazon, Colgate Palmolive, eBay, Nielsen, Qualcomm, Strayer University and a smattering of stocks from biotech and health care. Not one company that makes solar panels, or windmills or biogas or electric cars. Catheters and commercial real estate, yes. Solar panels, no." ...

Dr. Tim Ball Says Climate Is Changing ... It's Cooling

WND

In the midst of recent wildfires, deadly storms and a record-setting heatwave, many climate change proponents claimed these extreme events were further proof of man's impact on our environment. They claim part of the human impact is greater volatility in our climate. Dr. Tim Ball says that's nonsense. Discovery Of Historical Photos Shows Greenland Ice Loss Greater In The 1930s Than Today

Science Codex

A chance discovery of 80-year-old photo plates in a Danish basement is providing new insight into how Greenland glaciers are melting today. Researchers at the National Survey and Cadastre of Denmark -- that country's federal agency responsible for surveys and mapping -- had been storing the glass plates since explorer Knud Rasmussen's expedition to the southeast coast of Greenland in the early 1930s. In this week's online edition of Nature Geoscience, Ohio State University researchers and colleagues in Denmark describe how they analyzed ice loss in the region by comparing the images on the plates to aerial photographs and satellite images taken from World War II to today. Taken together, the imagery shows that glaciers in the region were melting even faster in the 1930s than they are today, said Jason Box, associate professor of geography and researcher at the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State. ...

Global Warming Skeptics As Knowledgeable About Science As Climate Change Believers, Study Says

Maxim Lott -- FOX News

Are global warming skeptics anti-science? Or just ignorant about science? Maybe neither. A study published Sunday in the journal Nature Climate Change finds that people who are not that worried about the effects of global warming tend to have a slightly higher level of scientific knowledge than those who are worried, as determined by their answers to questions. The quiz, containing 22 questions about both science and statistics, was given to 1,540 representative Americans. Respondents who were relatively less worried about global warming got 57 percent of them right, on average, just barely outscoring those whose who saw global warming as a bigger threat. We're Due For Global Cooling, Caused By Solar Minimum -- Again

Space Daily

An abrupt cooling in Europe together with an increase in humidity and particularly in windiness coincided with a sustained reduction in solar activity 2800 years ago. Scientists from the German Research Center for Geosciences GFZ in collaboration with Swedish and Dutch colleagues provide evidence for a direct solar-climate linkage on centennial timescales. Around 2800 years ago, one of these Grand Solar Minima, the Homeric Minimum, caused a distinct climatic change in less than a decade in Western Europe. The exceptional seasonally laminated sediments from the studied maar lake allow a precise dating even of short-term climate changes. The results show for a 200 year long period strongly increased springtime winds during a period of cool and wet climate in Europe. ...

Wind Farms Make Climate Change WORSE: Turbines Actually Heat Up Local Areas

Rosie Taylor -- Daily Mail (UK)

Wind turbines could warm local climates up to ten times faster than the natural rate, a study has shown. Air temperatures around four of the world's largest wind farms have increased by up to 0.72C in a decade, researchers have found. In contrast, Earth's average temperature has warmed by only 0.8C since 1900. As more wind farms are built, temperature increases may have a long-term impact on wildlife and regional weather patterns. ...

Another Challenge To Obama's Eligibility

Bob Unruh -- WND

A longstanding eligibility case challenging Barack Obama's presence in the White House soon could be headed to the state Supreme Court in Alabama, where one justice already in a court filing has questioned the authenticity of Obama's documentation, and the incoming chief justice is a dyed-in-the-wool Constitution supporter with little tolerance for those who want to bypass the document. The move is pending in an eligibility challenge brought by Hugh McInnish and others against the Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman. The case calls for a determination that Chapman "has a duty to verify the eligibility of those seeking office." ...

Lord Monckton Crunches Numbers On "Mistakes" In White House Birth Certificate: One In 62.5 Quintillion Against

WND

Entire books have been written about the problems with the "birth certificate" that was released by the White House purportedly documenting Barack Obama's birth in Hawaii. Computer imaging experts have found it to be fraudulent and the conclusion of an official law enforcement investigation assembled by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is that it is just not real. But it wasn't until now, through the work of the Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, that the world was informed just exactly what the odds are against all of those anomalies occurring naturally. One in 62,500,000,000,000,000,000. (That's 62.5 quintillion). The question at hand is whether Obama is constitutionally qualified for the office, under the Constitution's requirement that presidents be a "natural born citizen." ...

Presidents Obama And Putin Share Icy Encounter Over Syria

Kathleen Hennessey -- Los Angeles Times

Sharp divisions over the civil war in Syria led to an icy encounter Monday between President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom U.S. officials view as a major hurdle in their drive to force Syrian President Bashar Assad from power. The two leaders held their first face-to-face meeting in a year at the summit of the world's richest countries days after Obama deepened U.S. involvement in the Syrian conflict. Aides said the C.I.A. would begin supplying arms and ammunition to some opposition forces in hopes of shifting the military balance away from Assad. In comments to reporters, Obama and Putin expressed support for still-unscheduled Syrian peace negotiations in Geneva, but offered no sign of progress in ending a war that has killed at least 93,000 people. Russia, Syria's most powerful ally, has sent weapons to Assad's forces and is considering deliveries of sophisticated antiaircraft missile batteries. The last time Obama and Putin met, at the G-20 summit a year ago in Los Cabos, Mexico, they barely made eye contact and seemed uncomfortable sitting next to each other. They were equally frosty Monday, sitting side by side in armchairs during their 12-minute meeting with reporters. Each looked straight ahead, unsmiling, as the other spoke, although Putin sometimes stared at the floor. ...

Vladmir Putin Refuses To Back G8 Call For Removal Of Assad; President Barack Obama Ready To Provide Weapons To Rebels

Matt Chorley -- Daily Mail (UK)

The Russian leader refused to sign a communique at the summit in Northern Ireland which mentioned ousting the Syrian President amid claims that chemical weapons have been used against opposition forces. At a G8 dinner last night David Cameron led seven world powers against one as he tried to shame Mr Putin into agreeing that Syria's brutal regime must be toppled. Other than Russia, members of the G8 agreed on a five-point plan after two years of civil war in Syria. It included a condemnation of the use of chemical weapons and a declaration that Syria needs a "new government" with the consent of its people. ...

Using 9/11 To Take Down The Fourth Amendment

Kenric Ward -- Watchdog.org

In late 2007 and 2008, after Congress provided new legal powers -- including an immunity law supported by Barack Obama -- the National Security Agency obtained the cooperation of Microsoft and Yahoo in providing access to their servers. Since the beginning of 2009, the so-called PRISM program expanded to include Google, Facebook, YouTube, Skype and others -- so that Obama is now presiding over a data-collection and data-mining project that critics call the fulfillment of a "Total Information Awareness" program. But the genesis of this "black ops" program, funded off the Defense Department's books, goes back much further. Herein is a chronology of those events, going back to 2001. ...

N.S.A. Chief Defends Surveillance, Says Helped Prevent Terror More Than 50 Times Since 9/11

Fox News

Disclosing new details, a top FBI official claimed the surveillance efforts helped disrupt a plot to bomb the New York Stock Exchange. F.B.I. Deputy Director Sean Joyce said N.S.A. officials discovered the scheme while monitoring a known extremist in Yemen, who was in contact with an individual in the U.S. After initiating surveillance, Joyce said, they were able to detect "nascent plotting" to bomb the stock exchange and ultimately disrupt the plot. Joyce also discussed another case in which the N.S.A. used the program to tip off the FBI about an individual's "indirect contacts" with terrorists overseas. This "terrorist activity" was disrupted as well, he said, without going into detail. The administration had not previously discussed those two cases. Joyce also confirmed prior claims that the program helped detect information about the 2009 plot to bomb the New York subway system and a plot involving a Chicago resident to bomb a Danish newspaper. ...

Republicans Push To Let States Require Citizenship Proof After Court Strikes Down Arizona Voter Law

Fox News

In a blow to Arizona's efforts to toughen its voter ID standards, the high court on Monday ruled 7-2 that states could not unilaterally require would-be voters to prove citizenship in order to use a federal registration form. The court ruled that because the federal "Motor Voter" registration law -- which created the form -- doesn't require that documentation, Arizona could not on its own demand it. In response, Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and David Vitter, R-La., announced an amendment to the Senate immigration overhaul that would explicitly allow states to impose those requirements. In a statement, Cruz said the Supreme Court ruling leaves a "hole in federal law" that must be addressed. The amendment would adjust the federal law so that states would be able to require proof of citizenship in order to complete any federal voter registration form. ...

YEST I.R.S. Supervisor In Washington, D.C. Scrutinized Tea Party Groups' Cases

Fox News

A Washington-based I.R.S. supervisor acknowledged she was personally involved in reviewing Tea Party applications for tax-exempt status as far back as 2010 -- a detail that further challenges the agency's initial claim that the practice of singling out those groups was limited to a handful of employees in Ohio. Congressional sources confirmed that Holly Paz, who until recently was a top deputy in the division that handles applications for tax-exempt status, told congressional investigators she reviewed 20 to 30 applications. Some requests languished for more than a year without action. The account undercuts the narrative that senior officials only learned of the practice after it had already started in the Cincinnati office. Paz was among the first I.R.S. employees to be interviewed as part of a joint investigation by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee. Congressional investigators have interviewed at least six I.R.S. employees as part of their inquiry. Paz told congressional investigators that an I.R.S. agent in Cincinnati flagged the first tea party case in February 2010. The agent forwarded the application to a manager because it appeared to be politically sensitive, Paz said. The manager informed Paz, who said she had the application assigned to a legal expert in Washington. The I.R.S. declined comment for this story. ...

YEST N.S.A. Can "Listen To U.S. Phone Calls" Without A Warrant, According To Congressman Jerrold Nadler

Associated Press And Alex Greig -- Daily Mail (UK)

Listening to phone calls without a warrant is illegal, but according to Representative Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat, the N.S.A. does not obtain a warrant to listen to calls. Nadler said during the briefing that he was told that the contents of a phone call could be accessed "simply based on an analyst deciding that." If the N.S.A. wants "to listen to the phone," an analyst's decision is sufficient, without any other legal authorization required, Nadler said he was informed. "I was rather startled," said Nadler, an attorney and congressman who serves on the House Judiciary committee. It was an exchange that took place between Nadler and F.B.I. director Robert Mueller at the briefing on Thursday that some have taken to indicate the N.S.A. illegally listens to U.S. phone calls. ...

YEST N.S.A. Targeted Russian President Medvedev In London

Ewen MacAskill, Nick Davies, Nick Hopkins, Julian Borger And James Ball -- Guardian (UK)

American spies based in the U.K. intercepted the top-secret communications of the then Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, during his visit to Britain for the G20 summit in London, leaked documents reveal. The details of the intercept were set out in a briefing prepared by the National Security Agency (N.S.A.), America's biggest surveillance and eavesdropping organisation, and shared with high-ranking officials from Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The document, leaked by the N.S.A. whistleblower Edward Snowden, shows the agency believed it might have discovered "a change in the way Russian leadership signals have been normally transmitted." The N.S.A. interception of the Russian leadership at G20 came hours after Obama and Medvedev had met for the first time. Relations between the two leaders had been smoothed in the runup to the summit with a series of phone calls and letters, with both men wanting to establish a trusting relationship to discuss the ongoing banking crisis and nuclear disarmament. ...

The man's name has not been released, but passengers described him as American.  G8 Leaders Agree On Tax Evasion Measures

BBC News (UK)

Leaders of the G8 major economies have agreed new measures to clamp down on money launderers, illegal tax evaders and corporate tax avoiders. Governments agreed to give each other automatic access to information on their residents' tax affairs. They will also require shell companies -- often used to exploit tax loopholes and invest money anonymously -- to identify their effective owners. The summit communique urged countries to "fight the scourge of tax evasion." The measures are designed to combat illegal evasion of taxes, as well as legal tax avoidance by large corporations that make use of loopholes and tax havens. ...

YEST Central Banks' Failure To Communicate Boosts Bond Yields

Simon Kennedy And Rich Miller -- Bloomberg News

What central banks may have the world over is a failure to communicate. Officials are struggling to spell out their visions for monetary policy, often amid a chorus of competing views. Chairman Ben S. Bernanke is trying to manage expectations about when the Federal Reserve will slow asset purchases and raise interest rates. Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda's reflation-push is backfiring by driving up bond yields. European Central Bank President Mario Draghi is dashing investors' hopes he once kindled for extra stimulus. The muddied messaging already is roiling financial markets, threatening to undermine the confidence of investors, households and consumers and so undoing efforts by central banks to strengthen their economies. The opacity puts policy makers under pressure to improve the communication techniques they've been using to restrain borrowing costs. The dilemma now is that officials are in what Sylvester Eijffinger, a professor of financial economics at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, likens to what old maps would call "terra incognita" -- the Latin for "unknown land." ...

IRS, OSHA, ATF, And FBI All Probed Tea Party Group, Says Suit Filed By Top Washington-Based Lawyer

Jerome R. Corsi -- WND

The scandal involving IRS discrimination against conservative groups is about to reach a new level of intensity. A top Washington-based lawyer with expertise in IRS tax-exempt organizations has filed the first of several anticipated federal lawsuits against the IRS that will force the agency to hand over documents and answer questions under oath. "We are going to require documents and testimony from all the IRS higher-ups and agents involved that we know were involved with reviewing the True the Vote application," attorney Cleta Mitchell explained in an interview. "We are going to find out through the process of discovery in this lawsuit exactly what the IRS was doing, who was doing it, why they were doing it," she said. "Cleta Mitchell's strategy to press for discovery against the IRS, to my mind right now, is the best opportunity to pull back the layers of the IRS scandal and understand who knew what, when," said Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of "True the Vote." ...

NBC Correspondent: Obama Trying To "Criminalize Journalism"

WND

It happened with MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, who noted that some people who definitely are not "tea party" types were expressing concern. "We had Cokie Roberts and Al Hunt, Steve Rattner. And Cokie and Al, not tea party patriots, absolutely shocked as am I what this Justice Department did, not only to the AP, but now to Fox News," Scarborough said during his interview with Chuck Todd of NBC. "Tracing five lines inside Fox News' Washington bureau. You add on top of that also people inside the White House talking about the Espionage Act against a reporter who did exactly what reporters have been doing for 200 years. It's almost as if Eric Holder and Barack Obama never read the Pentagon Papers case. We've been having this fight for 200 years and they are talking about espionage?" Todd responded, "What's funny is I think candidate Obama if George Bush and Dick Cheney were doing this, imagine what candidate Obama would say. Candidate Obama would be unloading. There'd be a lot of Democrats that would be unloading on the administration if they were this and they were trying to crack down on leaks. This is, you can't look at this and see it as anything other than an attempt to basically scare anybody from ever leaking anything ever again." ...

Twin Scandals Sap Obama Credibility

Chris Stirewalt -- Fox News

When an official is found to have scrubbed talking points about the attack expressly to deny Republicans the opportunity to criticize the administration, it becomes clear that Obama was wrong when he said his administration was being forthcoming. It also opens the door to the next round of questioning about whether Obama and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were willfully misinformed or willfully spreading misinformation. Neither is good. With reporters plenty embarrassed by having been badly burned by Team Obama on the Benghazi attacks, a new scandal comes into view: the deliberate targeting of conservative groups by the I.R.S. Just a few months ago, claims of a Benghazi cover up and the government hassling and intimidating the president's critics were dismissed as kooky. Now both have been revealed to be true. ...

Opinion: Liberal Media Spin Benghazi Scandal To Protect "Open And Transparent" Obama Administration

Dan Gainor -- Fox News

In the real world, when you cover up four murders after the fact, you likely go to jail. In government, you retire with dignity and run for president with full media support. Up until yesterday, that was the Benghazi scenario following the death of four Americans including our ambassador to Libya. The Obama administration has lied, stonewalled, bullied, and intimidated: the true marks of an open and transparent administration. And, with a few notable exceptions, the American media haven't just let them get away it; they've helped. Testimony of State Department whistleblowers might change that, but it's doubtful given the one-sided reporting so far. It doesn't really matter how they spin it, the news continues to get out. But if all major news outlets do is cover for the administration, they may well succeed in protecting their 2016 candidate.

In a radio interview, Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin called for the impeachment of President Obama over his policy of permitting drone strikes on American citizens overseas who are members of terrorist organizations. Benjamin affirmed she believes the drone warfare is an impeachable offense. She said she would go even further and "broaden" a ban on drone strikes to "end the killing of innocent people overseas in countries where we are not at war without any kind of transparency or accountability." The interviewer then asked, "So would you then call, as the co-founder of Code Pink, for the impeachment of President Obama based on these alleged crimes?" "Sure," Benjamin responded. "Just like I called for President Obama and George Bush to be taken to the International Criminal Court for war crimes, but it's not going to happen." ...

High Crimes And Misdemeanors: The Case For The Impeachment Of Barack Obama

Chelsea Schilling -- WND

Should Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th president of the United States, be impeached? It's not a question yet being asked or debated in the Big Media. But it is a question being addressed by some members of Congress, by an increasing number of pundits by activists on the left and the right -- and for more than one or two alleged constitutional offenses. Some of those who have broached the subject include Reps. Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; Walter Jones, R-N.C.; Trey Radel, R-Fla.; Steve Stockman; former Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas; former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio; Fox News' Mike Huckabee; former assistant U.S. attorney Andrew McCarthy; left-leaning investigative reporter Dave Lindorff; talk-radio host Mark Levin; former House Speaker and presidential candidate Newt Gingrich; author and columnist Pat Buchanan and others. Article II, Section 4, of the U.S. Constitution states, "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." This powerful legislative check on executive and judicial wrongdoing is reserved for the most egregious offenses against the U.S. Constitution and the republic. ...

Court Rules Obama Recess Appointments Unconstitutional

David G. Savage -- Los Angeles Times

A federal appeals court, dealing a defeat to President Obama, has sharply limited the chief executive's power to bypass the Senate and to make temporary "recess" appointments to fill vacant slots in government agencies. The Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, in a 3-0 ruling, said the president can make recess appointments only when the Senate has formally adjourned between sessions of Congress, not when lawmakers leave Washington for a brief break. The Obama administration is almost certain to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. But if the ruling stands, it strengthens the power of the Senate's Republican minority at the expense of Obama and the Democrats. ...

Sen. Rand Paul Claims Obama Administration Smuggling Guns To Jihadist Rebels

WND

Video AND TEXT. Paul said the guns scheme could help explain the reason for the coordinated attacks against the U.S. special mission and CIA annex in Benghazi last September. Paul said, "There is also some concern about whether or not Libyan arms are being ferried through Turkey into Syrian rebels and whether or not that had something to do with the cover-up that came out of the administration when the administration was saying that, 'Oh, this attack in Benghazi had something to do with a film. Maybe that was to cover up that there was some kind of gun smuggling going on over there, some kind of international 'fast and furious' was going on in Libya and that this was a cover-up. These are some of the questions that we are going to have for Hillary Clinton when she comes before our committee." The politician, who will serve on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the U.S.-backed rebels in Syria include jihadists tied to al-Qaida. Many rebel fighters are openly members of terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida. ...

Overwhelming Evidence Shows Vote Fraud And Abuse Played Major Role In Outcome Of 2012 Election

James Simpson -- WND

Following Barack Obama's re-election, accusations from some quarters have held that his campaign stole the election through vote fraud. Others claim no vote fraud occurred, and that the election victory resulted from the Obama campaign's vastly superior get-out-the-vote effort. One RedState diarist has even gone so far as to announce that commenters complaining that the election was stolen will be banned from the site. With all of the swirling allegations, where does the truth lie? While there have been many proven cases of vote fraud in previous elections, and many credible allegations of fraud in this election cycle, was the cumulative total of all fraud sufficient to throw the election for Obama? After all, Obama's team ran an intensely focused, highly organized get-out-the-vote effort. Republican efforts were, by comparison, disorganized and nowhere near as comprehensive or sophisticated. Still, members of the president's team did everything possible to rig the game in their favor. They took liberties with the law Republicans would never dare attempt and obstructed voter-integrity efforts at every turn, while the vast political-media-entertainment-education-union-nonprofit complex went all in to promote Obama's narrative. Democrats and their media allies also engaged in what has fairly been described as a dishonest and "vicious" campaign to discredit the Republican nominee while steadfastly shielding the administration from its many scandals. Any of these could have sunk Obama's reelection prospects had the media reported them with the enthusiasm they showed in attacking and spreading disinformation about Romney. Herein, we examine those allegations with the greatest potential for skewing election results ...

Columbia Classmate Says "Obama Using IRS To Punish Me"

Art Moore -- WND

The former Libertarian Party vice presidential candidate who has claimed Barack Obama was unknown to him and his fellow Columbia University classmates charges the president is using the Internal Revenue Service to punish and silence him. Wayne Allyn Root -- a pre-law and political science major in the class of 1983, like the president -- said that despite a spotless tax record, he became the target of an audit in January 2011 when he received an "unsettling" call from an IRS agent who called himself a fan of his and considered it "an honor" to audit him. Root won a complete victory three months ago in tax court, which found no taxes owed in his 2007 and 2008 filings. But then, he said, something shocking happened -- something his tax attorney has never heard of in his entire career. Root was hit with a new audit just five days later, for 2009 and 2010. "That order had to come from the highest levels of government," he asserted. "Obama is using the power of the IRS and other government agencies to punish his political opposition and intimidate and silence his critics," Root charged. ...

Top Democrat Strategist Admits: "We Need Death Panels"

Aaron Klein -- WND

A top Democrat strategist and donor who served as President Obama's lead auto-industry adviser recently conceded that the rationing of heath services under Obamacare is "inevitable." Steven Rattner advocated that such rationing should target elderly patients, while stating, "We need death panels." Rattner serves on the board the New America Foundation, or NAF, a George Soros-funded think tank that was instrumental in supporting Obamacare in 2010. Soros' son, financier Jonathan Soros, is also a member of the foundation's board. Rattner was the so-called "car czar," the lead auto adviser to the Treasury Department under Obama. Last month, Rattner penned an opinion piece in the New York Times titled "Beyond Obamacare" in which he proclaimed "We need death panels" and argued rationing must be instructed to sustain Obama's health-care plan. His comments have been virtually ignored by traditional media as the president campaign's for a second term. ...

Chicago Gossip Columnist Kevin Dujan Claims Obama Hid "Gay Life" To Become President

Jerome R. Corsi -- WND

A prominent member of Chicago's homosexual community claims Barack Obama's participation in the "gay" bar and bathhouse scene was so well known that many who were aware of his lifestyle were shocked when he ran for president and finally won the White House. "It was preposterous to the people I knew then to think Obama was going to keep his gay life secret," said Kevin DuJan, who was a gossip columnist in Chicago for various blogs when Obama was living in the city as a community organizer and later a state senator. "Nobody who knew Obama in the gay bar scene thought he could possibly be president," said DuJan. DuJan, founder and editor of the Hillary Clinton-supporting website HillBuzz.org, said he has first-hand information from two different sources that "Obama was personally involved in the gay bar scene." Investigative journalist Wayne Madsen, who worked with the National Security Agency from 1984 to 1988 as a Navy intelligence analyst, confirmed DuJan's claims. ...

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

A reader who wishes to remain anonymous sent in this criticism:

Great news coverage. Too bad you market by exploitation of women and by increasing interest in our already broken sex saturated sex focused culture. Why not drop the rot and go for excellence. I had possibly considered financial support but not with your sex oriented lead headlines. Please consider a change.

Robert Jay March Responds:

Actually, I agree with you. The reason we put the "exploitation" articles in is that, since we began doing so, our traffic has gone up 30%, and with that, advertising revenue. Regretably, sex sells.
I am a disabled, home-bound journalist, and MarchReport.com is how I make my living. I must use any means to get traffic up in order to survive, even if I find the method(s) distasteful. Also, as I have been celibate for 15 years, I find these articles even more offensive than you do. I've experimented with removing them, and traffic goes way down. I have to do what I must to survive, both individually and as a daily web site news platform. Just skip over the articles you find offensive.

Reader Jacob Martin of North Carolina sent in this criticism:

In response to your editorial on BHO's birth certificate, you seem to end it by saying "Oh, well, let's just move on." This attitude is the reason our country is in the shape it is in. If we don't find out for sure and prosecute all involved, to include the "criminal-in-chief", and incarcerate them, then we have no excuse for any future fraud perpetuated on our nation. I've heard that the "government is scared to prosecute" because of the anarchy that will ensure from blacks, well, it's time to deal with that too. Every time something happens in this country and blacks don't like the outcome, they mob, riot, loot and destroy public and private property; and blacks are not alone, as the liberal "march on wall street" group are no better. Our founding fathers stood up for something and we as a nation are letting them, ourselves, and our future down. Liberals as a whole are destroying the very foundation of what this country stands for and it needs to stop now.

Robert Jay March Responds:

You need to read the Editorial again, as it seems you have missed the key point: I believe the birth certificate Obama released is real, and that the unflattened layers were left there as "red meat" for those unwilling to let it go. After stating that, I went on to discuss the "what if it's not" scenarios.
The Founding Fathers actually lived in world of despots and not-so-benelovent dictators; their courage was forged in that cauldron. The "leaders" of our country today are made of a weaker alloy, where freedom is the assumed norm. The axiom "freedom is not free" is lost on them; only those of us who are the children of Holocaust survivors and Iron Curtain escapees comprehend that it is not. If it turns out that the birth certificate is not real, there is no one in a position of authority who has the courage to act on it: absolutely no one. If the Supreme Court ever actually displayed to courage to hear this case, they'd simply issue another Bush v. Gore type of ruling, and would let Obama remain in office.
Your efforts would be better spent on seeing to it that he is not allowed to serve a second term.

A reader who wished to be referred to by the nom de plume "Great Granny Jane" wrote:

Hi, just wish to let you know how much I love your Report! And please,if possible do not stop ! I would be happy to help, financially, but am almost 90 yrs old, on an extremely limited income, but I will, if I ever have any extra, count on me to send you a wee bit!

Robert Jay March Responds:

While I welcome donations from those who are willing and able, the fact is that most readers do not donate, and that's fine. I'm delighted to have you as a reader. I thank you for your kind note, and congratulate you on your longevity.
